Debian :: Rhythmbox Radio Stations - A Good Free Virtualization Software Package That Work On OpenSuse With The KDE Desktop?
Apr 2, 2011
I have done some googling - same question being asked by others but no answer I could find .. so here goes...
I am using Rhythmbox to listen to radio stations - I would like to import a lot of stations into it without having to go through a huge list adding individually. a good free Virtualization Software Package that work on OpenSuse with the KDE Desktop
Can anyone suggest a good free Virtualization Software Package that work on OpenSuse with the KDE Desktop, as I need to use Windows for some applications that have not got a Linux equivelant, Namely Reserch In Motions BlackBerry Desktop Manager and the drivers for my Printer and Scanner, so I would also need something with USB pass through. Or if there isn't any free virtualization software that will dowat I want that's free then something that is not expensive that's paid for. I like the look of Parallels Desktop 4 for Windows & Linux but I'm not sure if I would be able to justify paying 54.99 for the ammount of use that it will get?
I just installed OpenSuse 11.2 KDE on my Macbook and try as I might, I cannot get used to Amarok. I like Banshee and it's simple interface, plus the way it handles radio stations and the like.
I did install it using YaST and I am able to run it, but I am unable to add internet radio stations and also I am unable to play them (and other MP3 files) if I manually connect to the stream. As far as adding radio stations, I am unable to because the Genre box stays grayed out and the Save button stays grayed out because the Genre box has not been filled in (but I can't because it's grayed out). As far as playing MP3s, Banshee says I need a codec and when i click 'Search' for a suitable codec, it takes me to an OpenSuse download page with the decoder there but it's for OpenSuse 10.3, not 11.2.
These are probably simple problems with simple solutions but I can't seem to figure them out. Also, K3B says the MP3 Decoder is missing as well. I'm sure it is related to the Banshee problem too.
I'm trying to get a "network device" (read Internet Radio) to play the BBC stations. Apparently they changed their format late last year, and the radio (using Frontier Silicon Wi-Fi Radio Portal - Member Login) can no longer play the streams ("Network error" message). I thought I would try manually setting something up, but it is not easy trying to find what the actual streams are, when everything is playing in the iPlayer. Is there a Suse/Linux app that can identify streams coming in, when being played in iPlayer..
i'm getting no audio from online streaming like radio stations etc. videos such as videos and the like seem to be fine though. i presume i'm missing some package which is in synaptic.
Is there an Ubuntu program that gives access to Internet radio stations like iTunes?
iTunes radio setting on Mac has hundreds or thousands of internet radio stations that the user can select from and listen to. Is there such an app for Ubuntu? That would be easier than finding all their web sites and bookmarking them.
genre breakout with shoutcast stations.today no radio.ran in terminal did reinstall, remove/ install in synaptic; still no go.upgraded exaile to 0.3.2.0; still no go.did do automated system update today.
I've just discovered the app TuneIn on my Android phone, it allows you to access radio stations that broadcast over the net, as well net-only ones, in an easy searchable interface (the 'backend' is the website radiotime.com).
Is there a way to do a similar thing on Opensuse? Currently I have a small list of stations in banshee which I had to manually add - a very painstaking manual process. Is there a plugin for banshee or another program that does this well?
We liked the idea to broadcast-stream live for our fellow students. Firstly we thought to start with music and then continue with interviews. If we cannot make it live, then we can play a recorded interview.
As I saw, both are playing with winamp for windows. Is there something helpful for playing with openSUSE (or linux in general)?
You'll tell me that most of my friends use windows, why now use their? I just wanted to make it open source and try to play some CC music first (like jamendo).
Just noticed yesterday, don't know how long this has been going on. BUT I won't seem to be able to use any other workstation except number 1. It won't let me move applications between workstations.
How does a person determine the URL of the audio stream for a Live365 broadcast in order to create a new radio station entry in Rhythmbox? I would like to be able to access and listen to the audio stream completely from within Rhythmbox.
I'm having an issue with rhythmbox in Lucid. I can add and play new radio stations fine. However, upon closing rhythmbox and reopening the radio station disappears from the list. Is there a way to get the stations I add to stay?
A few days ago, all streaming on my 10.10 stopped working, except flash. MPlayer in firerfox is not working anymore, neither is streaming internet radio with rhythmbox. Radio stations that worked only days ago stopped responding, giving an error message that the location was not found. Does this have anything to do with gstreamer maybe?
I found it's possible to record with rhythmbox player witch I found it's default Ubuntu media player but I cannot find way how to record Internet radio
I'm using Ubuntu Karmic Koala with Gnome desktop.I listen to online radio with Rhythmbox, I have all the necessary URLs loaded in.Now Rhythmbox is a great program but it seems like overkill just to listen to online radio. Is anyone using an alternative for this purpose, something small and neat?
Using Rhythmbox to stream your music to multiple potential listeners over the Internet. But mostly, writing down how I did it so I don't have to re-do all the research the next time.StepsInstall icecast2: APT linkEdit /etc/icecast2/icecast.xml to configure your password at least. You need to add a user-specific password for the username that will be running Rhythmbox. For example, if your username is john you need to putQuote:<john-password>ChangeThisPassword</john-password>between the <authentication> </authentication> tags.I also suggest you set the port to 8000.Restart icecast2 using the following command:
Code: sudo /etc/init.d/icecast2 restart Download the attached script (shout2send.tar.gz) and extract it to
I've tried to contact the BBC on this but they cleverly seem to have made this impossible ! Does anyone know if there is a none Microsoft feed for radio 4, I have all my radio stations set up and working using Rhythmbox but cannot listen to radio 4 as it's a mms feed.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit Ubuntu with a wired nic card connected straight to the cable modem. When I try going to Free Internet Radio - SHOUTcast Radio - Thousands of Free Online Radio Stations I get an error message that it is unable to connect. I tried it with Firefox 3.6.11 and Opera 10.06 and neither one will make a connection to Shoutcast web page.
I don't have it blocked with iptables and I don't think the Ad Block plug-in is a factor as Opera won't connect either. But if I try it with IE in XP running in VirtualBox on the same Ubuntu system it will connect to the web page! Is it something with my Ubuntu system or is Shoutcast blocking access to Linux users?
I installed opensuse 11.2 64-bit edition. I installed all of the software I wanted.I now want to clone the installation to 6 other workstations that are 100% identical to the first.I used clonezilla to create the image, but all of the new workstations will not boot. This is due to the fact of the fstab being 100% cloned and other boot volume problems.Does anyone know of a good, easy way to clone opensuse 11.2 that will work?
