CentOS 5 :: Debuginfo RPM Not Being Built?

Feb 4, 2011

I'm trying to rebuild a .src.rpm to produce a debuginfo rpm but one is not being built. The normal .rpm builds just fine.

I have redhat-rpm-config installed, and the following is in my .rpmmacros:

%_topdir /home/kerrg/buildroot
%_toppath /home/kerrg/buildroot/tmp
%_signature gpg

Software :: Cannot Find Debuginfo For G Libc-2.12-2.i686

Jul 16, 2010

Trying to use gdb to debug a C program, I got the message (from gdb) of "missing separate debuginfos, use: debuginfo-install glibc-2.12-2.i686" so I did that. However, although it began trying, I got the message "could not find debuginfo for main pkg: glibc-2.12-2.i686"

I am running Fedora 13, with pretty much the standard repositories which come with it.

Fedora :: SystemTap Fails Due To Missing Package (kernel-debuginfo)?

Jul 12, 2010

I'm having troubles running systemtap scripts. It fails to run with message:

Code:

Checking "/lib/modules/2.6.33.3-85.fc13.i686/build/.config" failed: No such file or directory Ensure kernel development headers & makefiles are installed.

Then I typed:

Code:

$rpm -q kernel kernel-devel kernel-debuginfo
kernel-2.6.33.3-85.fc13.i686
kernel-devel-2.6.33.5-124.fc13.i686
kernel-devel-2.6.33.6-147.fc13.i686
package kernel-debuginfo is not installed

So no kernel-debuginfo, a package which I cannot find in repo. So where to get it and why it's not included in default installation if SystemTap is. It's like having Apache without tcp/ip stack.

CentOS 5 Hardware :: Using Asus P6T Built-in Intel RAID - CPU Fan Fails And The System Halts - Recover Data?

Jan 20, 2011

The situation: computer based on Asus P6T motherboard. Two RAIDS:

- 'boot', on motherboard built-in RAID controller (CentOS 5.5 installed on this RAID)
- 'data' on 3dware RAID card

At one moment a CPU fan fails and the system halts. After the fan is replaced, BIOS informs it's reset and all the inner controller data are forgotten. After I switch it to 'RAID' mode, it remembers it was a mirror raid (RAID 1) installed, but the file system on it is completely trashed.

The 'data' RAID run by external controller isn't affected by the system failure. Three questions:

- is it worth trying to install OS on the rebuilt 'boot' RAID once again? Looks like if BIOS settings are lost for some reason, there's chance of completely losing RAID data
- has someone encountered similar problem with built-in RAID nd was it possible to recover data?
- will the software RAID be worth creating instead of using hardware RAID to replace the 'boot' drive?

Ubuntu Installation :: Getting Qt 4.7.0 Built And Installed

Aug 13, 2010

I wanted to develop using some of the bleeding edge features of the new Qt framework, but there is no easy way to get 4.7.0 installed on lucid. The build is relatively easy with a few minor annoyances.

Code:
# first grab some general require packages
sudo apt-get install build-essential
# now grab the build deps for the current qt (mostly the same as for 4.7.0)
sudo apt-get build-dep qt4-x11
# need to grab some extra libs that are not build deps
sudo apt-get install libphonon-dev libgstreamer0.10-dev libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev
# grab the source package from [URL]
wget [URL]

# now configure qt 4.7.0 with declarative support
# the annoyances here are all the extra includes that are required
# i am installing to $HOME/qt/qt-4.7.0 but feel free to change that
./configure -prefix $HOME/qt/qt-4.7.0 -I/usr/include/gstreamer-0.10 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/libxml2 -opensource -declarative -confirm-license -v 2>&1 | tee config.log
# build (takes a while)
make
# install
make install

If anyone out there knows of a PPA that is building Qt 4.7.0, please let me know. I would be interested to abandon building it manually.
