When I plug in a USB camera I have gthumb-importer kicking in, I don't like it and would like to disable this.I have checked everything I could, google, man page, the gthumb package itself (pre/post script) gthumb schema (/etc/gconf/schemas/gthumb.schemas) but I could not figure out how
to disable this thing. Did anybody figure this out ?
I just installed kubuntu lucid on my notebook. Every time I plug in a thumb drive, the device actions popup gives me two options - load in file manager and use gwenview importer.
I want to get rid of the gwenview importer option.
I went into System Settings->Advanced->Device Actions and found the entry for Download photos with gwenview. It can't be deleted (at least as a regular user). I tried modifying it and then deleting it, but the gwenview entry was still there afterward.
Does anyone know how to edit the tags You can use in gthumb for tagging pictures? As the ones in the attached picture:
I would like to add or remove an item in the list: I'm using F13 and I suppose it is a gnome setting, but searching in google for the word "tag" seems impossible because it appears everywhere
I started using gThumb for viewing images and it's perfect except for one thing. Sometimes I have many pictures in a folder and I want to interrupt the slide show to browse the net or send an email. The problem is that after pressing F5, the slideshow reverts to the first picture in the set and I've got to find where I was up to, which can be very time consuming. Since gThumb is now at version 2.12.0 it's absolutely certain there's a setting for this but, try as I might, I can't find it.
I'm not found of shotwell so I installed gthumb. According to the extensions it has the rename extension installed but renaming a file isn't on the menu when you right click on a image.
When I am deleting pictures using gThumb image viewer it asks "The selected images will be moved to Trash, are you sure?" And if I press "yes" button - it moves message to ~/.Trash, can it be configured to move them into "real" trash? I have created symbolic link and it solved part of my problems, but files "restore" option is unavailable to files which were moved in to trash by this method.
I installed gthumb on this laptop running Xubuntu 10.10 and it works great on my main admin account, but on my daughter's account, she cant print from gthumb or modify any pictures, printing as well as a bunch of other actions is greyed out.nting works good from the gimp. There's no print option in ristretto image viewer
Is there any way to clear the list of recent folders when you click Move or Copy on an image in gThumb? It's gotten way too big, so now it's not really helpful at all, with folders I don't even use.
Now that seems odd to me. Am I ok to proceed or will I be left without a desktop? Following advice in an earlier thread, I pointed my sources.list at testing to move to a rolling distro; having installed squeeze beta 2, I'm wondering if using testing is what is causing this?
For several reasons I still use Ubuntu 9.04 and for other reasons I dont like F-Spot for image-management (especially because it lacks the feature to manually sort your images -- or is there a way to do this?). gThumb lets me create manually sorted catalogs of images, so I use this piece of software. I would like to test the new (unstable) version -- 2.11 -- instead of 2.10, but it requires libexif-2.4 -- Jaunty has libexif 2.5 by default and I dont know a way to downgrade to 2.4. Is this possible somehow? I was trying both installing gThumb 2.11 from deb package and compiling it from source, both with the same result -- failure.
what happened to the Create Web Album functionality in gThumb 2.11 series? Is it no longer supported or am I missing an extension or something? Is there another software I can use that allwos me to do the same?
i wondered if anyone could assist me with a problem with gthumb?gthumb works fine on local files - it can thumbnail preview, then i double click the file to view iton network share, it does not work - it does the thumbnail preview ok but the viewer is blank (has image) when i double click - the snow leopard-esque thumbnail ribbon at the bottom still worksi have not issued a mount command - i have used the network drive mapping in the ubuntu menus (places > connect to server) then bookmarked the server. i note that gthumb does not see the bookmark. it sees the share as "sharename on server" and not the bookmark i made for it
I have Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome. Whenever I put in a blank CD/DVD an icon on the desktop appears named "Blank CD/DVD" and a window appears asking me what I want to do with it. How do I disable the window and the icon from the desktop?
I'm noticing that the performance for FreeNX Server under Fedora Core 14 is really bad. The screen refreshing is painfully slow. I'm thinking maybe the issue is related to the use of opengl in the X driver? how I can disable opengl entirely, so that the X server is only using 2d rendering?
Just recently installed Fedora 12 (GNOME) on my Netbook, just trying to get the boot as fast as possible. So I was wondering how do I turn off the graphical boot? That should save a few seconds.
How to disable logging to console in Fedora 13? To get rid of messages like Stopping HAL daemon: [ OK ]
and all other messages during shutdown and restart. Actually, earlier when i shutdown the system only a single shutdown message is showing on the screen, i don't know what happened, now it is showing lot of messages. i tried the quiet parameter in kernel boot parmeters but no effect.

with a most annoying problem, when I play a vid from my home directory (or laptop is idle) the screen goes black after about 10 minutes (comes back on when mouse moved), when I play a dvd no black screen/screensaver , I've uninstalled gnome-screensaver and in power-manager set everything to never and unticked "dim display when idle" is there some other default screensaver coming into play or a setting I could change
I often use the key combination ctrl + shift + F10 in my editor, and sometimes I mistakenly hit ctrl + alt + F10 which instantly transports me to a black screen with nothing but a cursor resulting in my having to reboot. I have no idea what the purpose of this key binding is but I want to get rid of it. I have looked in 'keyboard shortcuts' but there is none listed for ctrl + alt + F10. How do I disable this once and for all?
I want to install the some new packages in the fedora 14 but the PackageKit already starting at boot and this is the yum error:
Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running as pid 1939. Another app is currently holding the yum lock; waiting for it to exit... The other application is: PackageKit
I'm running fedora 10 with enabled desktop effects on an ati card. It seems to have included an effect similar to OS Xs active corners and expose where the top right corner gives me an overview of every window. I have ccsm installed and tried to disable every feature enabled but it doesn't seem to come from there.
I came across the following method of how to permanently disabling selinux and it's notifications. Although changing enforcement from the gui into permissive mode does most of the job, the notifications still pop-up when some applications are started.
So to disable it do the following:
open terminal as root and execute:
Quote:
And then change the SELINUX line to SELINUX=disabled
Quote:
This is it. Now reboot the system and selinux will never bother you again.
If you are not a Fedora user and you are using this forum just because we are cooler here then you will not find the /etc/selinux/config as in the fedora releases. What you need to do is to edit the kernel boot line and add selinux=0 at the end:
