Feb 2, 2010I'm new to Ubuntu and installed Apache, Tomcat and PHP using separate packages. All work well but it seems that the default doc root for Apache and PHP are in different places as:The following command to start Apache: sudo /usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl start brings me to the "Test Page for Apache Install" and shows the Apache logo--successful--when I hit URl....Also, could someone please tell me how to stop PHP from starting Apache on boot?

"README" file to setup the software gives following instruction which I have attached with this thread.So, according to first step I copied the entire "dolibarr-2.6.1" folder in "/usr/local/apache2". But whenever I call the browser with address given in "README" file my browser gives the following error message : Code: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost.Please let me know how can I configure the Web Server so that I can use the software.

Jan 21, 2009I have a Apache web server and a separate tomcat 5 server. I can run the jsp-exaples just fine using HTTP. However using HTTPS fails. For some reason it appears HTTPS is not forwarding to the connector, I get 404 not found, returned.If I simply try https://apache_server_ip I successfully connect to the default Apache page.According to this page it should just work. Apache should do the ssl encryption/decryption and tomcat operate as normal.

Jan 20, 2011I am installing Big Brother on a CentOS 5.2 running the default Apache 2.2.3. When I try to access any web page I get the following error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /bb/ on this server. Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at fmsubbnix Port 80 So far I have:
1) Set the Directory options to FollowSymLinks
2) Verified all directory and file permissions are at 755
3) Set permissions temporarily to 777 and received same error so I am assuming the issue is in a config file somewhere
4) in hhtpd.conf verified <Files ~ "^.ht"> is correct
5) verified the "default" directory is correct (/var/www/html)
I have read and tried several ideas in posts listed on the web but to no avail and am at a loss as to what to look for next..

Oct 5, 2009I installed syslog-ng-3.0.3-1.rhel5.i386.rpm and at first blush it appears to be working fine to /var/log/messages. However it doesn't seem to be doing any other ancillary logging as defined in syslog-ng.conf (I've had to mod /etc/init.d/syslog-ng to look in /etc). e.g.

filter f_filter3 { facility(authpriv); };
log { source(s_sys); filter(f_filter3); destination(d_auth); };
I'm using a syslog-ng.conf which has served me well in the past (v1.6.9 on fedora).

Mar 22, 2010Recently my motherboard went out, I replaced it and booted centos 5. All went well except sound, video tuners and netoworking. The sound I re-configured, and have gotten tuners working but I am running into trouble with the new network card. The networking setup is;
DSL wireless router/modem IP 192.168.0.1 connected to XP computer through WIFI IP 192.168.0.3. all set to subnetmask 255.255.255.0 and with DNS servers 192.168.0.1 and 205.171.3.25 the XP computer is the only one that supports my wifi card. On wired LAN I share that connection to 4 devices. 3/4 work well, my cent os 5 box will not connect. here are the lan settings:
win xp: IP 192.168.0.60 255.255.255.0
mac 8.6: IP 192.168.0.34 255.255.255.0
blueray: IP 192.168.0.65 255.255.255.0

Jan 24, 2011i've got a select based application that wants to support a large number of mostly idle connections. the code is java and works on windows, suse enterprise linux, mac os x. it does not work on centos 5.5 (32-bit, 2.6.18 kernel, 1G of memory).
i've read and followed the directions in various articles about tuning linux for large numbers of connections (including the C10K problem), and gotten the number of sockets up to 3200.
these didn't make any apparent difference:

on windows, i can get up to around 78,000.
on suse enterprise linux (a few years ago), i got up to 90,000. that's where i got bored and stopped.
on my mac laptop with os x (snow leopard), i got up to 10,500.
i have used ulimit -n 10240
my current goal is 10k sockets.
the test is that i'm opening one socket at a time until it fails. when it fails, many of the sockets which have already been opened also fail, in one giant cascade. sounds like a buffer / memory problem.
each group of 64 sockets gets a thread to manage select calls for them. thus i'm only using around 61 threads total when it fails.

