Debian Configuration :: Connection WPA Personal Says Connected To Wl Network But No Internet Connection

Apr 15, 2011

1 linksys router: gets the net from PPPOE and give the network DHCP. The router IP is 192.168.1.1. 1 windows laptop that work wireless and wired. 1 debian desktop that work wired and not working wireless. THe problem with the debian desktop is like this: I have a TP-Link TL-WN321G installed and found by lsusb command. I make a wireless connection WPA Personal (just like the router settings) it says i am connected to the wl network but no internet connection. the route command give me this:

[code]....

I tryed with wicd who said that the connection is WEP (and it's not, it is setup to WPA on the router and the network-manager conncetion) and when i try to connect i get bad password. I tryed with network-manager uninstalled and no chance.

Ubuntu Networking :: (fluxbuntu) Network Remains Connected; Internet Connection Sometimes Not Available?

Apr 10, 2010

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 with fluxbox installed. Occasionally my internet connection will stop working, but when I check on wifi radar, I'm still connected to the network. The router is not plugged into a computer at the moment, just the cable jack. It is likely a hardware problem however, since my other laptops also experience disconnects. Any help beyond "change the cable" would be greatly appreciated. For instance, even though I am connected to the network, I cannot post at the moment due to lack of internet connection.

Debian Configuration :: No Internet Connection After Reboot

Feb 20, 2016

I rebooted my vServer (Debian 8) and it doesn't came back up. Well, I used the rescue console on my server and the server seems to be running fine, except the network was broken. So I tried 'ifconfig' but nothing came up. So I tried to enable my interface with 'ifconfig venet0 up', and now it appears in my ifconfig list

Code: Select allroot@i67svof:/var/www# ifconfig
venet0    Link encap:UNSPEC  HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00

          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:36463 (35.6 KiB)  TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)

My HWaddr doesn't look that well :) 'ip addr' prints this result:

Code: Select allroot@i67svof:/var/www# ip addr
1: lo: <LOOPBACK> mtu 65536 qdisc noop state DOWN
    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
2: venet0: <BROADCAST,POINTOPOINT,NOARP,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN

These are the last lines in /var/log/syslog:

Code: Select allroot@i67svof:/var/www# tail /var/log/syslog

And finally my network config in /etc/network/interfaces

Debian Configuration :: New Internet Connection Have No Public IPV4

In one of my customers, the new internet connection have no public IPV4(using GCNAT), only public IPV6.

And there are various services that require external access, like, vpn (openvpn), a java/web system, ssh, rdp(windows).

fileServer(by vpn).

All is running ok in IPV4.Maybe, the solution is a NAT 6to4. We know this is the future, no more public IPV4.

Debian Configuration :: Unable To Connect To Internet Connection

Apr 15, 2011

I am using Empathy IM client to access to gadu gadu and to message with my friends. The strange thing that is happening is that I keep on being connected and then disconnected and then connected again even if I am continuously connected to my internet connection (no problem when surfing or using skype for example)It also seems to come only from me because when my girlfriend is using the same gadu gadu on her windows laptop simultaneously, she doesn´t get disconnected (whether when she is at home and using the same connection as I am or when she is outside, meaning that it doesn´t seem to come from the whole gadu gadu network)maybe it has something to do with the ports that gadu gadu is using but it is strange that sometimes it is working for a period of time and then not and then again.

Debian :: No Internet Connection / Network

Sep 26, 2010

I am working on a cross-platform application for Linux ,Apple and Windows, so I have a full tower system with four SATA hard drives that be selected with a switch, so that I can change drives and operating systems at will. -sort of makes me a jack of linux systems, but master of none. It's important to mention this, because it shows the strangeness of the problem as it is isolated to Debian* systems.

So where does debian/ubuntu get it's information to establish a network connection? How do I rectify the problem? I can hardly blame the hardware (RTL8111B), because the problem is isolated to Debian systems.

Debian Configuration :: Unstable Internet Connection Squeeze - Realtek Adapter

Jul 14, 2011

I'm going to start using Debian as my desktop system rather than Ubuntu since I'm not really liking all the crazy eye candy and just wanted a fast and simple system. My main problem is networking, I guess I'll start off with my system specs and other information for problem solving.

My specs are:

- Intel Core i7 2600K CPU
- Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P-B3 Motherboard
- 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM

I have a Realtek RTL8111/8168B Ethernet Adapter builtin to my motherboad which I am using, I could only get a basic connection, by basic I mean that it allowed me to connect to my local area network but not the internet. I then modified /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf to change to managed=true this allowed me to use the internet, but the problem is, that it is a very unstable connection, the speed is very slow and it drops a lot! I have to carry on running /etc/init.d/network-manager restart twice to get my connection back, which lasts for about a minute.

output of lspci | grep -i eth

Debian Configuration :: Network Connection Has Been Disconnected

Jul 5, 2011

How to enable wifi? I downloaded and installed Debian 6.00 and as I couldn't get online with my Tenda USB Wireless Adapter. I downloaded Debian 6.00 again, this time the CD Net Install version with Firmware included. However, the added firmware version of Debian does not find my wireless either. My wireless adopter is shown as Bus 001 Device 003: ID 148f:3072 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT3072 Wireless Adapter. There is a Network Icon in the Panel which when clicked shows "Create New Wireless Network". I have put in my ISP related network and my password and rebooted, but all I get is the message on my desktop:

"The Network Connection has been disconnected."

