I am running a VPS of CentOS. clock command doesn't work.[174-37-247-102.lx-vs.net ~]# clock hwclock is unable to get I/O port access: the iopl(3) call failed. How to solve the problem? I have tried "timeconfig" and set to New York and System Clock uses UTC and restart the server but it was not useful.
View 2 RepliesI'm new to CentOS and the forum. I installed Cent tonight, added the RPMForge repo and installed GParted. Every time I try to launch the app, it fails with the message "The exec() call failed." I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple of times with no success. Has anyone seen this problem?
i am not able to port 8080 on my CentOS VPS server.I have followed all the instuctions as mentioned on iptables wiki page.Also I am able to telnet my ip address and port number, But can not access from browser.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo this is my first post so I'll put it in "Newbie".I seem to have successfully configged my httpd.conf file to listen on port 8008. I restarted httpd ok. However, when I go to port 8008 in a web browser from another computer on the internal network by going to 192.168.2.5:8008, it doesn't connect. When listening on port 80, I can browse to the IP address fine. is this a server-side or client-side issue? Using Fedora 12. Thanks in advance and tell me what forum this would best fit in.

Iam using snmp to access the remote system data.But according to the requirement iam encoding the snmp request data to OAMPDU packet format and sending to remote system.the remote system receives the OAMPDU packet,decodes it and is sending the snmp packet to snmp agent through UDP socket which is bind to port 161.but iam unable to receive the response from snmp agent.i have created a udp socket which is bind to 161 port to receive the response.
if i use any other free port number other than 161 for receiving snmp agent is not sending the response to that port.can any one please suggest me how to overcome this problem.Can we configure the different ports for tx,rx ?How do we know on which port does snmp sends the response ???

Since the upgrade from CentOS5.4 to CentOS5.5, it seems the sshd is crashing every other day.I can access to the VMWare webserver, but no way to connect through ssh port 22.The only "workaround" is a hard reboot of the server, and with luck, I can access to the server through ssh.I checked /var/log/secure, it looks like time to time when the server start, it does not start the sshd service, there is no entry at all for the time the server started up. For instance today, the server has been started early this morning, but the first entry was found after a hard reboot this evening : Jun 3 18:19:14 hercules sshd[3617]: Server listening on 0.0.0.0 port 22.

I have 2 server behind the netgear router on my network . win2k3 and CentOS development server, I have port forarded 80 to win2k3 server which i can access over the internet and is accessable. However I can SSH CentOS machine and portforwarded 8080 and 82 for web access, I can't access via any of the port, browsers says UNABLE TO CONNECT.. there is no firewall in CentOS machine.

I'm trying to connect with my server via telnet, but when i sent the command (telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Port) doesn't works and shows then follow error: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused, It happens with any port. Is strange but my telnet services works (telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), In addition, i tried with firewall enabled and disabled and the problem still happens. My centOS run on virtualbox.

"call to lnusertemp failed"
I've cleared out the /tmp files, set my tmp files to be deleted on reboot, tried creating a new user, renamed .kde4 to .kde4~old....no luck.
I think that the best solution is to completely remove KDE and then re-install it. How do I do that? Alternatively, if anyone has a better solution, I'll try that.
I'm trying to set rxtxSerial to work so a Java app has access to a serial port (via SiLabs CP210x driver, port /dev/ttyUSB0). When I use update-alternatives --config java, there are 3 alternatives which provide `java'. I have tried openJDK and Sun. Both fail but with completely different messages.

I set up freenx server and set up a client on same machine and now when I go to my logs it crashs and bugzilla save before it can crash. I go to send info and the page says bugzilla wont work and gives a 999 code need newer gnome??

I am able to access the webmail using the same certificate which I installed in firefox. But I would like to know how to use this certificate to sign in to the VPN. Some of my colleagues use the Cisco VPN client v5.0.? software and the vpn client certificate to login. It works fine. But I would like to do the same with Centos.I tried connecting using vpnc. I converted the pcf file to conf using pcf2conf. Converted the certificate to .pem file. I replaced the /etc/vpnc/default.conf file with the pcf2conf converted file. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not that great with mailservers, and just been thrown a curveball with a MS Exchange environment for which there is apparently no solution... yeah, right. But is there a workaround?
The problem is that the site mail (SMTP) needs to be sent via port 26 instead of the commonly used 25. Port 25 is mapped to a mailfilter, which apparently causes havoc with some of the mail, and the techs that have been on site trying to coax the Exchange server to co-operate have said that the only way would be to get rid of the filter.
The problem is that there are number of apps that are unable to have the outgoing port changed and so keep sending mail out on port 25.
I look after the Unix/Linux side of things at work, and I was wondering if there was an easy way to set up a Ubuntu box to receive mail on port 25 and just forward it to the MS box on port 26? So, in other words (and I hope this makes sense): monitor port 25, and forward whatever comes in on port 25 to the server on port 26. Simple portforwarding, or is it? What steps do I need to take?
I've installed centos 5 on an old computer with success and it works great.I can access the web server hosted on the centos server from any computer on the wireless and wired local network. I can also use ssh (putty) and nx client from any computer on the local network (wired and wireless) to access the centos server.On the wireless router I've configured a port forwarding to the wireless network interface on the centos server. I can access the centos server from the outside (internet) through this port forwarding both through http and ssh or nx client.MY problem is that I can't access the centos server from the internet through the wired network interface. Any attempt to view a web page or login with ssh or the nx client will timeout.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have a server were we no longer seem to be able to gain access, neither locally or remotely.When we try to connect via SSH we get a "Connection Refused". We have checked that it's not our standard firewall blocking the request, so it can either be the local firewall (which we disabled when installing) or that the process isn't running.However, when we try to login locally on the machine (as root) all we get is "Login failed". We've tried restarting the machine in single user mode to change the root password, and while we can do this succesfully, it still doesn't give us access when rebooting the machine afterwards.No other users (besides the standard users created when installing) are available on the server, so we can't say if this is a problem with the root account, or with logging on in general.
