Red Hat / Fedora :: VLC Media Player Installed But Not Working
Jun 25, 2010
I'm using fedora 13(64 bit system). I had recently installed VLC media player (version:1.0.6). Which installed properly, without any errors, but when I tried to play video files with vlc, its not working. Even when I tried to execute vlc using command prompt it resulted like this.....
I have a problem with VLC media player. I just reinstall it and when I try to run any movie the sound is working well but there is no video. I already tried every video codecs in the settings but with the same result. I also tried to start first VLC and select the video but that does not change anything.
my media flash player is not working on my computer a bunch of files was deleted by mistake & it won't let me listen to music play videos or any games online its telling me to manually install the sudo command I did what you said & it's saying command not found how do I restore my system back to how it was.
i hav a system which is never connected to internet. I had installed opensuse 11.1 from dvd.But the media files r not working. I had installed gstreamer all sets. And tried to install codecs using a .ypm file i downloaded from the opensuse server but not working without internet. I can download any files in other system and copy it to my system.
I'm a new Fedora user and I've been downloading some software from the repositories. BUT, I found a problem: I can't play ANY media with ANY player; however, I can hear system sounds but music. I've tried several media players (Exaile, Amarok, Audacius) but none of them can play a song. The format of all my music library is MP3. In the pre-installed Rhytmbox and Totem it says something about codecs and searches for them, but finds none.
Ubuntu10.10.i want a media player with all media codecs.it should able to play all formats of videos and audios so please suggest me a media player.(i used km player in windows i want a media player like that)
I have just shifted from Ubuntu based system to Fedora 12, but am unable to install vlc media player on this OS. I searched for the same here and followed the instructions as:

While I was trying to install vlc media player in red hat. I got the following error message: Unable to retrieve software information. This could be caused by not having a network connection available.

Crystal Player has one very good playback speed troubleshooting feature - it uses large buffer of decoded frames (about 50% of RAM). Is there any player with such features in ubuntu?

Iam using opensuse 11.1. I want to know which is the best player that can be used in suse, which should support all codecs. I have tried totem player, xine, kaffeine, Noautun etc. But none of them is good. I have tried to install vlc player, but it shows a lot of dependencies too..it was not successful.
It is recently I tried to put some music into my hand held media player, and not matter what I do, the file will just not gonna copy into the player memory. What I found in the system log is this
I tried so many times to configure vlc on fedora 11 . I installed VLC on F11 and it worked but after i updated F11, the video was smooth but the audio from VLC seems to have screwed up. I went to ..... and tried some vids, nothing's wrong and F11 still plays the usual system sounds. I have deleted and reinstalled VLC but to no avail. Unforunately, i did not know what i updated as there were just too many updates and i just acepted them all, maybe i shld not do that next time
Before upgrading from Fedora 13 to v.14, VLC Media Player (v1.1.9) worked perfectly. But under Fedora 14, when I try to use it to play .AVI files that played perfectly under Fedora 13 (with the same hardware), VLC opens, stalls for a second, then closes. I've tried several files -- all of which play under Movie Player (and DID play on VLC under Fedora 13), so I know the files themselves are valid. I'd like either to have VLC work under Fedora 14, or revert back to Fedora 13 and permanently block any future upgrade to 14. easy way of rolling back to v.13 without losing my configurations or any of my installed software? Would using a Fedora 13 CD do it?
I cant install vlc player or other media players in my fedora 11 .Every time it shows the dependency errors. Any media player get from the fedora yum server.
Firefox 3.6.16 I recently installed Fedora 14. I get this message when I browse to some web pages: Code: Cannot play media.You do not have the correct version of the flash player. I have installed the flash-plugin. And has been installed to the following directory;
