Debian Hardware :: Pulseaudio Incorrectly Recognizes Bluetooth Headset As Mono
Sep 10, 2014
Having trouble with pulseaudio (0.9.21, Debian Squeeze) failing to properly recognize a Turtle Beach X-ray headset?
My tv connects fine, playing Dolby Digital through it without issue, but my computer doesn't. (A possible side effect: Flash videos play in slow-mo when the headset is connected to the computer's bluetooth adapter, but not when the headset is disconnected.)
Is there a way to tell Pulseaudio to give the headset 6 channels?
Some info:
Code: Select all~ » pulseaudio --dump-modules
module-alsa-card ALSA Card
module-alsa-sink ALSA Sink
module-alsa-source ALSA Source
module-always-sink Always keeps at least one sink loaded even if it's a null one
module-augment-properties Arugment the property sets of streams with additional static information
module-bluetooth-device Bluetooth audio sink and source
[Code] ....

I am using Debian sid(xfce). I have a bluetooth dongle and a bluetooth headset. The headset supports only the HFP and HSP profiles.
I think I have installed all the necessary packages but I have problems connecting to it. Pairing works, but connecting via a profile doesn't.
The dongle works great for transferring files to other devices.
When I tell blueman to connect to either profile of the headset it connects for maybe one second and then immediately disconnects with the error:
Failed to connect: org.bluez.Error.Failed

New install of Mint LMDE (Debian Testing)
I installed Blueman & paired my headset successfully but I get this error message when I connect my headset, "Failed to initialize pulseaudio bluetooth module. Bluetooth audio over pulseaudio will not work". When I go to Pulse Audio Volume Control, it's not showing in my hardware list.

I've been using a Freetalk USB Headset for a while on my Sony Vaio. It worked fine. Did a bit of travelling and used a different USB headset. Returned home, plugged in the Freetalk headset and find that Pulseaudio only sees the microphone part and not the speaker part. Using PAV Volume Control Configuration, against the Freetalk headset I only get the profile options of "Analog Mono Input" or "Off". When I first set it up, ages ago, I remember getting a load of options here and set the one for input and output. How to I get more options to set up the headset properly?

short version: My bluetooth headset keeps disconnecting.Full version:I'm using a 64-bit distro of 9.10 on a 1.6 GHz AMD Turion 64 laptop, with an external bluetooth dongle and a bluetooth headset. The dongle is recognized right off, the headset pairs perfectly through the bluetooth preferences panel, and sound redirects through the soundpreferences panel... For about 2 minutes. I know, it's odd, but every 2 minutes or so bluetooth disconnects from the headset. Sound shifts to the speakers, the applications don't miss a beat, and when I reconnect the headset through the bluetooth control it shifts right back to the headset. This happens regardless of other programs running. I tried it with no other applications running, and with a fairly heavy load, and it reoccurs.Here's the odd part: I had the CPU set on "Ondemand," to save battery power, but when I plugged in and shifted it to "Performance," it started happening ever 4 minutes or so...I've Googled around and found plenty about getting my headset to connect, but nothing about KEEPING it connected

So I picked up a really cheap BT USB dongle (~$2) and can use the mic just fine but audio won't work. code...
I figure that I'm just overlooking something (I checked all the volume sliders and "mute" checkboxes I could find) or that I need to get a better BT dongle. Any thoughts?

I am on Fedora 12.I have a USB bluetooth dongle and a bluetooth headset.The dongle gets recognised fine and I can pair the headset as well. PulseAudio sees the input and output of the headnet perfectly. It also runs perfectly for about one minute, and then the headset is disconnected. Why?During the sixty seconds where everything works, I also hear a beep (about every 20 seconds).After disconnecting I have to put the headset back into pairing mode and then remake the connection. And then everything works for another minute, and then the headset is disconnected again. Why

I have a bluetooth headset that I hope I can get to work with Ubuntu 10.10 so that I can use it with Skype.I am using these instructions to get it to work. However, there are some differences between my experience and what I expect from the instructions, ultimately leading to some errors.First, I should mention that according to Blueman device manager, it would seem I have successfully paired my device. It has a MAC address. I have attached a screen shot of the interface:It sure looks like the device is recognized by my system. However, when I get to step 5, the MAC address of the one device I see is not the same as the one in the interface above:
Code:
$ hcitool scan
Scanning ...

I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-PV700 bluetooth headset that came packaged with a Sony Ericsson K510i phone.I was hoping to be able to use it under Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat as a headset and POSSIBLY as a microphone...I don't think it supports a2dp, so maybe this is a waste of effort. The Bluetooth adapter I'm using is Bluetooth 2.0 compilant, as far as I know. (It may be 1.2, but there's no way it's 1.1 compilant).
I have paired it with my PC and tried finding it as output and input in the Sound Preferences...no option. There's nothing in [System > Preferences > Multimedia Systems Selector] either! I have also tried the instructions at the Ubuntu Community Help Pages for Bluetooth Headset. However, my system fails to initialise the module-alsa-sink and module-alsa-source via the pactl command .I don't even know if it is possible with this device, but I'm willing to give anything a try! P.S. I'm not comfortable with installing a ton of packages just for one thing, but if there's no other option it's fine, I guess.

I have compiled Bluez 4.50 for arm and have installed it. The bluetoothd daemon is running fine. But when I enabled the blueoothd -nd & i get an error saying, Failed to access HAL. After a bit of digging, i tried installing hal on the board in vain. The hcitool scan runs fine and shows all the devices in the vicinity. I compiled agent.c from the test folder and am using it to pair in command line because i donot have python on the board. I see the packets getting txd and rxd in the hcidump when i try to pair with the headset. even the light in the headset changes after pairing. but i donot hear any sound when i play a *.wav file.

