I am having problems install VirtualBox and followed the errors to see that the link for Build (2.6.29) links to a non existent folder.
I also find it weird that there is actually a 2.6.30 kernel folder as well.
Not sure if this is just n00b issue, but VBox won't install and I was wondering why one of the kernels listed would link to nothing...
This is from Centos 5.5 so I apologize to anyone who may be offended.I installed my system and it came with kernel 2.6.18-194.el5. I installed the src.rpm of this kernel with rpm, patched, and built it. Then I did a yum -y install kernel.i686 which installed kernel-2.6.18-194.32.1.el5.centos.plus.src.rpm. Since this was a yum install, why doesn't this new kernel version show in the BUILD and SPEC directory?

After just over 3 hours the build exhausted the 5.2GB I had available and fell over. The .config file used was nearly twice the size of the one I supplied. make xconfig
make
make modules_install
Then copy the folder to my netbook then:
make install? Is there a better way? I don't really want to make .rpms.

kernel-headers-<version>.<arch>.rpm
Files. Don't I need them to rebuild modules and drivers on System B? Otherwise, how should I copy my new headers to System B? BTW, System B crashes when I try to build the Kernel on it, that's why I'm building debugger Kernels on System A.
I have a fresh installation of Fedora14_x64 and after that I have updated the OS also.
Then I have installed VMware-Player-3.1.2-301548.x86_64.
All the installation procedure has completed successfully without any error.
But when I am going to run VMWare It is throwing some error.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Sun VirtualBox Additions into Fedora 12 which is installed in VirtualBox running on top of Windows 7. As the Fedora install was originally a live distro which was then installed to the HD, it may be missing some essential files for compiling.
My attempt to install the VBoxLinux additions is incomplete and I can't get the full range of video displays. The largest is This is the error message: "Your system does not seem to be set up to build kernel modules".
Should I update Fedora to install all the updates available? I did find one webpage which gave an accurate list of files to install for this purpose but can't find it now.
The problem is that I need to use kernel headers like <linux/interrupt.h>. However, those files do not exist in folder /usr/include/linux. Thus, compilation fails. On the other hand, the files exist in folder /usr/src/kernels/2.6.30.10-105.2.4.fc11.i586/include/linux.
How can I get the missing headers into proper place in /usr/include/? I even tried coping, but extra files are then needed and so on.
I tried to use "make menuconfig", but I couldn't see a missing configuration I need.
I also tried to use " yum install kernel-devel". This tells me "Package kernel-devel 2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i586 already installed and latest version Nothing to do".
I am using slackware64-current. I have installed the package links-2.3pre1-x86_64-1 and I love it. I launch it from the command line with the "links -g" switch and it can display pictures, it's great, but it doesn't seem to support ssl connections.
Am i doing something wrong or do I need another build? I know that in the past there used to be two different binaries, is it still so? Where can I find a ssl-enabled binary for 64 bit without need to recompile?
I'm new to ubuntu and want to install stepmania so i downloaded the binary, i want to put the files in the /opt/ directory, the only problem is i cant create a new folder, i tried dragging a ready-made file into it but it just says "you do not have the permissions to file:///opt/" Im soo sad i wanna play my sM NOW!

I am trying to compile the kernel version 2.6.20-15 on my Linux 10.10 with 2.6.35-22 kernel. Additionally, this is my assignment.After I download kernel, extract it and create a new .config file for the new kernel I am trying to command;make-kpkg clean fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd --append-to-version=-custom kernel_image kernel_headers.after the second command I get an error an it says "nothing to be done" but I expect to have some .deb files for the new kernel. In addition this I have added a new system call to the kernel 2.6.20-15.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAt my Uni, we use a web-based login for our internet connections. Its based off of Cisco, and every Wednesday night every computer on campus must re-enter their credentials to use the network.
Normally on my several computers I simply pull up the Terminal, point links to google.com using

Literally, the process is

Then ENTER to accept the redirect, down arrow to skip over the logo image, USERNAME, ENTER, PASSWORD, ENTER, ENTER.
Naturally, this is EXTREMELY time consuming, as I have about 5 computers located around campus and must physically walk to the machines and login every single week.
My question is, How would I formulate a program that does the following;
1) checks for connectivity (i.e. is able to reach/resolve to the greater part of the internet) and
2) automatically fills in the credentials on the links login page?

but now that fckeditor is available for mediawiki (very beta), it has become much better to just stick with wikitext format. There are only a few conversions to do: tables, links, and bulleted lists. The lists are a fairly simple regex and fckeditor magically reformats the tables, so all I'm left with is the links. But I'm not a regex master. How do I reformat code...