That isn't very polite, is it? Who has disconnected it and why remains a mystery to everyone except the culprit(s). I think I must have missed a basic step in the Wifi Enabling process. I checked the Use Permissions and everything is fine there, as User I have permissions to use modems and do networking and so forth. Also I should like to try "modprobe" but I see the package isn't in Synaptic Package Manager.

Debian Configuration :: WiFi Connection Which Then Is Sent To A Wired Connection

Sep 22, 2015

The situation: The office has a WiFi network on one DSL line, which is used for our VoIP call center, and a wired network for our internal network and the majority of web surfing/traffic . Part of the office must be temperature controlled/monitored - we have a rather nice digital thermometer which is WiFi enabled.I have a Debian Wheezy box with a WiFi card and ethernet connection

What I'm trying to accomplish:Connect wifi enabled thermometer to WiFi network so it can automatically send temp updates (currently I have to do it manually via USB)Have the Wheezy box accept the downloaded file then send it to a back up server in the wired network

Side things that may be useful : Prefer to use wired connection for internet and apt and suchWiFi connection will really just be used for connecting to the thermometer

This [URL] .... topic got me thinking that there might be a way to bring the two networks together, but I don't know if that will wreak havoc on things. I know, the Windows and Mac OS don't like having ethernet and wifi at the same time, might Linux be better for this?

v&n had this to offer in the prior thread [URL] .... which I'll be doing more research on.

Ubuntu :: Shared Internet Connection 10.04 - Cannot Get The XBox Connected

Jul 11, 2010

I just got a new XBox 360, and I would like to get it connected to the internet.

I cannot run hardline Ethernet to it, as the nearest line is across the house.

I have, in the past and on friends machines, had success setting up a shared internet connection from my Ubuntu box to the XBox in question. I would always follow this guide, and it would work right away. [url]

Recently, I have purchased a new wifi router. This has changed the DHCP makeup of my home network from 192.xxx.xxx.x numbers to 10.0.0.x. I dont know why, but thats how the Netgear router set things up. I have reserved addresses 10.0.0.(2-4) for specific computers because of remote access needs, anything above 10.0.0.5 is empty.

Following the guide that I linked above, I cannot get the XBox connected.

I believe that the fact that the rest of the network is listed under 10.x.x.x may be the culprit, as the DCHP server on MY computer would be assigning the same Local IP as the other devices on the network. (I.E. Giving the XBox 10.0.0.2 and my computer 10.0.0.2)

To clarify how my network is connected; this is how the network is setup:

Internet/Phone line ---> Verizon Westell DSL modem in 'bridged mode' (IP 192.168.x.x) ----> Netgear WGR614v10 Wireless (IP 10.0.0.1) ----> Computer connected via wifi (10.0.0.x) ====> Shared connection to XBox (IP ? supposedly 10.0.0.x)

Somewhere between the computer and the shared connection, The xBox is getting lost, and cannot connect. The troubleshooting shows that it could connect to the network, but it cannot access the internet as a whole.

Ubuntu Networking :: Internet Connection: 'Work Offline' - "No Network Connection"

Oct 31, 2010

I have the "Work Offline" problem: when I boot up, the icon on the toolbar tells me I have "No network connection". This is not quite true, since I can access the first page of any website - only subsequent pages are inaccessible. I get a message saying that Firefox is offline. However, when I uncheck "Work Offline" in the File menu, it makes no difference to this behavior.

The problem is on my Ubuntu Dell desktop, which is connected to the internet with cable broadband via a D-Link router (wired connection). It has worked fine up till now. I use Ubuntu 10.04 and Firefox 3.6.11. I am writing this on my Ubuntu Dell laptop which is wired to the same router, so I assume the problem is not the router. I have tried various strategies suggested in threads on these forums, including editing about:config, changing "allow" to "deny" in some lines of /etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf and changing from Automatic (DHCP) to Automatic (DHCP) Addresses only, but no luck so far. The contents of ifconfig are:

eth0
Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 001:aa0:91:a7:51
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets: 0 errors: 0 dropped: 0 overruns: 0 carrier: 0
collisons: 0 txqueulen: 1000
RX bytes: 0 (0.0 B) TX bytes: 0 (0.0 B)
[Code]...

If I comment out "auto eth0" as well, it makes no difference. If I uncomment both lines ("auto eth0" and "iface eth0 inet dhcp") then I lose the internet connection altogether.

But when I access firefox, there is no internet connection. I checked the Preferences, Advanced, Network tab, Connection and the Settings button. It is set to "No Proxy". This is the same setting as our library laptop - also wireless - in firefox but using vista. If this has been addressed elsewhere, I apologize. Ubuntu Servers :: DHCP Connection Sharing - Connected To The Internet Via Wireless?

Dec 29, 2010

I did search, but could not find a solution.Right I've installed Ubuntu Server 10.10 on an old machine, installed fine and the system is running. I have a windows 7 desktop that is connected to the internet via wireless. The desktop then has an ethernet connection which is shared to the ubuntu server. The network looks like this.

Modem > Router > Desktop > Switch > Ubuntu Server My problem here is that there appears to be no connection from the server to the desktop. The server cannot connect to the internet.

When i ifconfig the ubuntu machine shows.eth0 link encap:Ethernetinet address: 192.168.137.2 Bcast:192.168.137.255 Mask 255.255.255.0 However on the windows desktop (the machine sharing the internet) these are the details for the connection to ubuntu server.ip 169.254.170.50 mask 255.255.255.0

is this a dhcp problem? is my server configured wrong?
