OpenSUSE :: Latex Beamer Pstricks Package Will Not Compile Properly

May 6, 2010

I'm experiencing the following problem with latex. A tex file using using the beamer documentclass and the pstricks package will not compile properly. To be more precise, latex-ing results in a dvi file but the pspictures are missing. When using pdflatex I'm repeatedly prompted with a?. Replying with enter all the time gives a pdf file without the pictures again. I'm running 11.2 with KDE and the normal preinstalled texlive. Version 2008-13-15.1-x86_64 from the Update repo that is. A minimal example where this happens would be:

Debian :: Installing Kernel Sources - Make Command To Build Package Fails

Jul 22, 2010

I'm trying to build the package zaptel on debian, but I'm encountering two errors:
1- When I try to run the "make menuselect" command, I get an error stating that I need ncurses which is missing. I tried to get it installed but didn't get to do it yet.
2- After that, there's the command "make" I think it's to build the package. Yet again this fails, and the error I get is "you do not appear to have the sources for the 2.6.26-2-686 kernel installed".

Fedora :: Sign A Package When Installing With Yum?

Aug 16, 2010

When I use YUM to install ICAClient it ends with the following message "Package ICAClient-11.100-1.i386.rpm is not signed" (see the code below). However, when using browser (Nautilus) to start installation of the same ICAClient-11.100-1.i386.rpm it completes with success (see the image below).

This happens when installing with YUM from the CLI:

Code:
[root@nc6000 boris]# yum install /mnt/temp/DAT/software/linux/INSTALL/ICA/ICAClient-11.100-1.i386.rpm
Loaded plugins: downloadonly, fastestmirror, presto, refresh-packagekit, remove-with-leaves, security, show-leaves, verify
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile

[Code]....

I prefer using CLI when installing packages. Which options can be use to sign a package during installation with YUM?

Fedora X86/64bit :: Installing The Xen Runtime Environment Package Or The Xen Emulator For KVM?

Feb 28, 2009

I recently gave the boot to Windows and installed Fedora 10. Under Windows, I was using VirtualBox for all of my virtualized computing needs. I had set up a virtual network with two virtual machines - one running Windows Server 2K3 and the other running Windows 2000 Pro. I could run both VMs at the same time and still use the host OS. Now I am trying a similar setup under Fedora, I am using VirtualBox to run Server 2K3 and Windows XP. The problem I encounter is that when I run one VM, one of my CPU cores rockets to 100% usage and the other hovers around 40% - 60% usage. Is there a way to enhance performance so I can run both VMs at the same time? Third, what would be the effects of me installing the Xen runtime environment package or the Xen emulator for KVM?

System specs:

OS: Fedora 10 x86-64
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Toledo)
RAM: 2GB PC3200
GPU: GeForce 7600 GT XXX

Fedora :: 14 Base Install Is Installing Extra Package Groups?

Dec 1, 2010

When I'm running, I like to just do a base install to start, so that, I can go from there, only added things that I need. I just did a Base install of Fedora 14 x86_64, selecting only the "Base" package, and "vim-enhanced". But, when running a grouplist, it comes back with this...

Code:

[root@fcdesktop01 ~]# yum grouplist
Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
Adding en_US to language list
Setting up Group Process

[code]...

I don't see why these extra groups are included, when all I asked for was Base and vim?

Fedora :: Terminal Command For Installing Packages Zypper / OpenSuSE?

Jun 24, 2011

I'm considering making a switch from Ubuntu/Linux Mint to Fedora 15 because I just adore, love, cannot be without Gnome Shell any longer. SELinux - I actually am finding I hate this program as it blocks certain plugins (like Java), some programs I run it blocks functionality, etc. What's the best way to disable it or make it more like Ubuntu where it's pretty much permissive of everything. Common Apps I use - I haven't checked the repos, but at the least I use the following (some I know work, but I can't remember the specific ones I want to know if I need to compile or if it's in the repos)

a - Snes9x
b - PCSX Reloaded
c - KeepNote
d - libdvdcss2 and libdvdread4
e - MP4, MP3, AVI, MPEG, OGG, OGV codecs (I think I've converted any others like WMA and WMV... wait I have a few WMA files, crap)
f - Flash 64-bit - this one I have issues with SELinux wise, (reason for first question)
g - VirtualBox - it runs so much faster under Fedora so I know this one works
h - Sun Java

RPMs - Fedora uses RPMs right? Is there like an DEB Alien to convert DEBs to RPMs? Apache2 - Now maybe I found this as httpd or lightppd or something, but why isn't it listed as Apache2 in the repos? I'm more or less guessing that Fedora is not a "rolling" release, is there a variant or version that is or a repo I can enable? A software center, other than Synaptic; I'm pampered when it comes to Ubuntu Software Center and that, is there anything like that in Fedora that isn't Synaptic? What's the terminal command for installing packages, is it zypper or is that OpenSuSE?

Fedora :: Installing Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge From An Old Iso File?

Feb 10, 2010

I recently decided to try installing Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge from an old iso file I had floating around my hard drive. I first mounted the iso and copied the files from it into a folder. I then used Wine to install. Everything went according to plan until I went to run the game. When I tried running Red Alert 2 (original) an error message popped up: Error - Unable to set the video mode. When I tried running Yuri's Revenge the same thing happened with one small exception, the first couple of times I tried the Yuri's Revenge splash screen popped up before showing the error message. However the splash screen no longer pops up.

Debian :: APT Always Installing The Same Package?

Feb 23, 2010

I'm experiencing a strange behavior from apt on my Debian 4 etch installation.

Sometime ago I installed XMailServer on it, and so far so good, it is working quite fine and no issue at all here. However since this installation apt got crazy and now each time I install something else it goes and installs xmail again. This creates the issue that everytime I add or remove a package xmail gets unconfigured and I've to delete spool and recreate the domains.

Sort of:

apt-get install somePackage ....regular messages if something else is needed to be downloaded... then installs xmailserver again for no reason at all giving a whole load of "file already exists" errors while rewrite xmail's config.

Already tried apt-get clean, apt-get autoclean, purge/remove -> reinstall sequence, delete the .deb package from apt's cache. But still no luck, apt insists into reinstall it everytime I want to install anything else.

Any place I can edit to make apt stop doing this?
