I just installed fedora 14 and i'm trying to connect using a movistar zte mf110 dongle. fedora recognizes the stick no problem, accepts the PIN, and finds the network with good reception. but when i try to connect it tries and tries with no result.

The OS had detected my CNET Wireless-G USB Dongle (CWD-854). I have a Linksys Wireless Router (WRT-120N). I see in the top right corner of the OS the wireless icon. When I click on it, it displays the SSID of my wireless. When I click on it, it ask me for my wireless password. It start to try to connect to my wireless router, but it always end up disconnecting.

I had a lot of problems at first working this one out. So I made a program to create the bluetooth com port.
1. Download and install the program sjdsoftbt-tool from my website[url] or directly here *sjdsoftbt-tool*
It was made in gambas 2.0 but it should install the required dependencies automaticly .
2. Follow the instruction on my How to Guide this covers most phones and there pit falls and problems you can have.
I have run Fedora 9 and 10 on my Dell Inspiron 640m for about 6 months now and generally experience very few issues with it. Specifically I've been running Fedora 10 KDE 64bit since it was launched. Up until I had to reload it a couple of weeks ago my Vodafone Huawei E172 3G dongle worked perfectly with Network Manager. Since the reload the dongle is detected by the OS (lsusb lists it correctly, etc) but nothing I do will make it appear in Network Manager.
I've tried manually configuring a GSM connection then plugging it in, but no joy. I've also tried using it in my Acer Aspire One which runs Fedora 10 XFCE and it work, but when I try it in another Dell Laptop running Fedora 10 KDE 64 bit it doesn't. I'm assuming that a recent update must have caused some issue as it has definitely worked in both Dell laptops in the past. As mentioned I've reloaded recently but the other laptop hasn't been.
I'm unsure where to go from here. I haven't been able to get Vodafone's beta drivers working under F10 (although I did under F9) and can't find any posts on this issue. The version of Network Manager that I'm running is NetworkManager-0.7.0-1.git20090102.fc10.src.rpm, which was released shortly before I reloaded. Chances are I just didn't try my dongle between the update coming out and the reload, so didn't notice the problem before hand.
I bought the modem above (ZTE MF627), which works great in Windows 7. My laptop dual boots between Windows 7 and Fedora 12, so I rebooted into Fedora and spent a few hours trying to get the modem working. Scouring the Ubuntu forums (as there's only one post on these forums and it simply didn't work), I found a few possible solutions, but nothing seems to be solving the problem. Here goes... The modem gets picked up by the kernel and appears as a USB device.

I few days ago I bought a mobile broadband, with dongle model Huawei e1820. I have no problem connecting to the internet. The settings in network manager are correct. But when I use the modem with high traffic for a while, like streaming, the speed gets slower and slower until finally the modem shuts down and restarts itself. After the modem restarts, it connects to the internet again, but now the speed is terrible. And if i continue using high traffic it will restart itself in a matter of minutes. But if I plug it out and don't use it for a while, the speed is back to "acceptable". For a while...
I'm using fedora 15, and have also tried it on Ubuntu Natty with the same result. Reinstalled usb_modeswitch. configured usb_modeswitch with all the guides on the web. No results.

I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and its great. However when I connect to the internet at home it shows that the connection has been established but I still cant connect to the internet. My flatmates are all able to connect. However, I am able to connect from work both wirelessly and through an ethernet cable.

I am currently trying to set up OpenWRT linux on the router. Because of the nature of my problem I have also posted this on their forum.I am having trouble connecting to my OpenWRT install via Fedora. Things seem okay in Windows, but when I try to connect from linux my laptop locks up completely and I have to hard reboot. I previously have never had any trouble connecting to any other router with this install of Fedora.

Is there a way to check or set up static IP and port fowarding on Fedora itself or is that all done on the router? I ask because when I use ConnectBot's ssh app on my android and connect from within the LAN to the computer 192.168.2.9:22 it says Connection lost, no route to host.

View 8 Replies View Relatedon Debian/Ubuntu in the login form (i suppose it's "gdm") from the bottom right corner I can pick the option to login to a remote XDMPC desktop (that of course I enabled on the other side..) the network is checked for those open XDMCP service and finally, the login box appears and i can remotely login to a "graphic terminal".
How can I do the same in Fedora? I found some guide about Xnest, Xzephyr, but I was totally unable to find a way for doing this simple task.
Got up this morning and switched on theLinux Box and started getting wifi connect problems. I could work for about 5 mins then it would start searching and asking me to confirm to connect to my network.After some time NM kept on asking all the time to confirm the network and key.I reset the router and check to see if other PCs were OK and a Windoze & Linux laptops were fine, no problem there so it's not the routerd.I'm wondering if the broadcomm card is starting to fail as it heats up or could it be a corrupt file or parametersNo updates have been done in the last month, it just started today. I have been through a lot of posts and was still unable to connect to the internet using wvdial utility after doing all the changes. I being a newbie to this operating system, didn't know how to get started. After going through a lot of posts, I came across an application that is going to be a part of Fedora 12 called ' blueman '. It is used to connect to the internet using a gprs enabled phone via bluetooth. It integrates itself with Network Manager making it even more easier to use. To install it type the following commands in the terminal:
su
Type in your password and hit enter. Then type
yum install blueman
The application is only 575kb and will install instantly.And after a reboot fedora will show an applet related to that application. Open it and click search to list all available devices and select your phone and then select bond to pair your phone with your computer ( if it isn't already). After bonding right click your phone and select serial ports>dial up service. this will make the gprs/edge/3G connection to appear in network manager and selecting it will connect your computer to the internet.
This was the bluetooth way. If you want to connect through USB, just plug in your phone and select PC Suite mode in your phone. The fedora installation will automatically detect your phone as a modem and the connection will appear in the network manager.
This works on all N series Nokia phones and also most other phones as well.
I'm using ADSL modem (not router) and I can't connect to internet. The network manager and the pppoe-setup command doesn't work. So I'm asking some of the experienced users of fedora 12 to help me setup my connection.

On the 19/20th October (2010) MS appear to have changed something in their MSN servers and Empathy on F13 (v2.30.3) no longer connects. Instead you get a Red bar saying there is an error, bu no other real info apart from '500' network errors (not even in the logs).Discussion on the Ubuntu lists has confirmed + identified the culprit and a workaround has been posted. Cludos to 'Kakaroto' and 'Dennis Tring' on that list!

During the last few days of dying Fedora stopped being able to connect to my Linksys Wireless G router(I'm hard wired), or detect any connections. I just assumed this was the hard drives fault.
Now, I have a new WD hard drive with Fedora 14 on it and still cannot connect to the internet. I fear worst case scenario would be my ethernet port is dead but I wouldnt know how to detect that. I thought that it might be a problem of drivers also but couldnt find anything on this subject.

I've just installed Fedora 11, and in the process of testing it, decided on trying out virtualization tools.
Services: libvirtd, xenner and xend are started and i'm still unable to connect to hypervisor with the message:
Unable to open a connection to the Xen hypervisor/daemon.
Verify that:
- A Xen host kernel was booted
- The Xen service has been started
Unable to open connection to hypervisor URI 'xen:///':
<class 'libvirt.libvirtError'> unable to connect to 'localhost:8000': Connection refused
None
xend.log is empty
Now, I've also tried installing Fedora 11 x86_64 as a guest OS with KVM/QEMU as a solution, and the installation process starts, but after some time, the console screen goes black and there is no DVD driver activity or HDD led activity. The CPU is at 2-5 % utilization. And there is nothing I can think of to 'resume' the installation or whatever.
