I've got an Atheros AR5212/AR5213 chipset on an Airlink 101 AWLH4130 card.

Aug 6, 2010No matter what I try I just cant get cron working for me on my Squeeze setup I can type /usr/bin/soffice and openoffice will fire up no problem but put into a crontab and nothing for instance just to test if crontab is working I have this/5 * * * * /usr/bin/sofficeIn y user crontab but nothing happens I have run as root crontab -u djt crontab And after editing the crontab with crontab -e it says it is installing crontab but it just does nothing Unfortunately I am connected to my works network so unable to receive internal mail from cron so cant find any reason for it not working

Debian :: NIC Stops Working Every Now And Then?
Jul 18, 2011I use my debian machine for masquerading, packet filtering anilar for a tiny network.It runs the latest debian testing.Every now and then (i am talking about weeks) the connection to my internet stops working.ifdown eth0; ifup eth0 brings it back.The other interface (eth1) is never effected.The odd thing is, there are no warnings, no messages .. nothing.I cant find any entry. Nothing in the logs, nothing in dmsg and no kernel panic.The only way to find out when it might have been happened is to search in several daemons log files,to find out when their first error connecting to the internet occurred.I ran memtest without any results.The nic is e1000 compatible.

Debian Hardware :: CPU Fan Isn't Working?
Apr 3, 2010I have an Acer Aspire 7720Z, and running Debian Squeeze/Sid. My problem is the cpu fan is not working, and I don't have a clue how to solve the problem. When the CPU temperature becomes too high, the laptop stops, so it's very annoying. I can't compile anything, or run an "heavy" software.
The fan is working, just after the boot before grub menu or under Windows Vista there is no problem so that is not a hardware problem.

May 30, 2010In order to save power and to cool down my Debian system a little bit, I installed cpufregs the other day and changed it the cpu gonever to on_demand.
Well I came back to the box today and powertop tells me that the cpu has been running at 2.66ghz (max freq) for 99/99% of the time.

Jun 27, 2015I have a ts3.desktop file in my /usr/share/applications folder that I want to run on system boot. I have typed the following commands which don't work

Then in the editor, I typed the following line at the bottom of file. I also made the necessary carriage return after this line.

Then I pressed ctrl+o to save it.
After I put these commands in, I did the following command to troubleshooting this issue, see below.

But after I reboot and nothing happens, the application doesn't start.
Debian :: AdBlock Plus Not Working With Iceweasel
Jul 7, 2015I have Inceweasel 31.8.0 installed on LXDE Debian Wheezy and I am trying to make AdBlock Plus work. The thing is that I get pop-ups from any site, Youtube ad videos, etc. all the time, just like I have nothing installed to prevent that.
I tried:
- Installing AdBlock from Iceweasel add-ons, with a suscription to easylist ;
- installing xul-ext-adblock-plus (also with the same suscription).
With each configuration or even with none of them, I get the same results as described above. Is there anything I can do ?
By the way, I don't get Youtube ad videos on Chromium with Adblock installed through the Chrome webstore.

Mar 11, 2010After installing 3.5.6 from backports, applets stopped working. I installed the java-6-sun package but it's still not making it. Searched google but haven't found anything but some bug fixes. Also saw something about ipv6, but not sure if that's related. That seemed to affect java programs. I use jedit and that is working fine. I downloaded the latest SDK from Sun and created a link from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins and /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins to /opt/SDK/jdk/jre/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so. Prior to the update to 3.5.6, the plugins were working and I could get the ..... stuff etc.

Oct 31, 2015I'm a huge keyboard shortcut fan. I can't stand mice. So this is a big one for me.
My Alt+F10 (maximize) and Alt+F9 (minimize) keyboard shortcuts work just fine. I read everywhere (i.e., [URL]) that the Alt+F5 combo should unmaximize a maximized window. But it's not working. Can't find anything that says Debian excludes that combo.
Is this to be expected or is something amiss? I think its meant to be a default shortcut, so don't want to start playing around with customizations prematurely.
Searched through the forum, couldn't find anything under the following search terms: Alt F5; Alt+F5: Alt +F5: Alt-F5: maximize: unmaximize. Did I miss the magic string?

I can not use wifi due to b43-firmware. I use usb tethering as my only solution. Now I connected to my phone but do jot have internet access in laptop. ping http://www.google.com or 8.8.8.8 or any other address says destination host unreachable,

Debian :: KDE Not Working After Dist-upgrade
Jan 30, 2016After running a dist-upgrade (from stable to testing) KDE stopped working, all I get (after login in with lightdm) are the modals you can see in the attachments [1]. I do not think it is an X issue, because I can login using lightdm (and MATE is working fine).
I suspect this is because I had KDE installed before running the upgrade. The things I tried so far are:
- Runing "apt-get remove kdelibs-bin kdelibs5-data" . Then "apt-get autoremove". I did it to remove every KDE related package, after that, I ran "aptitude purge '~c' " to clean all config files. And finally "apt-get install kde-standard" to get KDE again.
- Removed .cache, .config and .kde folders. Also removed .lock files in .config folder, as I saw somewhere.
- Looked for some log files, but I could not find anything (I don't even know where to look really )
This is almost a fresh debian install so I don't mind breaking things, but I would like to get KDE working.

Feb 18, 2016Two years ago I setup a small ARM based home server running Debian 7, the system ran an automated sftp backup from my phone, a transmission server and a VPN (open vpn).So anyway I upgraded my home PC and also upgraded the ARM home server to a GB-BXBT-1900 as I wanted to run some VM's.My only issue is that I have been unable to get transmission working the way i want it... For example I run my OS from a USB3 32GB sandisk drive, I then have a 500GB 2.5 laptop hard drive to store my VM's and transmission files, the VM's run perfectly fine when directed to read and write to the sata drive but no matter what I do I am unable to change the default transmission download directory.The moment i do this the download will start, hit around 4MB then pause.Amended chmod and chown on the directory ie /mnt/500/Downloads, also usermod -a -G debian-transmission myuser but nothing I do seems to work, if i leave it all to its default directorys on the USB drive it works but i just cant get this to work on the mounted drive.
