View 4 RepliesAs a beginner I installed Fedora 11 yesterday. Everything went well until I installed Evolution and Thunderbird. Incoming mails went well, but outgoing mails not.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to configure bind9 to block porn by having it pretend to be authoritative for a list of porn domains. It can then return a "fake" IP for the port sites, which points to a page on my server. So far, the only way I have found to do in this in bind requires a separate zone for each porn domain. This doesn't work because of memory problems - I have 1000's of porn domains to block.
I'd like to instead have bind forward queries to rbldnsd, which can take a list of domains in a "data set" file, and use it to return a single A record (pointing to my "access denied" page). However, I think this will not work because I would still need a separate "zone" for each porn domain name.
I use this command to fetching mail from gmail it work good but it does not retrieved mails from server as I read from manual.

fetchmail -d0 -F -K pop.gmail.com
What is wrong and what should I do?
am using qmail and have webmin, all is running smoothly, but i have users spamming other staff accounts. The question: How do I block a user from sending out mails but still able to receive mails. Just denying access to sending mails?if anyone can guide me to do it via terminal as well as webmin. Why webmin you ask, because I have tried it once it works but sadly it block both incoming and outgoing mails.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi've set up a little mail server ob my private server, using getmail to get the mails from different pop accounts and to send it to maildirs of some virtual users, and i use dovecot as imap server to provide the mails to my clients which are mostly outook 2007. i run getmail as a cronjob which fetches my mails every 2 minutes, anyhow i'd like to run it on demand when a client pushes the send/receive button. is there a way to tell dovecot to run getmail on demand?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a Fedora postfix server that I just upgraded from 9 to 10 using preupgrade. Starting yesterday, some messages were rejected by servers because the IP address had a poor "reputation". The odd thing is, the IP address they're registering isn't the IP address the server is sending from.
When I look at the full headers of our outgoing e-mail, the e-mail is listed as coming from ***.***.***.11, which is the correct address. But these services are somehow tying the e-mails back to ***.***.***.12, which is used for a different purpose entirely. Since this *.12 address doesn't match the MX record, I'm assuming that's why the mails are being blocked, but I'm not sure how the mails are being identified as coming from that address in the first place. It's odd that this just started when I upgraded.
I've started to get emails that would typically come from [URL] as [URL]. These emails come from services that send out emails (backup programs) directly, or from cronjobs. I've logged in as the non-root account and either sudo su - or su - to root and the restart the service at one point or another. If I login directly as root and bounce the service or cron the emails come across as from root. I don't see anything in my environment variables after I su to indicate what would cause this. I'm not sure where else to look? A pam setting? This seems to have happened between Fedora 10 and 14 (did a bunch of overdue upgrades recently) I've only got Fedora so I don't have anything to compare to. In Fedora 10 I did not have this problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to give access to ONE single user to start and shutdown tomcat server. The problem being, when I enter syntax: username ALL= /etc/init.d/tomcat5, /usr/local/tomcat/webapps, PASSWD:ALL This gives the user access to start and stop tomcat but also gives user access to start and stop other services within /etc/init.d - such as httpd etc... What is the proper way to give user access to start and stop service, and limiting that power to only one service....
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhats the difference between restarting/stopping apache using 'service httpd restart/stop' and apachectl restart/stop. I know that using 'service httpd restart' is actually a script in /etc/init.d/httpd but what about apachectl?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecordmydesktop sounds great. I installed it in F14 with both the gtk and the qt gui. Both of them start the recorder, but I can't find any way to stop it.
I really thought something like this would have some reasonable controls, like a time I could set for it to stop, on some way to stop it manually, but the only way I can find to stop it is to kill the process. If this were true then it would be junk, so surely there is some way to control it.
How do I stop automounting USB devices in Fedora 11?I have put the following in a file under /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/01-stop.fdi. I have even put a copy in /etc/hal/fdi/policy/. Nothing works.

I will keep this short, I have a bad HDD possibly PCB damage due to heat. It's a laptop although I can remove it but in the mean time till then, is there any way I can pass an option to the kernel to stop scanning it.My OS mounted on a 8 gb sd card plus 4 gb flash drive. It takes 20 minutes for Fedora to bootup and Debian base Linux 30 to 35 minutes.
It wouldn't been a problem setting my laptop to sleep mode when I'm done and it was working fine but after a few updates, once I put my laptop to sleep I can't do it again in the same row. I have to shutdown. Lets say I tried anyway, system stop being responsive, while I let it continue to see it will become responsive again, it went on for an hour and half. It's annoying... So my question is, what option can tell the kernel to not scan my HDD.
few days back i forcibly remove my flash drive from the USB, but after that the pen drive seems to stop working whenever i try to insert the pen drive in Windows or Linux, i see the appropriate image but if i double click on the image it says nothing is mounted,
i have seen what is mounted with
#fdisk -l
&
#df
no pen drive is showing
i have tried to mount it forcibly with
#mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /media/external -o force
with variou combination of /dev/**** can anyone mount this pen drive or can tell me what's the default for /dev/ ??? i think sdb1 it works with my external drive but i am not sure for flash drive and i am also not sure if it's ntfs file system, it's 4 GB so it should be ntfs
I was burning a disc with K3b and it was from an ISO; Burn and verify. Everything went successful, but when I put in my 2nd DVD to burn, K3b doesn't recognize it. On top of that when I right click on the icon of a Blank DVD on my desktop, it doesn't have the Eject Volume option there anymore. Does anybody know what could be going on here? why would my Fedora (11) stop burning and ejecting discs all of a sudden?
also, I tried this with multiple DVDs/drives to see if they were bad DVDs/drives and it's all the same result. Also, since I didn't have the eject option on my desktop I had to eject it with K3b from within the program. There's still a problem though.
edit: Some reason K3b is recognising discs again and is burning again. I guess the restart did it and I don't know why it was acting funny.
I've tried some workarounds like adding an audio entry in the registry but it did not work. I think that the problem is related with the pulseaudio driver...

Every time KDE starts, it pops up a message saying that 'another network manager is running', how can I prevent NetworkManager from starting?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new in configuring named.I want to set my firewall (Fedora 11) as a name server. The local domain is a Windows domain. I'd like internal users translate domain name into IP on this server when they go to the internet. After reading some posts on the web, I set up named as below. It seems the named does the job but with some problems.
1) When I start the server, I couldn't find the named process even if the file "named" is in /etc/init.d. I can browse Internet on the server with domain name (DNS works locally). But internal users couldn't get the domain name translated. If I shutdown the server at this stage, it will shutdown within 1 minute.
2) If I run "service named start" after the server boot up, I see process "named" and named work okay. Both internal user and local host can browse Internet with domain name. However, any command starting with "service named" has no response after this, such as "service named status" or "service named stop". I can see it shows "stopping named" and this last forever. I have to kill the process then restart named server so that named may run again.
3) If I shutdown the server now, it will take 4-5 minute instead of 1 minute in 1). The shutdown stuck at "shutdown named" for 4 minutes. Even if I kill process named before the shutdown, it will take 4-5 minutes.
It took me a week on this issue. I appreciate if you could take a look my configure files and guide me through this.
