Fedora Networking :: ZTE MF627 3G USB Dongle On 3UK Didn't Work

Mar 17, 2010

I bought the modem above (ZTE MF627), which works great in Windows 7. My laptop dual boots between Windows 7 and Fedora 12, so I rebooted into Fedora and spent a few hours trying to get the modem working. Scouring the Ubuntu forums (as there's only one post on these forums and it simply didn't work), I found a few possible solutions, but nothing seems to be solving the problem. Here goes... The modem gets picked up by the kernel and appears as a USB device.

Debian Hardware :: Dongle Does Not Work Directly Out Of Box

Dec 14, 2014

I am running Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi...I have read that the v2 version of this dongle does not work directly out of the box.Their are multiple tutorials online which provide some pre-compiled files that can be dragged and dropped into some directories and it allows the dongle to work. URL....

However, I would rather download and compile from scratch myself but am unsure how to do this. The raw driver files are available on github here. URL....

(many authors providing pre-compiled files confirm they got the original files from here too).I have used wget and performed the following

mkdir wifiSetup
mv master.zip wifiSetup

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Can't Get Bluetooth USB Dongle To Work

May 26, 2010

based on the HW compatibility list, I bought a Conrad "Bluetooth Stick Micro" (Order number 97 19 99) => Does someone know, if this is "really" the one mentioned in the compatibility list ? Can I find out, what chip(set) is used ? (I'm somewhat "afraid", that the name might be the same, but the chip(set) changed. No, it is unfortunately not mentioned in the documentation coming with it) Unfortunately I didn't get it to work on Suse 11.2 (64 Bit) so far. This is what I tried: Installed bluetooth packages, based on the information I found.

These are:

root@godot:~ # rpm -qa | grep -i blue
bluez-gnome-1.8-9.4.x86_64
kdebluetooth4-0.3-9.1.x86_64
bluez-4.56-1.1.1.x86_64

[code]...

I looked for a bluetooth section in yast2, but couldn't fine one. (I think I saw one in earlier releases...) => Did I miss it ? Do I miss a package ? (I checked all packages containing "yast" for something.) So, with no yast2 module present, how do I do the basic configuration ? The documents I could find all describe how to use the bluetooth connection, if the basic setup suceeded.

Ubuntu Networking :: Getting USB WiFi Dongle To Work?

Nov 19, 2010

I've bought this Blumax USB WLAN adapter 9009 (ID 148f:2573 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2501/RT2573 Wireless Adapter). I was specifically happy to read in its specs that it supports Linux [URL].

However, it turned out that the co-packaged CD drive doesn't contain anything Linux-related, and the support page online has gzip package with many files I don't know what to do with [URL]. The online support swallowed my query and hasn't returned any answer.

So, now I am wondering what to do. I don't feel so competent as to be able to compile the drivers on my own, specifying several specific parameters. At least it doesn't compile with default params. how to move forward with this. Apart from returning the device, because I'm too far now from the place where I bought this.

General :: Get Vodafone Dongle To Work With Ubuntu?

May 16, 2011

I am trying to get my daughters Ubuntu Laptop to connect to the internet via a Vodafone USB dongle.

I have managed to get the modem itself to connect to Vodafone using the Sakis3G script (brilliant), however once connected the laptop will not pass data through this connection. i.e. when I select "Vodafone prepaid" as a network connection, the little pop up comes up and says GSM no connected?

When I get a connection information from Sakis, it gives an IP address and even had a tiny bit of throughput, however I do not know how to tell it to use the vodafone thingy.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: VGA Monitor Doesn't Work With Dongle

Feb 18, 2010

I am experiencing a strange problem. I have two vga monitors and a ATI Radeon HD 3300 embedded on my motherboard. My embedded graphics card has a vga and dvi output. When I plug my monitors in (one uses a dvi to vga dongle) only the one with out the dongle gets a signal. I can swap which monitor uses the dongle and still only the one that does not use the dongle gets a signal (both monitors work, only if they are not using a dongle). Both Ubuntu and Windows are having trouble displaying video, but no trouble detecting the monitors (display settings show both monitors but do not tell me good resolutions for them). My friend has a different dvi to vga dongle, his only has about half of the dvi pins while mine has all the pins. Could the problem be that my dongle has all the dvi pins

Slackware :: Udev Rule Not Starting Gpsd During Boot?

