Jun 26, 2011I just installed ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop. Everything works well, but I have problem with sound. Output is OK as I can hear any sound from the computer; but there is no input sound from the mic. I am unable to record any voice or talk in voice chat.

Mar 14, 2011Does anyone know of a commercial program that will run on openSUSE?I need something that is fairly user friendly, identifies individual voices, and does not require Wine. The machine is to be completely controlled by voice and would be programmed to issue vocals in response to vocal requests for what is in the various databases and I/O software, such as motion control and other sensor subsystems. In other words, a program that lends itself to AI robotics.I do not have the time to develop CMSphinx, and I am willing to pay. I have been on a few sites but they are cryptic as far as the technicals, which I do not fully understand anyway.

May 9, 2010I was playing around on my ibook g4 and thought I would try out Midori. I was pleasantly surprised to see it would allow an html5 applet to open on ...... Sadly, the video never begins playing, so I believe I must need to install the non-free codecs package...if it does indeed contain h.264.
I've used Ubuntu off and on over the years, so my knowledge of how to do a lot things is quite limited. I've been searching online for hours and can not find the information I need to install the non-free codecs...or just h.264 in general. I saw one post about adding medibuntu repositories, but the address relating to nonfree codecs for the ppc gives a 404 when it is going through the apt-get update in the terminal.

May 12, 2010In case I missed it in my seaching is there a 3rd party Gnome plugin available for Perlbox Voice? It really is an excellent piece of software, though unfortunately it doesn't play well with Gnome. And I REALLY don't want to switch to KDE. Their website hasn't been updated in awhile, and their powers-that-be are requesting help with programming one. If it doesn't exist is their anyone that I could request/beg/bribe to make one?

Oct 13, 2010I have installed Fedora 11 recently on a new system. Sphinx speech recognition was working fine on my old system. When i run the same project on my new system, the system does not respond as it is waiting for microphone voice input.

Or if there isn't any free virtualization software that will dowat I want that's free then something that is not expensive that's paid for. I like the look of Parallels Desktop 4 for Windows & Linux but I'm not sure if I would be able to justify paying �54.99 for the ammount of use that it will get?

May 18, 2011I've got a question on free disk space. I'm currently running CentOS 5.5 on in Xenserver virtual environment. We've had an issue with disk space. My question is as follows: - from a ssh connection i run df -h this gives the value of 90% used leaving me with 9GB. If I use system monitor via a VNC connection the free disk space value is 20GB free on the same volume. Which one is correct? I do use SNMP to monitor the same volume and should alert me when < 10% is free I know this works as I set the alert threshold to < 90% I get an alert.

Jun 20, 2010Ive being digging around the net for some clarification about the Off-The-Record plugin for Pigdin (and other IM's). Basically i want to know if it uses the SHA-1 or SHA-2 hash function. Some might say im wearing my tin foil hat but the SHA-1 was cracked in 2005 and as far as i know SHA 2 is much more secure.
Wikipedia states it's SHA 1 and the authors of the OTR plugin mention both SHA-1 and SHA-2 in their documentation, and i couldnt find an active pidgin forum (could only find the archived pigdin forums on sourgeforge)
