I'm using Fedora 10, and I have a problem using WINE and derivatives (e.g. crossover)
When installing wine and trying to use any program via WINE I get no network connection whatsoever, no matter which program I try to use. I also tried reinstalling said programs and reinstalling wine, but nothing helped. Can anyone tell me what might be the problem there?
I am trying to Setup citrix ICA client 9 on Ubuntu 9.04 Server. I installed it very easily and I am not getting any lib error also. But when I try to connect to the citrix server, it fails with a pop up saying "Error in Network Connection Network or Dialup connection may be preventing ......" This is driving me crazy from 3 days. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to fedora and installed wine to see if I could get the sony reader software working (required to access sony bookstore from my sony ereader). Well the program did not work though it did create icons on my desktop. wine kept crashing and I said lets just get rid of it. I uninstalled wine via yum remove and nothing appeared to happen so I did rpm -qa |grep wine and saw lots of stuff. So I simply did yum remove wine* and then a rpm -qa |grep wine was empty. however wine is still under applications on my desktop and still has a category for programs--reader. I should also mention that while wine was installed I attempted to remove the reader via the wine uninstalller but a) wine gave a message of a core crash and b) all the uninstaller did was give me the option to reinstall the reader program. so now when I attempt to open an epub it tries with the sony reader software. I know I can just right click to use another program but for now I want wine gone completely from my pc and the sony program gone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed qemu/kvm and created a Bridged network connection which works just fine(Windows 7 VM won't work in NAT mode.)
But when I try to use NetworkManager it says that I have no network connection because the network isn't managed, (I set the settings in ifcfg-br0 and ifcfg-eth0 to be managed)
The real problem is that now I can't use my VPN connections (I have many) in NetworkManager.
Is there a way to have both of these pieces of functionality?

I'm also new with linux i tried ubuntu and mandriva, and they worked fine out of the box.But I wanted to try Fedora because it looks great to my opinion.After installing it, everything worked fine, so I updated the system, and after the update my internet doesn't connect anymore, but it does see my wlan ssid. but it just keeps on asking my wpa key.... everytime.

1. The network connection doesn't activate itself automaticaly. Have to do it every time when booted up.
2. At the taskbar icon the previously "Auto eth0" changed to "System eth0". I guess this is kind of connected to the first issue
3. I can't connect anymore to the windows network -Times out (also worked fine before)
How to set it up to the "old" way?

I have Fedora 10, and today I finally had an opportunity to let the automatic software updates run. At the end it said to restart the pc. I restarted and now it won't connect to the network. What do I do to get it connected again?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from ubuntu to fedora and had a script to mount and umount sshfs when the network changed states. I placed the scripts in /etc/network/if-up.d/ and /etc/network/if-down.d/ and they were run any time the network went up or down. The closest thing I've been able to find is editing the ifup and ifdown scripts in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripting/, but that looks like it would be broken after an update. I'd also rather not use a script with ping because that wouldn't work well when the network goes up and down several times.I've been looking for a while and haven't been able to find a method similar to debian on fedora. Is there something I overlooked?

When I edit my wireless settings and enable 'Allow all users' (I have a german locale so I don't know the exact words but I guess it's close enough) the connection drops and doesn't reconnect. If I click on the wlan access point manually (in the nm-applet) it asks for my WPA pass. This is odd since it was already in the wlan settings.
Then when I reset the 'Allow ...' to off, I'm asked for my su passwd and the connection is re-established. Ideally the nm would connect automatically at boot if the AP is available so I'm not happy with the current state...
I'm trying to share internet connection with my wifi capable mobile device. For that I'm creating ad-hoc wifi connection in networkmanager with 'shared to other computers' ipv4 option. And there is the problem - the device cannot get the setting via DHCP. The firewall is adjusted properly by NM, dnsmasq is started. I've looked at dnsmasq arguments string and found that the temporary config file which is provided by NM is empty. So, where else should I look for a possible reason or should I just post a NM bug?

