I have a question with named and cname records. I wrote a CNAME record into a zone yesterday:
valami.teszt.hu. IN CNAME teszt.hu.
teszt.hu has an A record:
teszt.hu. 14400 IN A val.id.I.P
I restarted named. My problem is: when I visit valami.teszt.hu I get the "Apache is functioning normally" message, and not teszt.hu. And if I write an A record for valami.teszt.hu instead of CNAME record (valami.teszt.hu. 14400 IN A val.id.I.P), the valami.teszt.hu will display
message mentioned above too.
I'm running Ubuntu Server 10.04 to provide DHCP and Internet Sharing on my home LAN. In a previous configuration, I was running Fedora + AMAHI to provide the same services. As most of my linux devices are Ubuntu, I decided to decommission and rebuild my server. I've been able to configure all of my services with the exception of one. As a rule, I assign static IP or reservations based on MAC address's for any of my network devices or appliances.
One cool feature that AMAHI provided a GUI for, was the ability to recognize devices by name as well as IP. i.e.. "http://192.168.1.50" or "http://home-NAS" Going from memory, the long name upon first entry may actually have been "http://home-NAS.adomainname.com"? From my reading, I think I either need to setup up a Static Alias or CNAME for each assigned IP. I can't find any tutorial's that will walk me through this process. I'm guessing I need to generate the records under one of the master DNS zones, but that is just a guess?
I want to set up a web server on a PIII machine with about 800MHz processor and just under 500 megs of RAM. So how would I go about configuring Fedora 12 to do this? I've tried the small spins and I just don't know how to configure it so it will install properly. I was able to get the Gnome spin on it but when it booted I couldn't get through the log-on screen. I have an AGP NVIDIA Geoforce 6200 video card. I'm wondering it that's it. The only Linux distros I could get on the machine was Puppy and Debian. Puppy did not edit the boot record very well. Debian went on there with very minor issues, but edited the master boot record very well so that I can dual boot to WindowsXp HE. I also tried to put Centos on there but the Live CD is not installable. I have to make an installation CD from the DVD Package. Anyways, as far as Fedora is concerned, I just want a utility, light weight spin that has web-server, mail server, and eventually MySQL. Other wise I'll have to commit treason and use the horned Debian as my savior in this battle.

There's this domain, that is apparently a cname of a cname which is, I know, not recommended, but it's not forbidden by the rfc. The domain is [URL]. If I try with windows or bind dns I get this results in nslookup:

but if I try with opendns I have some results.

With this I see it's a [URL] it's a cname or a cname. Is there a way to force bind to resolve this domain? Is this a limitation of bind?
I setup 2 servers for DHCP and DDNS failover. But I see only Master DNS can update to db. file. When I disconnect Master, the Slave can release new IP to client but can't update record to db. file.

For example, if I want:

After reading this pdf on top 5 things to log for security, ive decided to attempt this for my webserver. how i might setup some logging systems to do these tasks. Basic things i need to be able to do: Record things like password attempts on htaccess files, from what IP address, and how many attempts there were. Basically i want to know if it uses the SHA-1 or SHA-2 hash function. Some might say im wearing my tin foil hat but the SHA-1 was cracked in 2005 and as far as i know SHA 2 is much more secure.
Wikipedia states it's SHA 1 and the authors of the OTR plugin mention both SHA-1 and SHA-2 in their documentation, and i couldnt find an active pidgin forum (could only find the archived pigdin forums on sourgeforge)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Fedora 15 XFCE spin, Audacity 1.3.13-beta and my sound is ALSA/Pulseaudio (I'm not totally sure what these are anyway, are they drivers?) Anyway, when I'm in Audacity and I go to the record options I can choose from default, pulse, and HDA ATI SB:ALC268 Analog (hw:0,0). If I try any of these three options and press record I get static. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like to press record for each of the three options in order.

The last option won't even record nothing, it just doesn't work. Also, if you look where the little picture of the microphone is, the option to drag the input volume is greyed out.

I installed the normal suite of tools using yum, including gcc. However, I cannot even build and run Hello World, so now I really feel like I don't know what's going on.

i installed ubuntu inside windows but someone instead of uninstalling it directly deleted the ubuntu folder inside windows ,thinking that the partition will be deleted. but when i restarted the system and command prompt came and said unable to find boot record and i couldn't boot windows as well and a grub prompt came like grub>, then i inserted the windows boot cd and repair the boot record error but my problem is , instead of doing this way, can i do so by grub prompt directly without using winidows cd.
