Fedora :: Signature Doesn't Work In Evolution Email?
Sep 28, 2010I am using Evolution 2.28.3 with Fedora 12. If I go to preferences and try to add a signature or signature script the textbox goes from slightly blue to white but I can't enter any text or paste anything in it. I also noticed that it won't let be check the box for signature above previous message.
Is it broken or am I missing something?
Server :: Nagios Email Notification Unable To Work With Nail Mail
Oct 22, 2009I've gotten myself involved in the Nagios monitoring tools and somewhat managed to configure the Nagios host, but I'm still having some issues with the email notifications.
From what I've read/researched, one of the favourite methods to get the email notification up is by using sendmail/postfix. I've went through it and learned that they are MTAs. What I actually needed is just a basic email client, and I would email the notices directly to an email address over the internet. Thus, I wont be needing something as complex like sendmail/postfix.
I gotten my hands on "Nail mail". I've successfully configured it to be able to send emails from my linux machine over the internet. However, when I copied the same command lines to nagios's contact.cfg, it did not work.
This is the command line that I'm using. Let me explain what I'm trying to achieve below. Firstly, I would save all the text notifications into a text file(green), and then email it out. The problem is NailMail command (red) does not work on Nagios,but the command line works in the terminal command on my Nagios account. Has anyone attempted using Nail mail with Nagios?
Fedora :: Error While Fetching Email. Evolution Version: Evolution 2.28.0
Apr 5, 2010I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

Fedora :: F11 - No Sound Notification For New Mail In Evolution
Aug 9, 2009I have just upgraded to F11 (from F9) and most things work pretty well. I can't read DVDs or CDs but I see there is another thread open on that, and VMWare-player has a few problems but otherwise I an a reasonably happy camper. The "new mail notification" in Evolution won't play my sound. Other sound apps work OK (mplayer, amarok etc) and I can play the .wav file in question simply by hovering the mouse over it in Nautilus - so I know it's not a general sound problem (and besides - I have followed Silpheed2k's guide here). In the Evolution plugins dialogue the sound file is selected, but the test button doesn't play it and when new mail arrives the other notification methods (pop up message + blinking icon) work just fine. It worked in F9 with the same sound file.

Jul 19, 2011I set up a new machine w/ f15 this past weekend. Everything seems to work fine except Evolution.The first time I ran Evolution I restored my Evolution v2.3 (mbox) files that I had backed up from F13. I did this from the setup wizard so I actually never "opened" Evolution. The conversion to maildir appeared to go OK, and I can see the files in /home/oldan/.local/share/evolution/mail/local/cur. Each file (there are 17,000+) can be opened, so the data conversion is intact.
However, I am unable to open the application at all. In the GUI (KDE) I get a spinning icon that goes away in about 30 sec. From a command prompt as a regular user I get:[oldan@Fedora15-001 Documents]$ evolution (evolution:4822): Unique-GDBus-WARNING **: Error while sending message: Timeout was reached
As root I get[root@Fedora15-001 Documents]# evolution No protocol specified Cannot open display: Any one have a clue as to what might be happening?

I want to be able to intersperse my replies within a quoted reply i.e. if the email had three paragraphs, I'd like to be able to have my replies between each of the paragraphs. At the moment, I don't seem to be able to do anything other than delete from the quoted section - I try to simulate my requirements by cutting and then 'paste quotation', but this doesn't always work as sometimes Evolution adds too many levels of '> ' .

Fedora :: F10 - Evolution Stopped Sending Email To Exchange Server
Jan 7, 2009I am working happily with Fedora 8, evolution chatting happily to exchange 2003, calendar sync the works...impressed. This continued through Fedora 9 (though a little bumpy as all odd numbered Fedora releases are). On to Fedora 10, yes works a treat out of the box (DVD). A couple of updates to evolution later, through yumex (fedora updates), and evolution has stopped sending email to the exchange server. It's also touch and go whether I can read email using OWA.
On pressing 'Send/Receive' evolution pops the error,
Error while performing operation.
Exchange transport can only be used with Exchange mail source.
How could I back out these evolution updates?

Mar 25, 2010Running the Lynx and I have set up Evolution to download my Gmail e-mails but now I have a question.
When Evolution is running I get the notifications when e-mail come in and the little envelope at the top becomes "lit" to indicate I have new mail. What I want to know is how can I get notified without having the application "open", still having the notifications etc. but without having the application window open (like when you "close" Rhythmbox but it is still running at the top even though the windows is closed)?

I have noticed that when I get a new email, it never shows a new mail icon in the panel. I had the same problem with 9.10, and I thought the problem would go away when I upgraded to 10.4. I have checked the properties in Mail preferences:

Mar 16, 2011I've not been having any luck at all finding the answer to this, so thought I'd ask here: is there any way to get my servers to send an email when someone logs in through SFTP? I was able to get that to work with SSH using a simple bit of script in /etc/profile, but I can't find anything on Google about doing that with SFTP at all.
The OpenSSH version on my server is 5.2p1 running on FreeBSD 8.0. Any way to get the server to execute any command on SFTP login will be enough for me to get this set up.

Jan 14, 2011I have a setup with Centos 5.5, Nagios 3.2.3, sendmail 8.13.8. When a insident is happening Nagios notify-by-mail is triggered and Nagios sends via sendmail. Unfortunately there is a trailing $-sign added to the $CONTACTEMAIL. Sendmail cannot mail to xxx@mail.address$
A hack is to insert mailaddress in misccommands.cfg but I would like to have a more clean way.

May 5, 2010Nagios has been up and running for quite sometime now and no issues till this month. For some reason, Nagios kept failing to send notifications out to our department. Out of curiosity I've sent the email out manually and tailed the mail.log then found out that every email being sent is getting a "Connection Refused." Can this be a permission issue? If so where and why all of the sudden it just stopped working as none has changed in the OS (Ubuntu Core).
