All of a sudden I couldn't watch movies on Hulu anymore, so I have just upgraded Debian from the Etch to Lenny, because I wanted to update to the newest version of Adobe flash. In Iceweasel under add-ons, it says that I have the newest (10.0 r42) version. The old one (9.0 r124) is still listed. It is listed as disabled, white version 10 is listed as enabled. I still can't watch movies on Hulu.

I Have 2 Monitors and generally use the 2nd to watch movies, music videos, things like that on Windows 7 and wanted to do that on Ubuntu too. But it won't let me drag anything on the 2nd monitor as it holds the cursor on the 1st monitor when dragging programs/windows/anything. Using Xinerama(on Xserver) give strange thing when 2nd monitor is totally black, can't see any menus and can only do anything by keyboard shortcut

Right now I have the net book set up so I can watch movies from my Ubuntu desk top (using XBMC) on my home network. What I would like to do is when I am on the road with my netbook, be able to watch my shows and movies on my PC at home. I am not sure if there is a VNC client that would work on both systems or not.

The intent is to use Mplayer without X or any other window manager/GUI to watch movies on TV. A simple 'mplayer movie.avi' command works fine, except that it locks out the keyboard and mouse. We're using the latest mplayer and slack 13.0 with the 2.6.29.6 kernel. Using mplayer under X presents no problems, but the use of anything but the console is NOT possible now. The whole problem is figuring out what to do to regain control of the keyboard.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some strange behavior with Flash content on FF4 on Hulu. I am using the latest Flashplayer (10.2.153.1). On the hulu landing page, parts of the flash overlay disappear (or turn dark) and re-appear randomly. I tried taking screenshots of that happening, but the captured images do not contain any artifacts!
This does not happen on Chromium (12.0.722), and I could not verify this on Opera11 because Hulu would not load on it. Specs: Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64, Compiz, Firefox 4.0, Flash 10.2.153.1 on Intel C2D w/Intel 4-series graphics.
As far as I can tell, I have all the applicable applications and plugins (for this, Debian 5.0.6 installation). I type in Code:about:plugins in either iceweasel or epiphany browser and get a list that includes:

I'm getting a strange error when I try to use Hulu desktop. When I start it, the following error pops up:

Cannot get FlASH install correctly so I can view shows on HULU. In the past I could but recently HULU request that I install FlASH. When I click on the link provided and run the install, the install appears to download but I still cannont view shows on HULU.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing Slack 13.37 on one of my systems while using my own (non-standard) kernel it refused to boot as the harddisk couldn't be found anymore. Investigation yielded that the ahci.ko driver wasn't loaded (but libahci.ko was). However I listed both ahci.ko and libahci.ko in the mkinitrd -m parameter so there had to be an error in the new /sbin/mkinitrd script. It turned out that a grep at the end of the script weeded out my ahci.ko module as the searchterm "ahci.ko" was already detected in the modprobe line for libahci.ko.
I decided to fix it in an easy way : I just prepend a "space" in front of the module name at the line where the grep is called :

it seems i have to update to a new flash version? i cannot watch any videos any more. i installed the flash-aid add-on in firefox. under "removal options" i see nothing until i select "expert mode". i have attached a screenshot. what do i need to select there and what are the next steps? i just upgraded to firefox 4.0, on kubuntu10.10.

I'm learning a foreign language. There are several online sites that have Flash video in the language I'm learning (e.g., Hulu), which is great. Unfortunately, they have English subtitles, which is (depending on who you ask) somewhere between "annoying" and "actively harmful to my learning".When I'm watching them in a window, I can just move them near the bottom of the screen, or put another window over them. That's awkward, but it kind of works.But I'd like to watch them full-screen, on my TV set.
