I have big problems with this video card on Fedora 13. First, it has only 32 Mb of memory, but it works perfectly on Windows XP at 1280x1024@75 with color quality 32 bits. However, on Fedora 12 and 13 i have to lower the resolution down to 800x600, otherwise the screen is very bad.

I set it up to do a media scan, and I'm looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 18hrs now and it's still going.... More importantly, when this is complete, and I add some new music, will the scan just hit the new tracks, or will it go through the whole library again? If you have any experience with this please fill me in if you can.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a lenovo notebook with switchable graphics (Intel HD and ATI Radeon 5650), and I'd like to have Ubuntu use the integrated graphics, but I can't figure out how. The BIOS has two graphics options: switchable and discrete. On discrete just the ATI card runs, but on switchable, it seems like both cards are being used. Is it possible to use just the integrated graphics?
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe two integrated USB ports on a laptop of mine running Ubuntu 10.10 mysteriously stopped working a while back after some random updates. They still have power, and they are still recognized by the system, as per lsusb:

But although the ports still power up any connected appliances, they won't actually function. Any mouse I've tried so far won't work, nor will any external USB drive mount when connected. I don't even know where to begin to look. I believe the problem arose after an update to the xorg server, but I'm not sure. I just updated the kernel to 2.6.35-27, but that didn't solve the problem.
Dell Inspiron with dual integrated mics. I get no sound when i try to record with the integrated webcam. I have everything turned all the way up in the mixer, ie: mic, capture, mux, etc but still no sound.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop computer with integrated ATI graphics. Specs below and lspci log attached. I was running 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope until 1 week ago. Everything worked fine from the day I installed it. It's default driver worked fine and graphics requiring applications like Google Earth and Secret Maryo Chronicles (game) ran smoothly. Then about a week or so ago I did a clean install of Lucid on this PC. And now Secret Maryo Chronicles runs choppy and Google Earth doesn't run and display images smoothly. I could understand having problems like this if I were switching to Fedora or something but I'm still using the same distro (and both are recent versions).
Computer Specs:
ATI Radeon Xpress 200 integrated graphics with 256 MB RAM

2 GB RAM (.25 being used for graphics card)

You would basically have a divider between the shell, and the GUI, so that you could resize either, depending on which you were working with more. For some programs, which open a new shell (aeroscript for example), that stays open behind the GUI, or has an ASCII "GUI", the program would simply open in a tab of the shell. The main shell would be dynamic; meaning that whenever you selected a new window in your GUI, the shell would automatically cd to that directory, in order to save some time. This would be especially useful when editing many files at once with a text editor such as Nano or VI. Alternatively, there could be a different shell tab open for each session of the file explorer. This however, could get quite cluttered. It's still a pretty raw idea. I did some Googling, and so far haven't come up with any similar ideas or actualities." View 4 Replies View RelatedThis problem doesn't really have anything to do with Linux, but I've used Linux exclusively for 10 years and this system is Ubuntu bound anyway, (plus i don't trust other forums, always with the windows) so... Basically, my brother's GF's computer has a broken integrated graphics card. Literally. Some of the the solder points have broken, and it just doesn't work anymore. The plan is/was replace it with an Nvidia Geforce N6200 AGP since it has an AGP slot. The rest of the MoBo seems fine.
The problem is I don't know how to switch from the broken integrated graphics to the new AGP. The screen will not come on with the monitor plugged into either of them. Will a bios reset switch them for me (so I can finally fix this damn thing)? Or is a new motherboard necessary?

I have an Asus M4A78L-M motherboard that has integrated ATI Radeon HD3000 video. Should I be looking for a driver specific to the integrated video, or should I be looking for a driver specific to the motherboard? I'm not sure if I should look for something different if the video is integrated onto the motherboard, as opposed to a separate video card. View 4 Replies View RelatedI just finished installing a fresh install of openSuse on my old Compaq Presario V2600 laptop. The problem is, for some reason, it always boots to the terminal instead of starting x and the gnome desktop environment. I have to manually start x every time with the command startx. Then, after x has been started, the display is an unusually low resolution, and it wont let me change it. I tried running sax2 -r -m 0=vesa but this did not help fix the problem.
The second problem I am having is that my integrated wireless on the laptop does not work. It is a Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN. Please help with this as well (I know I will probably have to use proprietary drivers just like I did in Ubuntu, but I can't find how to install these drivers under openSuse.) If you need to know more about the specs of my laptop, here you go:

I can only log into X with "vesa" driver (otherwise it gives me the black screen) and ubuntu never boots directly into GDM, always the console.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu netbook edition 10.04 and i have an eMachines netbook and ive decided to get ubuntu. And i had many problems getting to work, but ultimatly got it to work pretty well. But my wireless will not work! And the driver for it wont install.

I previously had a dual output Nvidia 7300le which worked fine with 2 monitors (2xDell e196fp). Now however I have just added a new monitor to my setup (and a different graphics card). I've gotten to the stage where it recognises all 3 monitors (2xdell 196fp and 1x samsung syncmaster) and also the new graphics card (Nvidia PCIe 210)...it took me ages to get to this stage and a lot of hacking around in the bios!
I've got it so that it runs two monitors fine (the two connected to the graphics card) but I cant manage to extend the desktop onto the monitor connected to the integrated GPU (I can on windows). It definitely recognises it as when I startup it gives me a command prompt on the 3rd window (integrated gpu) and then when I do startx it runs the session on the other two monitors!
