I hoped to use php-5.2 while keeping close the the centos packages (no external repositories).So I tried the packages from http://dev.centos.org/centos/5/testing/i386/RPMS/ .These packages seem to be compiled without mime-magic support (--without-mime-magic).The previous stable php-5.1.6 packages had this mime-magic support enabled.

I have Centos 5. I enabled the EL repos so I could upgrade the php to the latest, and now there are upgrades that yum is not letting me get. I have a Virtualmin VPN plugin that needs Virtualmin to be updated to 5.10, but it seems when I updated PHP with the EL repos Yum is now reducing my available packages. 1 Hardware issue for LAN driver ( Broadcomlink(TM)gigabit ethernet)
2 Display Driver not support and also missing Xorg.config file (i.e ., My Screen Starts from center of screen )
3. What is minimum configuration for centos 5.4 ?
I've got apache2, ver 2.2 running on openSuse 11.4 and just installed php5. My php web pages are still only displaying the text files and are not parsing or executing as expected. I've rebooted to clear any hidden gotchas.

From looking in the specified directory I can see that this file does not exist, however I am unable to simply create or copy a file with the required name to resolve this issue. Is this a known error, or is my install package simply missing the needed files; even though I managed to successfully install this package a few days earlier onto the same system.

I'd like to use PHP5.2x instead of PHP5.3x on my Ubuntu 10.04. There is a small bug in Drupal where tweaking Views causes an error which seems to be associated with php5.3.
So, how would I regress to using 5.2x on Ubuntu?

During the network card detection phase, it prompts to install missing firmware file rtl8168d-1.fw from removable media. I understand that this is a non-free blob removed from kernel v2.6.32.

I'm looking for something where users can sign in, and submit support tickets for a wide variety of issues (game play, billing, etc). created an extended partition and in there have made sda5 and sda6 as / and home for ubuntu and sda7 and sda8 as / and home for CentOS. and sda9 as swap. I installed ubuntu first and then installed CentOS with no bootloader. Run sudo update-grub through ubuntu and now i have both Ubuntu and CentOS available. But when i select CentOS, i have an error which reads "invalid magic number".
I have grub2 installed, haven't downgraded or done anything to it and the ubuntu install is fresh, one week since i updated to 10.04 from scratch. I have found much contradictory stuff on google, but not something that provides a definite solution and also this post but the second command provided in the solution is one i cannot understand very well and it doesn't seem to work. what I am doing wrong here and how to make this work. I would prefer to do things via Ubuntu since debian stuff is what i am comfortable with and i am installing CentOS to learn not to do work on it.
I have installed Audacious and audacious-plugins-freeworld-mp3 on F15. MP3 support now works (i.e.: mp3 files are being played) but audacious does not show me the scroll bar/widget with which I can move within a track. The horizontal line of said widget is being displayed but it's not showing the button which marks the offset within a track and clicking on the horizontal line has no effect.
