I have redhat-rpm-config installed, and the following is in my .rpmmacros:

We're planning on getting computers with built-in Agere et131x NICs, and were wondering if these would be automatically detected/installed upon installing CentOS 5.3 ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCan anyone recommend a pre-built Core i7 desktop on which CentOS 5 can be easily installed ? It will not be used for gaming. We are considering the Aspire M5811 and the Vostro 430, however I heard that there is an RHEL bug with the NIC on the latter.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe situation: computer based on Asus P6T motherboard. Two RAIDS:
- 'boot', on motherboard built-in RAID controller (CentOS 5.5 installed on this RAID)
- 'data' on 3dware RAID card
At one moment a CPU fan fails and the system halts. After the fan is replaced, BIOS informs it's reset and all the inner controller data are forgotten. After I switch it to 'RAID' mode, it remembers it was a mirror raid (RAID 1) installed, but the file system on it is completely trashed.
The 'data' RAID run by external controller isn't affected by the system failure. Three questions:
- is it worth trying to install OS on the rebuilt 'boot' RAID once again? Looks like if BIOS settings are lost for some reason, there's chance of completely losing RAID data
- has someone encountered similar problem with built-in RAID nd was it possible to recover data?
- will the software RAID be worth creating instead of using hardware RAID to replace the 'boot' drive?
I'm trying to setup a couple POP accounts in CentOS. I started doing a tutorial that had me install dovecot, and now I have dovecot running but I can't connect at all.Does anyone know of a simple way to get email up and running? It seems like it should be easier than the 14 step tutorials I was finding on Google. Also, should I leave dovecot or try and remove it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use two CentOS 5.5 boxes to serve up email. I wish to loadbalance HTTP, IMAP, POP3, and SMTP between the two servers. The servers are not in a cluster (the email software does not require it). What filesystem could be used to distribute/replicate the files between the two servers? I have tried NFS, GFS, and GlusterFS. All of which work but result in a latency that is unacceptable to the end users (webmail clients).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have postfix sort of working correctly. postfix can send email to the internet but it doesn't want to send email to my local exchange server. What I need is for postfix to send emails directed to @xyz.com to my exchange server instead of itself.
My setup
mail.xyz.com - exchange 2003 server
www.xyz.com - centos 5.3 server with postfix
www.xyz.com can send emails to my hotmail.com account so that part works correctly. www.xyz.com can't send email to username@xyz.com. postfix seems to be delivering the email to itself and not the exchange server.
How can I tell postfix to send the @xyz.com emails to my exchange server?
Here is a sample of my /var/log/maillog

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up an email server for a small office and need a few specific features. I was hoping that someone might give me a few recommendations to meet the following criteria:
IMAP support anti-spam some sort of webmail client - doesn't have to be fancy, but it needs a search function graphical administration panel The last one is so that other people in the office, who aren't necessarily familiar with linux, can do some basic administration. Adding mail boxes, etc.
I've seen the guide for Postfix/Dovecot. That's great but doesn't cover everything that I need. I've also seen Zimbra, which... Well I don't know, that may work, but the open source version has some features removed and that makes me leery. Have people had good experiences with open-source Zimbra? Is it sufficiently feature-complete?
Edit: Well, looks like I just needed to do a little more searching. This seems to cover most everything:[URL]... I'd still like to hear what people have to say about Zimbra though.
I've come across a strange issue where any email address that I email with mail returns an error "Bad Address"

Nothing in the maillog.

I have a user setup to receive email, which I would like automatically to be sent into a program that I'm writing. Should I be looking into procmail, or is there a shorter way in /etc/mail (for sendmail) to route all of a specific user's email into a program? I don't care whether the emails are ever written into /var/mail. CentOS 5.3, kernel 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5, sendmail 8.13.8

View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried the rescue mode of the install DVD. It doesn't have any package management initialized. What I want to do is have a LiveCD environment where I can install an RPM package into that live running system (not persistently ... but pretending so in RAM).
Ubuntu can do this. If I choose "Try Ubuntu" in the boot menu selection, I get a live system that has the DEB package manager ready to go. It can install more packages that depend on packages already installed.
I just want the same but having Fedora. If 16 GB of RAM is not enough, I can get more.
I am looking to setup some computers as thinclients to connect to my MS Terminal Servers. We have a homebrew application that configures RDP sessions. A user logs into a webpage that dynamically generates a "launch.rdp" file. This file is generated to balance the load between servers. What I'd like to do is configure an image to boot up into Mozilla. When the user goes to the webpage, I'd like the launch.rdp file to open up in a terminal server session.I've tried with rdesktop and tsclient, but unfortunately neither would work with a "rdp" file.