View 5 Replies View RelatedFresh install of Fedora 14 from Live cd.Used it for an hour or so, d-loaded some programs, had ti all running great. Wired connection to internet. Had the Network Connection Manager icon in panel. There was an icon saying new updates, alot of them, like 400 or so. Told it to go ahead and up date, left room. Came back hour later was done, said it needed to re boot, so I did. From then on, no internet, not icon, no Network Connection in the drop down list for preferences.
What I have tried:Worked off live cd, again, all works fine, icon, manager, internet all there.In installed version: In terminal, typed service Network Manager, it said unrecognized service.Did yum install network manager. It started to do it, but looked like it was trying to get stuff off mirrors, and of course there is no internet access. error PYCURJ ERROR 6.Of course I can re install, but I figure I will just end up in the same place a few hours from now.
Wifi network operated perfectly with f13. Upgrading f13 to f14 did not show any problems except for networking. It seems that the wlan0-link is not ready. Consequently no network information about adresses can be obtained. Tried with network tools to activate wlan0. No reaction Tried to deactivate Networkmanager and bring network up with
service NetworkManager stop
ifconfig -a
Then
ifconfig wlan0 up
dhclient wlan0
No reaction on network. The NetworkManager icon disappears which is understandable.
I use network Manager to connect to wireless broadband on Fedora 12.Are there any tools that can provide me logs about connection times, bandwidth monitoring etc.Basically, I need logs like what kppp provides with accounting.
I can use kppp to connect and get the logs I need but I want to connect to the network as soon as I plug it in - Only Network Manager allows this.
At the moment I am installing a VMware Ubuntu machine. This machine has no internet connection.
I want to install wine, so I can install software that only runs under Windows.
I cannot find the packages to install wine under the VMware machine that will download to windows.
I have no clue on how to handle the source of wine, so I can download the source of wine, copy that to the VMware machine and use 'make' there.
How to proceed?
Ok, tried to compile source of wine on the VMware machine. It gave an error, since it was missing package flex. Compiling flex from source gave an error, since it was missing package m4. Trying to compile m4 gave an error, see make_install.log.
These were my steps:
Went to /usr/local/bin/ and unpacked m4 there.
Went into the m4 directory (m4-1.4.14).
/configure
make
make install
I can't get the configure log uploaded as an attachment, since it is too big. Splitting it into smaller sizes doesn't help either , since it will become more than 3 files (and 3 is the max to upload). If you want that log, please let me know and I will e-mail it to you.
What are my next steps to proceed? I want to compile the m4 package so I can proceed with flex.
I've installed F10 on my laptop since few days and I'm facing an annoying networking issue: the network connection seems to work well when, suddently, it goes down for a while, and then come back.This happens with both wired and wireless (Intel PRO/ Wireless 3945ABG) connection.

I have a wireless PCMCIA card.The model of the wireless card is NL-2511CD EXT2(ETSI).When I insert that card to the PCMCIA slot a window pops up and ask for a WEP key. My wireless router is configured with WPA but above pop-up has no WPA option. I suspect my fedora installation does not have the necessary driver for my wireless card.I want to install that driver. I can transfer that file to the machine via thumb drive since it has no network connection yet. How do I install this? Please refer below images as I'm still a newbie at linux.

View 13 Replies View RelatedJust replaced a working install of Ubuntu because i like GS over unity but i cant get my USB760 EVDO card to work. The usual fix of editing the cd.rules file and copying some information into modem.fdi does not seem to work on F15..
Also, noticed that when i attempt to create a broadband connection using network manager it allows me to go through all of the setup dialogs, but never actually adds the broadband connection.
I was on my wireless network when I accidently switched on "airplane mode". Several reboots later and I can't get back onto my network. It keeps prompting for a password, even though it's the correct password. I've booted into Mac OSX & Windows on the same laptop and they connect no problems.
How can I delete the network connection to take it from the top again ? You used to be able to right click on the network connection in F14, select "edit connections" and then delete anything that was offending. That seems to have been removed now though ? Where is it stored and where can I kill it ?
I changed the network setting and caused a problem of wireless network. After I completely reinstall the OS of Fedora 13, the wireless network is still incorrect for connection to router.
