I have been asked to provide a document in Microsoft word format. Is there a lightweight MS word editor to produce Microsoft word documents please? I don't want to install the whole Open Office thing just to produce one document.
View 6 RepliesI have just installed a Canon Pixma iP2200 on Fedora 14. The installation 'seemed' to go OK but whenever I try to print anything I get the following error:
"There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-document-format-not-supported'."
I have done a bit of searching and the only advice i could find is to uncomment some lines in /etc/cups/mime.convs and /etc/cups/mime.types but I don't have either of those files!
I am trying to have GNU assembler produce object file COFF format? I did not find relevant information from GNU assembler's manual.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA neighbor of mine just got a Canon Pixma MP450 printer, to replace an old HP printer, and I am trying to get it to work with Fedora 11 installation from a machine they have borrowed from me. The printer gets recognized upon plugging it in but when I try to print a test page from the printer properties I receive the following error:'client-error-document-format-not-supported'
The driver that is selected for the printer is "Generic Driver" I have tried to select a driver but have not found any Canon drivers from the selection dialog box. After searching the web I see mention of a Canon MP150 driver working for the MP450 but I have not found this driver. Is there a driver I have to install from YUM or download from Canon? Are there others successfully using this printer and if so what have they done to get it to work?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI picked up a Barnes and Nobles nook (ereader) for my fianc'e and have some ebooks in multiple formats HTML, RTF, PDF, TXT, DOCX, DOC and a couple random other formats. But the problem here is that it only reads PDF files. I need a way to convert these files to PDF but also to edit the PDF text. For instance there are a couple of LIT files I converted to PDF in Windows that have a header and footer that I cant seem to find out how to remove.

I noticed that files that were written in MS Word 2003 change when opened in Open Office 3.2.1 This usually involves tables, lists, and image placement, as well as page margins and boundaries. It sometimes makes it annoying when reading files saved in MS Word .doc format that other people send me. Does anyone know if there is an extension to fix this? Or settings that can be changed? Also, was this addressed in version 3.3.0 of OpenOffice? Has anyone tried it on LibreOffice? I don't want to install VirtualBox, Windows, and Office to read Word files properly. I dislike MS.

I am pretty new to bash scripting...I am trying to write a script that will take an input and read it word for word and then DO something with it like echo. I have been able to find how to read word for word from a file but I don't know how to do it with input.

Problem description
In formsweb.cfg file are two lines with labels archive_jini= and archive= at the beginning of line. After equal sign (=) is row of filenames of java archives delimited by coma(,). When I insert a new jar file in java directory, I have to append the very same name of jar file to both lines if that name is not yet present.

I have no expertise with this kind of problem. The keyboard used to work on Ubuntu 9.04. I am not positive, but I think it was working on Fedora Gnome 13. It does not work on F-14 LXDE spin, and F-15 LXDE spin. I don't remember either the last time I have disassembled the notebook (damaged connector?)
How do I troubleshoot the problem?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi just had to switch from 10 to 11 until 12 comes out, and after setting up asterisk, i noticed VERY VERY BAD sound quality, mostly comprised of severe jittering. I noticed that the way Fedora lets you work with your sound devices in 11 is way different (nicer, but obviously not complete) than ever before, and i am using the same asterisk configs as before, so i'm positive that this is NOT an asterisk issue, and does NOT really belong in this forum; however, only asterisk users will be able to replicate or identify with this issue.
Have any of you 11 users had this happen to you, and if so, did you figure out how to solve it? I'm sure that i can *try* adjusting asterisks jitter buffer settings, but like i said, it was NEVER an issue before 11... Another clue would be that i cannot get crap like gtk-recordmydesktop to produce sound (but that may very well be another issue; however i doubt it)...

Have tried the default configuration for sound, the Pulseaudio and the PulseAudioSoundServer.Installed and use KDE interface. Sound works for SKYPE (after selecting HDAIntel) and the Firefox 3.5 Beta 4.