I'm running Slackware with 2.6.26 kernel. I've got bluez-utils,libs version 3.26 (Slackware 12.1 precompiled package), and kdebluetooth. I'm using a Digicom Palladio Usb Bluetooth adapter. In general, bluetooth seems to work; I can send files to my Nokia phone. Now, I've got this Bluetooth stereo headset (brand rather unknown, and I've thrown the package away, I've only got the little user manual, and there is no indication on who built this thing).
This is what I've tried so far:
- turn the headset on and turned pairing mode on;
- kbluetooth -> Configuration -> Input devices (input?) -> Search;
- kbluetooth finds the headset and asks that I insert the pin code; a little star appears next to the name of the headset ("Stereo Headset"), but after a couple of seconds disappears and at the same time I hear a beep coming from the headset (disconnection?). Anyway, just before the beep, noise came from the headset (as if it had turned on), then, after the beep, nothing.
- Important thing: the headset manual says the Usb dongle must support A2DP and AVRCP. I don't know how to find out whether my dongle supports them, anyway, if I execute 'sdptool', in the "Services" section I get: [Code} ....
Does this mean that bluez/my usb dongle doesn't support A2DP? Anyway, I followed the instructions on "Bluez - Trac - AudioDevices" [URL] and added the specified part to .asoundrc. Of cource, even if I tell xine to use "bluetooth" as pcm device, it says the device is unknown.

I recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone.When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?

I would like to know if anyone has run more than one version of mono concurrently. I want to host a Battlefield 2 server with bf2ccd that requires mono 1.1.12. CentOS 5.3 repos provide mono 1.2.4 which is neither new enough nor old enough to support bf2ccd. I have considered compiling a newer version or an older version to accommodate this but I think that the only fully supported version is the 1.1.12 and I want to have the newer mono for other projects. I have used Slackware exclusively up to now and am not familiar with CentOS yet so I would like to avoid compiling if I can. The server is an unmanaged dedicated server so I'm not certain of all of the details. AFAIK it is a standard CentOS 5.3 install.

So, I have compiled a C# program on Linux using MonoDevelop. When I try to execute the resulting binary, my system tries and fails to run it as a windows executable, with wine. Wine gives me the following message:
$ ~/bin/MyMonoApp
wine: Install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET executables
~/bin/MyMonoApp: command not found
I can only convince it to run by explicitly calling mono:
$ mono ~/bin/MyMonoApp
So, how can I make this the default, so I don't have to explicitly call mono every time?

I have just installed a Virtual Machine with Debian. My goal is to set up a LAMP server to work with. I have installed Apache, PHP and MySQL, everything without any problems and following WIKIs.
Now, I have a problem, because I'm trying to work with folder within my /var/www folder. If I use the address http://192.168.1.103 in my Host computer's browser, I can see the "It works!" from Apache without a problem.
Now, if I try to see: http://192.168.1.103/test/ I can't see the index.html that is within the folder test that is on the path: /var/www/test Why is this? What do I need to do and keep this simple?

I've had nothing but trouble with Pulseaudio in Fedora 14. I had managed to get rid of it in Fedora 10 with the command: su -c "yum remove alsa-plugins-pulseaudio pulseaudio" I just don't want to have to deal with Pulseaudio anymore. It does not like my sound card and gets in the way. Is there a Linux distribution that does not use Pulseaudio ?

I just installed Debian stable from the standard i386 DVD. When I booted up, I noticed that GRUB showed me that I had the amd64 version of Debian installed. However, I did not download an amd64 DVD, nor do I want that architecture installed on my system (even though my system can support it). The output from "uname -a" (which included both "amd64" and "x86_64") also seem to confirm this. However, I was able to install 32 bit packages and get them to work (gdebi wouldn't even let me do this when I had Ubuntu 32-bit).

Setting up a randomly passworded swap partition in Debian installer with the default settings (aes-xts-plain64 w/ AES-256 key strength) gives the following line in /etc/crypttab:
Code: Select all####_crypt /dev/#### /dev/urandom cipher=aes-xts-plain64,size=256,swap
However according to cryptsetup manpage when using XTS mode the key size must be doubled so in effect the 'size=256' parameter above is actually resulting in AES-128 strength, no? To get 256 bit key length the size option should be set to 512. Quote from cryptsetup manpage:
For XTS mode (a possible future default), use "aes-xts-plain" or better "aes-xts-plain64" as cipher specification and optionally set a key size of 512 bits with the -s option. Key size for XTS mode is twice that for other modes for the same security level.

I believe a windows7 addition to a multiboot system has buggered up the time displayed on two other debian installations on the same computer, a X86_64 and an AMD64 respectively. I'm running unstable on the two Debian installations but #dpkg-reconfigure tzdata can't fix the problem. At the moment the local time is displayed as 15:59 when in fact it is 19:59 and UTC is displaying the correct local time. (19:59) when it should be 23:59 I'm sure this is related to something win7 did, because I only noticed it after the additionalinstallation. I just don't know how to change things back like they were.

I'm using KeePass 2.10 (with mono) and I am able to copy a password from KeePass (Ctrl+C) and paste into ALL applications except for the GNOME Terminal. When I copy something, I am not able to paste into the terminal, and find the Paste menu item in the edit menu disabled. However, if I paste into another application and cut from there, I can paste into the terminal.
(if it is a bug) which project I should report a bug to (gnome or KeePass?).
