I was using Fedora 12 beta release, now how to move away from raw-hide and start using fedora 12 Final repo and update it properly?

Edit: BTW , if i ran yum checkupdate,i start getting FC13 package listings, i see rawhide has already moved to FC13, good that i dont let yum auto-update.
I'm interested in trying out the 10.04 beta release. Does anyone know if it will be possible to upgrade from the beta to the final version once it is released in April? Or will I have to perform a fresh install of the final version?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm so excited to see how nicely Lubuntu 10.04 runs on my EeePC. I went ahead and installed it, knowing that it's just the second beta. Everything seems to be going nicely, but when I did a "sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude safe-upgrade" it showed there were tons of updates (about 90MB worth). I saw updates for Chrome, the kernel, xserver-xorg, etc. I understand this is just a beta operating system and is not recommended to be used as a primary OS, but I'm just so excited and can't wait. If I stay with this install, and keep updating, would I eventually make my way to the final release? Or would you recommend doing a reinstall with the final image?

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I upgrade to the current beta releases (natty) the boot process hangs mostly because of nvidia desktop graphics problems. Luckily the system is still running and remote login to console prompt works too. Is there really no reliable way to reset the graphics (and the rest) to minimum configuration. I am really tired of having to try all the repair options to get the desktop running again. How can Linux ever become a reliable solution if everything takes hours to fix and not even the boot process stays the same from one version to the next.

If I CTRL+ALT+F1 and reboot using the command line, it restarts showing mythbuntu on shutdown. Im have nVidia GEForce 8600 - is this due the X crashing? I tried all these - no change

4 x 500 gb hard drives in (software / onboard controller) Raid 10 (1 +0) with Windows 7 x64 as the primary OS
1 500 gb hard drive with Ubuntu 10.10 installed
After upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04 Beta, I hit the Grub Error. I have removed the 5th HDD but still getting it on boot into Windows 7. I am currently in the process of copying all files from my raid via a 10.10 flash drive boot (fortunately was able to mount my raid's partitions).
I would like to install PostgreSQL 8.5 from this link [URL], but it complains that it needs rpm-4.6.0 as dependency. It seems that CentOS does not support rpm with version bigger than 4.2.2, or am I wrong?

If I have 10.04 beta 1, could I just continue to update and not have to burn another disk to install? Or do I have to burn the beta 2 and reinstall if I want it?
I upgraded Karmic Koala to Lucid Lynx, Alpha 2. Now I want to upgrade to Alpha 3, and eventually to BetaX. When I enter the command updata-manager -d, the system says that I am up-to-date. Is there a direct way to upgrade to the latest Alpha, or do I need to download the .iso, build a CD, and do an install from that?

I decided to give Fedora a try and wiped my Ubuntu partition and installed Fedora. Everythings all good...except the reconfiguration of grub has left out my Windows 7 partition (nothing out of the norm) I tried manually adding windows 7 to /boot/grub/menu.lst but it's not working, when I try to boot into Windows 7 i get a little flashing "_" for a really long time and nothing happens.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have purchased HP Pavilion e9280jp/CT which has two 1.5TB (SATA 7200rpm) hard drives. But during installation Fedora 11 and 12 (beta) did not detect my second hard drive. It only showed one hard drive in the list. I used the Fedora Live CD and still it only showed one hard disk.
Then , I partitions my first hard disk as follows:
[1TB - Windows (Primary) ][ 100Gb - Linux partion ][ Factory recovery Image] and installed Fedora 12 , and now giving me Grub errors. How can I force Fedora installer to detect my second hard disk?
- Off a vanilla F11 livecd install, I stuck a 3 at the end of my grub line to boot into runlevel 3. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember (since Fedora 3). However now it seems to break and gives me a GRUB error. I press e to edit, and delete the 3. BUt it still throws and error?!?!?!?! Has this facility (ie sticking a number at the end of the grub line) been changed and why is my grub line now broken even though I've gone back and deleted the 3?
- If I install Fedora 12 beta now, will yum take me all the way into production when it goes live (assuming no killer bugs encountered), I'm guessing thats a yes?
