I usually upgrade using the network install CD image. However, I cannot locate one for F14. Is there one? If so where? If not, should I just wait for it? I recall that the F13 network install came out awhile after the F13 release.
View 2 RepliesI downloaded the iso file from fedora's official site and copied the iso to my pendrive to be able to install Fedora through pen drive i downloaded Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.1.5 and used it locate the iso file in my pen drive after Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.1.5 did its job, i booted my pc and proceeded to the installation there was a 'install on hard disk option' and chose it it asked me for a new password, my location etc. but when i chose the install option it prompted me an error saying that i dun have enough space to install fedora.how do i locate my drive during installation , so that i cud install it on my desired drive.it shows me two options, one is the pendrive while the other is "AMD something."(dun remember the exact name") whenever i select on the AMd.it gives me an error saying that i dun have enough space..

Sure enough, a handful of other services stopped as well.Now I have almost recovered the PC from this foolish mistake of mine, the only problem I seem to be stuck with is I am now unable to locate the computer on my LAN by hostname ... does anyone know which service I should restart please (if it helps, the computer can resolve DNS names such as Google.com OK)?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set uamsung clx2160N as a standalone network printer on my home network. It is a printer with standalone network capability and is connected directly to my router and has a static IP number. We have a few Windows computers at home and they had no problem detecting the printer, installing the drivers and working. Unfortunately my Ubuntu computer recognises the printer and I can even access it's setup and diagnositcs through its IP number. However when I try to add it as a printer, drivers for it cannot be located. #ve tried setting it up three ways:1. Using Samsung's own setup package - finds printer and all the details it needs to work but offers no drivers2. Using Ubuntu's printer setup - recognises printer but stalls at Searching for Drivers dialog3. Trying to *** printer using CUPS - no problem finding and recognising printer, but when I come to search for the driver I get Internal Server Error.
I have of course been trying to do all of these as root. That's the limit of my knowledge reached and searches on the net aren't helping me either. The printer works fine directly connected via USB, so the drivers are on the computer somewhere. How do I get them set up to use the printer on the network?
I would like to know if I want to vi /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward, but assume that I don't know the path of ip_forward, is there a way to tell where is it?

I don't see the ssh2 directory either. Is this another component that is not installed? Since the book is an implementation book, it doesn't give all the details as to what it is. Sometimes I have to access large files with thousands of lines in them and I would like to locate a particultar word. e.g.
vi /etc/passwd.
The contents of file passwd are displayed.I want to find a username of joe assuming the passwd file is 2000 lines long.
I would like to use a linux command that will locate joe and highlight in the passwd file as to where word joe is.

I installed a command line version of Ubuntu 10.10 using the alternate install disk. To suit my needs, I have to install the gcc C compiler in this environment. When connected under root, I enter the command: 'apt-get install gcc'. The error 'E: unable to locate package gcc' is then displayed on screen. how to install gcc? Is this package available from the alternate install disk or do we have to download it. If I dowbload a tar file, where should I copy it to to be able to have the install application see it?

There appears to be no .iso file in the UDF Volume.
