I am not having a lot of good fortune with Xfce, this time. The LiveCD had a kernal error, and after doing an install, the update chokes on dependency errors. I tried unchecking the problem update files, but then I ended up in a loop that I couldn't find what else was causing these problems. This doesn't seem to be a big problem listed in this forum, so how do I resolve this?

I cannot update perl due to a missing dependency.

downgrade also does not work. I just updated F12 to F13 using DVD and this occured. Also prevents me from doing "full" yum system update, these packages always fail. I do not understand the problem, it says that perl-libs 5.10.1-112 requires perl-libs 5.10.1-112, but I have that installed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night I let the automatic updating of packages ran on my Fedora 10 installation. It has been a few months since I ran the updating and so it took quite long. I did not monitor it closely so I am not sure which packages were updated. After the update was completed, when I restarted my computer it halted during the boot up process at the point when it was trying to mount the root file system. The error message is "mount: missing mount point".
I booted the computer using the F10 DVD and used the rescue mode to look into the /boot directory. The kernel that was booting by default was 2.6.27.25-170.2.72.fc10.x86_64.There were two older F10 kernels in /boot and so I tried booting with them. The boot process went further but I was still not able to boot up F10 successfully. There were many error messages about not being able to touch files in /var/lock/subsys as it is a read-only file system.
I want to install php-soap on centos 5.2 server. When i run the command, yum install php-soap, i get the error:

I have Ubuntu Jaunty & Linux Multimedia Studio 0.4.2. In attempt to update to LMMS 0.4.5, I downloaded & attempted to install : lmms_0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty_i386.deb and got the following error message : Error : Dependency is not satisfiable : lmms-common (=0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty). What went wrong and is there an easier way to update ? Also, should I remove the older version or just install the latest on top of it ?

I have noticed a lot of posts around the web with the same problems, so I guess this is something that is common, you think it would be fixed by now but anyways.
