Things work ONLY if i DON'T input some numbers after the s: but my actual passkey has numbers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedInstalled openSUSE 11.3 over an existing 'very stable' 11.2 installation and started experiencing wireless connectivity issues immediately. Network Manager would show connected 100% - 92% but I would lose connectivity to mail, browser and messenger(s). This disconnect would last less than 30 secs but would occur every 2 to 4 minutes.

BTW Channel 3 is the channel my wifi is broadcasting on. I've tried other channels and other computers and it is only openSUSE 11.3 having an issue. I am also using WPA2. Modifying the Global Options in Network Settings from User Controlled with NetworkManager to Traditional Method with ifup seemed to stabilize most of the issues, but I do notice occasional drops. I've also switched from Network Manager to wicd to provide some UI while dealing with this issue. Since iwl3945 drivers are now in the kernel I don't know if I should try to revert to an older driver or if there is another issue.
My laptop receives all the wireless networks but when I am trying to connect to some protected connection (with right password) it just doesn't connect. How to fix that?I using OpenSuse 11.3 gnome 32bit. Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Min-Card.

I've beenhaving some trouble getting my wireless network card working on my Slackware 12 box. Currently it identifies the card and can scan for networks, but I can't seem to join a network. Here's some output:

It doesn't seem to be accepting the essid setting, and it's giving an error for the key setting. Also, I'm noticing an inconsistency in the wireless protocols. The AP claims that it's 802.11g with rates up to 54 Mb/s. But it should be 802.11n. It's an Apple Airport Extreme and the Radio Mode is set to Automatic and displays "802.11a/n-02.11b/g/n" on the Airport Utility. The interface also claims that it's 802.11g, though shows a rate of 300 Mb/s. It's a Belkin "Play" Wireless USB Adapter (F7D4101).
(Note: I'm using ndiswrapper and the WinXP drivers which were installed from the Belkin software.)
I still cannot access to internet. May I know why?
Is it due to the Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A)
The step i did:
1) iwlist eth1 scanning
2) sudo iwconfig eth1 essid shabana key s:xxxxxx
3) invoke firefox ... cannot surf
Do I need to set dhclient? how should I set? DO I need to enable wpa_supplicant?

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04, everything is fine, but the wireless. When I try to connect to my WPA2 protected network, it is grayed out. SO I click Connect to Hidden Wireless Network, and this window pops up. I put in my network name, the security type, and password. It acts like it is connecting, the wireless icon is going up and down. But then another window pops up, saying Authentication required by wireless network and the down arrow is grayed out. I use network-manager-gnome to connect to my wireless networks, but I can only use it with a graphical environment, and it doesn't even work that well since it will drop the connection after a few minutes and I have to reconnect it manually, that means I cannot leave my computer downloading a big file all night since it will only download for a few minutes, does anyone know what package can I use to connect to my wireless without the need of network-manager, even if it's through command line?

I guess that driver is not getting loaded since modprobe is giving an error which I mentioned earlier. What could be reason? Did driver crashed? Since this issue cropped up only after I rebooted the machine.
I upgraded from lenny to squeeze on a notebook and I can no longer connect to the wireless network. The computer is an LG notebook and the network card is ralink rt2860. I am using Gnome and NetworkManager. The wireless key is WEP hex. It was working fine with lenny till before the upgrade. After the upgrade, the network card stopped working. So, I checked

Then I reinstalled the driver with apt-get install firmware-ralink wireless-tools Then the network manager tray started working again and saw the network, but cannot connect. It was trying to connect but timed out and kept asking for the password. It is the correct password. I tried deleting the old connection and recreated a new one in the nm. But still does not work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Linux Mint 9 as a dual boot install with Win XP. Trying to activate wireless network card driver and video driver. Pops up: "You are not authorized to perform this action".How do I get authorized?
Now every time I boot Win XP, the Internet Explorer menu bar is all blacked out and goofy. If I log out and back in it corrects itself. If I reboot it's blacked out again. Re-installed IE8. Still blacks out.Also Firefox in Win XP crashes expectantly. It has NEVER crashed on me previously.
I installed squeeze on my eeepc 1015ped and downloaded the correct firmware-brcm80211 drivers but every time I scan for my network using iwconfig wlan0 scan or wicd, my computer completely freezes. I previously had a solid install running xmonad, and wicd was working like a charm (using the same broadcom driver) but i tinkered too much with it and decided to do a fresh install. I haven't quite run into a problem like this before.

I have an Atheros AR928X Wireless Adapter (built in to laptop). I can connect to net works with nm-applet fine, but when I use iwconfig, There are no changes. Example:

On Opensuse 11.2, I would like to connect my ipod touch to a wireless ad-hoc network of my laptop. I have no wireless WIFI-router at home, so I have to use the laptop as a router to the internet. I know I have to enter a static IP adres and my router's address, but where ? I haven't found any place under network tools to do this, only saw some fields with SSID's and MAC addresses to fill in.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.

I updated the firmware for my driver but apparantly the driver is still not working. Broadcom has a driver from their website for Linux 32 bit systems. Should I attempt to install it? I read a post where the driver is built into the system kernel. If so I would need to blacklist the one of the drivers. Correct?

View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter installing 11.4, I need to type in the command to update the firmware for a broadcom wifi adapter. Then I needed to reboot, twice, before the system knew to use the adapter (where the adapter wifi light goes from orange to blue).
Then I needed to add my wireless network and type in my key. But the key does not take. If I click on my wireless network icon, it just re-asks for the key and does not connect nor give any other message. Network icon continues to display no connection.
So I need to reboot again.
When the system starts again, the adapter is blue, I click on the icon for my wifi network and it connects without asking for my key and I can then set to start my wifi by default.
Now my wifi works fine.
I just installed Slackware 13.1 on my Asus 1215T, and I've been trying to get it to connect to my wireless network in my home. When I type iwconfig I get no wireless extensions, and ifconfig returns only lo, no wlan0. I read the Slackbook wiki and tried to configure the inet1.conf and wireless.conf but still no luck...
View 12 Replies View RelatedAll settings are correct as far as i can tell. The wep key works on all my windows boxes. When i have connect automatically enabled it never tries to connect. if I go to edit it it pops kde wallet up i put in credentials. wallet goes away then nothing happens. if i double click connection to my router also nothing happens. I have the wep key in there and i even made it visible to make sure.
