I am using Ambiance Theme Can I move those options somewhere else on the top and get back the application logo at its place(which kind of looks smart and helps me differentiate between the applications in open windows faster) I haven't checked it in KDE but I am using Gnome(default with Ubuntu 10.04). And as far as I remember, when I was using KDE with Fedora 11(a month ago), I used to get the logo

Oct 17, 2010I figured out long ago how to change the background image and theme in GDM. It's not that difficult. But I have been suffering forever over how to change the image that is in the login box, directly above my name. I want it to show an Ubuntu or Gnome logo, but right now it just shows a blue box. I can't figure out how to do it, and because I want to learn how this stuff works,I don't want to use a third-party tool such as ubuntu tweaks.

May 7, 2011I downloaded Firefox and Thunderbird from the mozilla site and unpacked them and added the executables to the main menu. When I start either of them, the respective logo jumps up and down below the cursor for more than 10 seconds after the program has finished loading. Is there an easy fix to this small but annoying issue? I run Squeeze with KDE on a Thinkpad R61.

Nov 19, 2014Naturally a Windows user, because all of my computers were with pre-installed Windows and I was young.. and I get used to it..In the time of.. growing up I became programmer and learnt how bad is actually Windows coded. Not only that.. Linux has better support for developers.So.. I was Windows user till yesterday. I finally decided to work on Installing Linux or more specifically - Debian.I love everything part of the GNU - GIMP, GTK+, Gedit, GCC...
Well I can't use my PC, both of my operation systems are non-functional.Windows get stuck (which is something completely typical for Microsoft stuff) on Windows logo screen, or safe mode loading files..Debian installation is messy.Firstly I installed Debian 6.0 on a Virtual DVD Disc mounted. I followed the installation process strictly and move forward to Debian startup.It asked me for account. root as "username" and the password as "password" didn't work so I logged in as "localhost" normal user.
However.. I started to realize that I actually also had to install the Graphical Environment in order to have Debian with the desired GNOME Desktop.. I went to aptitude to install the Graphic Environment Package but it said that I have no root rights.. I tried to log-in again, using the correct details but failed.I tried to get in, using the sudo command, but the sudo command also didn't work. Of course.. since I can't install packages, I can't either install sudo."su -" or "su" also prompt me to select a password which I apparently have no clue of.
Then I went to Debian Recovery, because there I was logged as root. It also pointed out that "Root Account is locked". I went to install packages finally.. But when the installation started to proceed It asked me for disk insertion in a specific folder?There I got lost completely.

Jul 24, 2011I installed 64 bit Fedora 15 today on my desktop pc after briefly trying it a while back on my netbook. Although I'm much more comfortable with its modern look and function than I have been with other Linuxes I've tried since 2008 I'm a bit stumped with a couple of things.
1. I've followed two guides for installing flashplayer and I still don't have flash video in Firefox. Can I safely remove flash-related packages and start again? I use Mobile Broadband with a 3gb/month limit and don't want ot have to reinstall Fedora and the Updates again if I get in a mess.
2. I'm familiar with logging into Nautilus as root - in Ubuntu - to alter the Clearlooks theme a little bit. I take the blue off the scrollbar for example, and add a bit of space round the menu items entries (the blue highlighted area). Although many Fedora 15 programs are using Adwaita, Abiword for example is still using Clearlooks, yet my changes aren't visible - the scrollbar's still blue. What's missing here? I installed beesu and opened /usr/share/themes/Clearlooks...etc using it and I've checked to make sure my alterations are present.
3. Where is a safe site providing libdvdcss2 for Fedora?
4. Is it possible to get the Fedora logo next to Activities in the top right area? I thought I'd seen a custom theme for this and I like the idea of not all Gnome 3 distros being generic and identical.

3D accel seems to work ok, as I can use some KDE4 features and glxgears to test.
But from passing from Lenny (kde3.5) to Squeezy I lost the Nvidia logo which loaded just before X Server.
I tried setting under the device code...

During boot I see a penguin in the upper left top of my screen. This logo takes up about 10 lines of my screen and I don't want it.
I do want to keep my 132x50 lines mode tough, but no penguin.
How do I do that? I mean, SOMEHOW the penguin most have gotten there, where first normal text was displayed.