Jun 30, 2011I've installed CentOS 5.6 to my laptop, primarily to use some simulation programs. With much help of google I'm getting my hardware and software to work quite well, but I still have some troubles.My first problem is my Synaptics-Touchpad. It is extremely sensitive and I am not able to scroll. Is there any application which allows me to configure it properly? Before CentOS, I've tried openSUSE 11.4, where there was an application especially for configuring synaptics touchpad (dont't remember the name though). In general, the "feeling" of the touchpad was way much better under openSUSE, but I can't define that properly. I have a bluetooth mouse (Dicota Blue Light) conntected to my laptop, which is working fine except for the scroll wheel, which doesn't work at all. How can I activate it?

Nov 26, 2009I am using Centos 5.4 on an Intel DG451D Main Board. Two SATA drives in RAID1 mode via the main board's built in AHCI controller. It seems to work just fine but I would like to be able to monitor the state of my drives and controller, especially during a re-build and make configuration changes etc if possible, so new drives can be added etc from within the OS. Is there a way to do this within Centos or am I stuck with using just the BIOS configuration system? Apologies if this is a stupid question - I am pretty new to this and have spent several hours trying to find a solution to my question but to no avail.

Nov 10, 2010i have linux server application based on centos 5 that run httpd daemon from /usr/local/pf/conf/httpd.conf which is generated from the /usr/local/pf/conf/templates/httpd.conf.apache22 file
the problem is every time i run my linux server application i am not able to access phpmyadmin unless i stop my linux server application which is stop it httpd daemon then start "service httpd start"
i have been told by forum moderator to create an alias for my phpmyadmin in Virtual Host but it stil dont work, i am not able access my phpmyadmin site
this is what i have done to solve this problem
- open /usr/local/pf/conf/templates/httpd.conf.apache22 file then look for <VirtualHost *:%%admin_port%%>
- add Alias /phpmyadmin "/usr/share/phpmyadmin" (Failed)
- add Alias /phpmyadmin /usr/share/phpmyadmin (Failed)
- add Alias /phpmyadmin "/usr/share/phpmyadmin/" (Failed)

NB : my phpmyadmin is install on /usr/share/phpmyadmin with /etc/httpd/conf.d/phpmyadmin.conf as phpmyadmin configuration file

CentOS 5 :: Apache Not Working With New Centos 5 Installation?
Jul 5, 2009U have spent 4 days trying to configure my router thinking that it is my router that is not working but when I go to my dynamic dns or my static ip address it takes me to my admin router on the local computers.when I type httpd it says it cannot bind to port 0.0.0.0:80 i checked it is set up to listen to port 80 this is really confusing me i am beginning to think the people who built my server did not set it up properly if i go to localhost or 0.0.0.127 it goes to the apache default page fine.I have not changed anything since it wad installed except the centos 5 updates any ideas?When i login my password is root and the password is the default I have changed nothing else on the system as I still have no clue about it.Just to clarify on my router I have port 80 and port 443 set to my static ip address is this correct or should it be the eth0 Bcast ip address?Can anyone give me an idea of what i need to check? On my router I have set up port 80 and port 443 and dynamic dns and static ip address.Sorry I am totally new to linux never used it before would be nice if anyone has any ideas how i can proceed with this.

Jul 31, 2009On a new install of CentOS 5.3 I am trying to make the Logitech MX Revolution mouse work (I did actually succeed in configuring it by BTNX on my previous machine, but can't make btnx work now...). I am following the instructions from [url] works. However, when installing the xmacro package it complains about a missing library: libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.9)(64bit). The library is available in Fedora but not in CentOS. I guess installing the Fedora library is unwise...?
Does anyone know how to make xmacro work?
Also, in xorg.conf it seems (from other posts etc) using the evdev driver for the mouse would be advisable.
However, when I change from [driver "mouse"] to [driver "evdev"] X cannot start. In the xorg.conf logfile (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) it seems like the evdev driver is not compiled:
I don't really understand the error, but it seems to me, that the evdev driver is not compiled... The evdev driver should, though, be installed (through the package xorg-x11-drv-evdev-1.0.0.5-3.el5.x86_64)
If this is right, how, then do I compile the evdev driver?
