Fedora :: Enable Image Display In E-mails?
Jun 5, 2010I use Evolution Mail and Calendar to receive and send e-mails, but it cannot display images(links?) that are embeded in the incoming e-mails. How to solve this problem?

Just denying access to sending mails?if anyone can guide me to do it via terminal as well as webmin.Why webmin you ask, because I have tried it once it works but sadly it block both incoming and outgoing mails.

Sep 1, 2011my local box is centos 5.5 running gnome.
I have a eucalyptus instance (vm) running an older version of centos (5.3?). As a vm it has no graphical display. I'd like to run a graphical app there so that it displays back on my local machine.
Used xhost locally and it shows the remote IP (eucalyptus instance) as enabled. On the remote side (eucalyptus instance) I set DISPLAY with:
export DISPLAY xx.xx.xx.xx:0.0
where xx.xx.xx.xx is my local ip address. Oh, I did install X in the vm instance (yum groupinstall "X Window System"). X is installed but not running there (does the point of origin of the x app need to have X running as well - and what does this mean in a vm which is a non-graphicla environment?).
Anyway, I try to run (from remote to local) xclock and get the typical

Jul 25, 2009I am a windows user and am trying to display a jpg image file on linux every x hours.In Windows, if I were to perform the same task, I would just give out the path to schtasks.exe and it would open the image in the default viewer,is the case same with linux as well? Do I just execute:
crontab now + 1 hour abc.jpg ? The linux is OpenSuse or Debian I guess.

Jan 11, 2010I am trying to write a small gtk+-2 program to display whatever image it is given and I was wondering if anyone out there has done something similar. I am not too familiar with writing programs for gtk and its been a while since I've fiddled with C. I went over the tutorial for gtk and it seams pretty easy to get a window to display, but I do not see anything that refers to loading an image or displaying it in the window. I am wondering if this can be done purely with gtk or will I need to use some type of image library like imlib2?

Aug 29, 2010I installed the latest version of Thunderbird by downloading the tarball and copying the contents to the required folder and just point launchers to the Thunderbird file.
However I cannot get GNOME Do to run Thunderbird. When I type run in Gnome Do, I go through the entire list without having Thunderbird as an option. The only plugin I can find is one that allows you to copy Thunderbird contacts to the clipboard.
I have set Thunderbird to be my default mail client, so when I type an email address I can choose to compose a mail in GNOME Do, but just opening up Thunderbird to check mail is not possible.

Aug 31, 2011I am looking for a tool that can resize images and display them on the root window of an X11 display at a specific coordinates. I can use display from iagemagick like so display -window root -geometry '-0-0' -resize '1920x1080>' IMG.png But cannot use it since it does not display on the right root window -- pseudo transparency in urxvt shows the wrong image as shown here. Ideally, I would like to resize any image bigger than my display. Does anyone know of a too that can do the following: Resize the image if it is bigger than some size (aka the display size). Set the images top appear at specific screen coordinates.

I can only use konqueror (asus eeepc 701) to completely view kneetest.html . The image taimoshan-front-qtr.jpg does not show, but if I right click and save, I can view the jpg. I was able to see this jpg earlier in the day, but not now. I've wget'd the site about 5 or 6 times in a day and sometimes I'll miss 2 images. I've also tried without the -U Mozilla option. BTW: Is there a way to get Mozilla to read files from wget?

My impression of openSUSE is that it is like moving into a new house that is well built but the rooms are full of half-constructed self-assembly furniture and appliances without any specific instructions. Nor is it clear which does what and whether all are needed or not. There is a town hall down the road where fellow homeowners gather to discuss what each has managed to deduce about putting their own furniture together. The town hall has a sort of library where thousands of pieces of paper with instructions are stored in an ad-hoc filing system
My latest problem is that I have created a screensaver via the "Configure Desktop" application and set "Enable display power management" and set some timeouts.However, I seem to be asked for a password to unlock the screen when I come back to my computer. I have spent 2 hours trying to find the place where I can disable screen password locking but to no avail. I am perplexed and frustrated at how such an obvious function is so ****ed hard to configure. This is the impression I am getting of Linux in general - it is novice user-hostile and badly organised.

Nov 23, 2010I have just installed a GeForce 8400 GS card in my Ubuntu 10.10 with the Nvidia proprietary driver( version number: 260.19.21).
The Display is connected to the desktop through an HDMI cable and the resolution is 1920 x 1080 .
After some trouble(Black Screens), almost everything is ok.
The only problem is the screen that is extrapolating the Display Boundaries.
I have tried to set it through the nvidia configuration program without success.
Is there any parameter in Xorg.conf that could resolve this issue?