May 29, 2011

I'm trying to configure gpsd 2.96 to start automatically from udev rule on a Slack 13.37 box.1. I've compiled and installed gpsd from sources and made sure it starts manually.2. I've copied the /lib/udev/gpsd.hotplug and /lib/udev/gpsd.hotplug.wrapper scripts in their places from the source tree and made them executable.3. I've copied the gpsd.rules file from sources into /etc/udev/rules.d4. I renamed it 99-persistent-gpsd.rules to run late in the bootup process.5. I've copied the /etc/default/gpsd file from sources and made sure it has the right settings inside.

Now, for the results. If I plug the gps usb dongle in while the system runs, it starts gpsd if it is not started, and it connects to it just as it should. But if I start the system with the dongle in, gpsd doesn't get started during boot. I can't find any relevant message in /var/log/syslog or /var/log/messages for boot time. There is stuff there from when I plug the dongle in while the system is running though. It's like udev ignores the rules for it at boot time.Is there something in the Slackware boot scripts that would prevent running those scriptssd.hotplug.wrapper which in turn runs /lib/udev/gpsd.hotplug which is a Python script)? Here is the contents of 99-persistent-gpsd.rules (ignore the comments referring to Debian, it was meant for a Debian box). My usb gps adapter is the first one - the Prolific chipset one:

Code:
# udev rules for gpsd
# $Id: gpsd.rules 5861 2009-08-03 13:41:01Z bzed $

Fedora Networking :: 3G Dongle Doesn't Appear In Network Manager?

Jan 20, 2009

I have run Fedora 9 and 10 on my Dell Inspiron 640m for about 6 months now and generally experience very few issues with it. Specifically I've been running Fedora 10 KDE 64bit since it was launched. Up until I had to reload it a couple of weeks ago my Vodafone Huawei E172 3G dongle worked perfectly with Network Manager. Since the reload the dongle is detected by the OS (lsusb lists it correctly, etc) but nothing I do will make it appear in Network Manager.

I've tried manually configuring a GSM connection then plugging it in, but no joy. I've also tried using it in my Acer Aspire One which runs Fedora 10 XFCE and it work, but when I try it in another Dell Laptop running Fedora 10 KDE 64 bit it doesn't. I'm assuming that a recent update must have caused some issue as it has definitely worked in both Dell laptops in the past. As mentioned I've reloaded recently but the other laptop hasn't been.

I'm unsure where to go from here. I haven't been able to get Vodafone's beta drivers working under F10 (although I did under F9) and can't find any posts on this issue. The version of Network Manager that I'm running is NetworkManager-0.7.0-1.git20090102.fc10.src.rpm, which was released shortly before I reloaded. Chances are I just didn't try my dongle between the update coming out and the reload, so didn't notice the problem before hand.

Fedora Networking :: Mobile Broadband Dongle Restarts Itself?

Sep 5, 2011

I few days ago I bought a mobile broadband, with dongle model Huawei e1820. I have no problem connecting to the internet. The settings in network manager are correct. But when I use the modem with high traffic for a while, like streaming, the speed gets slower and slower until finally the modem shuts down and restarts itself. After the modem restarts, it connects to the internet again, but now the speed is terrible. And if i continue using high traffic it will restart itself in a matter of minutes. But if I plug it out and don't use it for a while, the speed is back to "acceptable". For a while...

I'm using fedora 15, and have also tried it on Ubuntu Natty with the same result. Reinstalled usb_modeswitch. configured usb_modeswitch with all the guides on the web. No results.
