View 3 RepliesI've got a font issue on my system: The normal arial is missing from my system and all software substitutes it with arial-black. It's a system wide problem:Firefox, konqueror and chrome all render Arial texts as Arial-blackOpenOffice and GIMP only display "arial black" in font selection, not arialInkscape displays bot arial and "arial black", but they're the same font.I tried reinstalling liberation-sans-fonts package and even rebooted, but the problem remains. I checked my fontconfig configuration, but nothing seems to be wrong.I believe the problem first occured after I uninstalled VirtualBox (proprietary edition). But I'm not sure.

Want to search for ~ and delete it as well as to append the entire line to the above line. For Ex:
1111xxxx date Sandy area is ~around this area.3222xxx date There seems to ~left side of map, the colours are accurate (showing green areas)Even if I ~zoom in, the green parks, xxx3258 date The dammed up
~away, the "other" body of water varies ~blackNatural gas leaching.
IT MUST LOOK LIKE:
1111xxxx date Sandy area is around this area. 3222xxx date There seems to left side of map, the colours are accurate (showing green areas)Even if I zoom in, the green parks, xxx3258 date The dammed up away, the "other" body of water varies blackNatural gas leaching.
I am pretty new to bash scripting...I am trying to write a script that will take an input and read it word for word and then DO something with it like echo. I have been able to find how to read word for word from a file but I don't know how to do it with input.
I was looking for something like
Code:
exit 0 The input would be A-Z a-z 0-9 and have a single space between each word.
I have to modify formsweb.cfg file in Oracle IAS.
Problem description
In formsweb.cfg file are two lines with labels archive_jini= and archive= at the beginning of line. After equal sign (=) is row of filenames of java archives delimited by coma(,). When I insert a new jar file in java directory, I have to append the very same name of jar file to both lines if that name is not yet present.
Example snippet from formsweb.cfg
I loose partial keyboard use after login. At first, I login, and can type about 1 word or so, then typing stops. I can use Ctl + Alt + Del to shutdown, restart or whatever. My volume and play stop, pause keys work when listening to music, but I have no pull downs. I can't use the Applications, Places, or System pull downs at all after the typing stops. However, I can still double-click things on the desktop, and I can also launch some launchers on the top system bar. I can browse the internet but no typing.
I once logged in, and did no typing for a couple hours. I just let it sit. Everything seemed normal until I started typing. Then it stopped typing, and no more pulldown menus. Another interesting fact is, I leave my computer on most of the time. I went away for 4 days and shut down my computer while I was gone. It was working fine when I shut it down, but then 4 days later when I boot back up, this crap starts. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell Precision 670. The keyboard is wireless, but I have recently changed the batteries.
In linux is there a way to find the next word of a particular word of a file. grep displays entire line of the particular word. But i want only the exact next word of that particular word.is there any command for that.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI don't often use a full word processor, but the Mrs has started to do some freelancing and needs one. I told her that that OO was every bit as good as Microsoft Word.... In OO virtually NONE of the menu options have hotkey combos.. Are they always user defined? F'rinstance, no hotkey for word count, or even option to put a button on toolbar? She is threatening to start booting to Windows!!!

I built the indexes, but when I search I get this: Top-Level Documentation Application Manuals
openSUSE Documentation (en)
Htdig error: Unable to read word database file '/home/philip/.kde4/share/apps/khelpcenter/index//opensuse-manuals_en.words.db'
[code]...
the UNIX manual pages work, the Application Manuals show nothing, and the openSUSE Documentation shows the same error. This is the same no matter what I search for.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I make the less utility in Linux not wrap lines?
Long version: Often I need to view huge CSV files using less with hundreds of columns. I frequently only care about the first couple columns. However, word wrap causes one line to become several lines even on wide-screen monitors.
Abiword is splitting words at the end of sentences. If I go to the end of the line and nudge the word, it will wrap but I get an extra space. I can usually delete the space. Sometime, the word will wrap correctly if I continue typing but this is not the typical case.
I know this is not a problem with OpenOffice but I don't want to install 70MB of program just to get a simple word processor.
it does not permit me use Times New Roman font! It says down the dialogue box Font on MS Word that it is not, like, installed, and that it will use the most likely one. It's not good, because the texts (all of them) get italicized when I open some on it. It was working fine before. I use Wine on Lucid Lynx, very updated.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have no need for word wrap for most of what I use JOE for. The man page and the HOWTO don't answer this question, so I'm wondering if it might be a bug. I'm running Joe 3.7.in the joerc file does not work correctly. It works (built-in?) for .c files, and I can make it work for .pl files. But files with no extension? Forget it.Without having to resort to the menu each time to turn it off, is there another way to disable word wrap?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI need a bash script that can read a file, say example.txt search for the string "This is my example string" and save whatever word/number comes immediately after it to a variable, var.
Example:
blah blah
blah This is my example string extracthere is a very nice word.
blah blah
There are two constraints:1. This needs to assume as little as possible about the nature of the known string "This is my example string" and the word that follows it. I am trying to keep my code adaptable.2. Speed is valuable. This shell will be executed dozens if not hundreds of times so speed is very desirable. I thought I read that some commands are faster than others.
I am trying to get a word from a line using sed. Following is the line which I want to use.
inet addr:10.245.86.15 Bcast:10.245.87.255 Mask:255.255.254.0 inet6 addr: fe80::1031:3dff:fe01:55e1/64 Scope:Link
From the above line, I need the ip address like 10.245.86.15 only.
