mencoder The.Negotiator.mkv -of rawaudio -oac mp3lame -ovc copy -o sound-mencoder.mp3

If I convert an audio file to a different format (such as mp3) using a pipe I lose the tags.
Code:
ffmpeg -i <filename> -f wav - | lame - output.mp3
If I knew the tags of the input file I could put them back using a program such as id3v2

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have installed debian on my dell latitude d630 laptop and am currently making a derivative for others to use. however I can't get the wireless to work. I downloaded it from the broadcom site but it comes as a gzip file instead of a deb file. if I extract the gzip file I don't get any installable (deb) files. I need the wireless to work because now a bridged network from my windows laptop isn't working.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've installed Ubuntu 10.04 and it works like a charm, pretty much all over. However I seem to have problems using my M-Audio Fast Track Pro with all four channels - primarily when using Mixxx. I hate to switch between Win7 and Ubuntu just for the use of my VCI-100. Is there a way to have Fast Track Pro work? I tried almost any of the solutions found around here - but i simply cannot get it to work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor about three months I've been going up and down the internet looking for a solution to this problem... Basically I take this distance learning course. Every lesson is sent to me via email in PDF format and it includes many audio examples which are embedded in the file. The problem is none of the Ubuntu readers seem to recognize it, and the Adobe reader says I need a plug-in which does not exist for my system. I quote: "We're sorry, but the third-party media player required to play the selected media file in your Adobe PDF document isn't available for your system". I've been taking this course for two years and I still have two more to go. I contacted the company that sells this course and they were as puzzled as I am... Is there a way to extract the audio from the PDF? Or alternatively open it with another application? I would hate to have to go back to windows for this one issue...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently on vacation, and noted that the kdenlive version on my laptop (running 64-bit openSUSE-11.3 with KDE-4.4.4) will crash when loading a kdenlive file that has an audio track previously saved.
ie one can no longer reload a project, after saving it, if one has an audio track in the project.
I note my desktop (just before I went on vacation) did not have this behaviour. Has anyone else encountered this?
When I get back from vacation, I'll compare the packages between the two (ie between laptop and desktop). I note these packages on my laptop, which may or may not be relevant.
Code:
kde4-kdenlive-0.7.7.1-1.pm.2.1.x86_64

I'm using Sound Juicer 2.31.6 to turn CD Audio into digital format for my portable digital audio player.I put in the CD into my disc drive, load up Sound Juicer. I find the track listings on Music Brainz, after having MusicBrainz search FreeDB. But how do I import the track titles into SoundJuicer? I tried "Re-read disc" after entering the name and album exactly as it appears in MusicBrainz, but that doesn't help. It still says "Could not find Unknown Title by Unknown Artist".

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've decided to start backing up my dvd collection. I want to extract all of the audio, video, and subtitle streams individually (from the main movie title only). Then for convenience and usability I want to put them all in a .mkv container. How can I do this and with which programs? ffmpeg, vlc, mplayer? If I can do this all at once, that's fine. But I don't want to get the streams out of sync.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have two video files (Xvid) and would like to combine the video from one of these with the audio track of the other, in order to create a new video file.
This is somewhat complicated by the fact that I would like the resulting audio to be a mixture of the two original audio tracks, for instance, during some time segments, I would like to switch from one to the other, but the video should always be the same.
Another issue that complicates the things is that the two audio tracks have different bit rates, and when I briefly managed to merge the two, one of the audio tracks was playing much faster than the other. To clarify, the audio tracks should not overlap but just be played at the different time during the video playback.
I am trying to do this by using Audacity. The problem is that I am fairly new to Audacity and I have not been able to find any info in their user guides regarding this specific issue.
I use ubuntu 9.04 and up until this week I could burn CDs using Brasero disc burner without incident. I have partially fixed the problem. I can now use brasero to burn data discs that have wave files for the songs, but when I try to make a audio disc I get this: "Track 1.wav" could not be handled by Gstreamer. I use synaptic and installed some more libs, but to no avail. Should I just install everything in Synaptic for Gstreamer?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen ever I extract a file from a .tar or whatever, it isn't detected. I notice this mainly when i'm using xampp. I copy zip up all my files on one computer, load ubuntu on another, extract the files to the web folder (htdocs) and then I get nothing. However, when I manually create the files directly on my computer as opposed to extracting them, they appear.
Is there something I need to do in order to have these files appear? Is there some sort of file system refresh? Or am I being a complete idiot?
I am running an Ubuntu(10.04) box and I am attempting to understand an error in a program.I don't have access to the source of this program, but I know it isn't working properly because it cannot find a particular file. I was wondering if it would be possible to monitor what file are accessed(more specifically denied access) by a process. My first idea was to breakpoint on fopen, but I didn't have any success.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to track the number of requests that a file gets downloaded and viewed.
What I have is mp4 files on the server and they could either get played in flash player or downloaded via mobile or whatever.
I need to see how many times that files gets downloaded or viewed. Since its in a php page I am able to track the number of views. But I want to able to track the direct downloads.
I was thinking something along the lines of htaccess redirect to php then to file.
But that would mess up the player from playing the file I would think. I am not sure how to make that happen with the htaccess either though.

I changed the case of one letter ('N' to 'n') in a track name using Rhythmbox and the result is a file which is 7727 bytes smaller than the original (I saved a copy of the original file before editing the track name). The file is in ogg/vorbis format (160 Kb/s). I changed the track name back and the file size didn't change. However, the contents of the file are still drastically different (vastly more changed than merely the letter in the track name).I'm worried that Rhythmbox is doing something dreadful like decoding the file, changing the track name, and then completely re-encoding the file from scratch (meaning it runs the decoded audio through the lossy encoder to regenerate the file). Does anyone know whether or not Rhythmbox is doing this when the user edits the meta data (like the track name, artist, etc.)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using windows operating system for a long time now, but I am not well familiar with linux. Whenever I used to install Windows, I used to install the corresponding audio drivers(in order to listen to the music). The problem I am facing is that I do not know how to install the audio drivers(if they really exist in linux Mint 10 operating system). As a result I am not able to listen to any audio file due to lack of corresponding audio driver programs. make proper configurations settings so that I can listen to audio files in Linux Mint version 10.
