I'm disappointed because I installed jdeveloper 11114 , I mean the .bin file, whoch I ran successfully, but when I launch jdeveloper there is a redraw bug, the toolbar is not displayed successfully, and the components of the menu and of the toolbar appear and disappear when I hover it with the mouse.
any idea which would allow me to use this tool?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used the zypper dup tool to upgrade my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop and my display is now broken into columns and partially obscured. I can barely see anything on it. When I ran zypper it stopped about half way and locked up.I then ran it again to completion. At boot, GRUB gives me my startup options as before and is clearly readable with good resolution. When I select openSuse to start it, the screen goes blank for a few seconds and then comes back with the screen problems.
The problem continues all the way into KDE. I have approximately four columns displayed but I can barely see anything. Most of the lower half of what should be displayed is obscured so I cannot load any applications. If I right click, I can make out the dialog box and select the run command. From there I reran the zypper command using the 'zypper up rpm' option and it says "nothing to do" and the "highest update version is already installed."
The display problem also exists if I use the failsafe boot option. I remember having to download nVidia driver last year to get a better resolution, but 11.2 (64 bit) worked great until the repositories stopped working and I no longer was able to load software. Now I can't use the computer to download and burn a DVD version of 11.4. Again, I do seem to be able to use the terminal, so I could presumably fix something with it if I had the right commands and I do seem to have access to the repositories.

I have a personal apache server with php5 module in it that I have set to host user directories Host/~username. When I introduce any errors to the php file, such as echo "Syntax error; , I get a blank white screen. The error exists in the apache log file in /var/log.
I have found the php.ini file in and found every occurance of "error" in it and set it to "On" or E_ALL depending on what the argument wants. I still get a white screen.
I made an ubuntu live usb with a 2gb persistent casper rw using pendrive linux's portable installer. this works fine on most computers, but on my laptop, it boots just fine, but the screen is divided with little lines and overlaps slightly on the righr into the left(pic included). the laptop in question is an hp pavillion dv2000 special edition.

Also if I access the machine in question as the same user but remotely using remote X (X-terminal on my LAN) it works fine.Sometimes if I wait and count to 30 it comes up but a lot of the features don't work.During the last week have posted this question on the compuserve linux forum and also in the xfce site forum with no solutions.seems there must be something in that user's directory which is hanging it up. I keep the same /home/users directory on a separate partition so when I upgrade for new versions of slackware the /home/users remain the same - I symlink home to that partition so upgrades are somewhat seemless.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI try to set up a 5 nodes cluster and a shared Coraid Storage with conga but it fails with "Shared Storage Support" checked.The message is:'A problem occurred when installing packages: Packages of set "Clustered Storage" are not present in available repository' and it is shown under every node on the next sceen after I submit.The pc where conga runs is on the same subnet (192.168.xxx.xxx) and it has the same /etc/hosts of the other nodes.In that pc runs a proxy too and the nodes go out through it (that pc has 2 NICs)Every node (2.6.18-128.1.14.el5-xen-x86_64) is patched whith the last yum update (this morning) the same is for the pc (2.6.18-128.1.14.el5).Every node has 4 NICs , 2 NICc towards the storage the others in bonding towards the WAN.Every node is exactly alike, they have been installed with the ks.cfg generated from the first node and they all have the support for Clustering, Virtualization, and Clustered Storage.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mouse and trackpad button control is severely impaired in 11.3, KDE 4.5.1 (or .2) using Compiz. Gnome works fine. XFCE has some problems. The mouse control of window features is sometimes limited to one window with the rest of the desktop not responding to mouse actions. Popping up a second window from an app causes the mouse control to be completely lost. The issue leaves KDE effectively broken having only keyboard control. With some ESC key hits and using right mouse button to close one app (from the panel), I can move focus to another app but mouse control within the app is non-existent. Moving windows or raising or lowering doesn't work either. Sometimes, the GUI captures the mouse click but does not recognize the active App and applies it to objects sitting on the desktop screen underneath.
I've reverted partially back to the 11.3 installation DVD then reload updates and then moved to stable release of 4.5, then went back to the 4.5 factory. All failed to correct the problem. I removed .kde/.kde4 files and this did not help. What is wrong with my system? Also installed the latest kernel of the repos then reverted back to 2.6.34.7-0.3 [x64]. [very frustrating, been using Suse/KDE for >7 yrs, this one has me stumped]
I am not sure of which LibreOffice version I am using because I can't open the ****ed program. So here's what's happening: I start LibreOffice, my screen looks unusual (it tiles a section of the screen that is the same size as the LibreOffice window (I think) across both of my monitors) and my system locks up. I am unable to use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Ctrl+Alt+F1-F8, or any other keyboard combination. No mouse click registers and the cursor acts as if the mouse is in one location (if the system locked up with my cursor over a link, the cursor stays like that) BUT the mouse still moves. Also, if I am playing music when it locks up, I can continue to hear the music and the music continues to shuffle through my playlist.
I am able to access my machine normally through ssh and the only way I've been able to fix this is to hold down the power button or pull the power. I have not identified what action causes the system to lock up, the only thing I've noticed is that LibreOffice is open every time this happens (It's happened no matter if Writer or Calc is open). The system almost always locks up upon startup of LibreOffice if the recovery window pops up, otherwise it locks up at some point during my LibreOffice session no matter what. I have not touched LibreOffice on my other machine's openSUSE installation, so I don't know how reproducible the problem is. Let me know if you need any extra information or if there are any diagnostic commands I could run.
Sometimes (not always, mind you), several applications, lag. A lot. For instance, Blender 3D is entirely unusable and don't get me started on Fallout 3. Other examples include Minecraft (Not the Windows .exe but the .jar) and XMoto. So I assume it has something to do with the graphics driver or the likes. For some reason, Compiz still works fine. The only way I can fix those lags is to reset X, which is not exactly a good way, especially because this happens to shut down uShare and thus cancels my movie stream. So..

It installed and works both in Cheese and in Skype. (outstanding image!)
But, there is a severe lag in the image (audio does NOT lag .. so makes using any on line VERY hard to do!) Is there some way to get this thing to work properly, or am I going to have to wait on 10.04 to see if that works? (hate to use the old saw of "it works in Windows", but it DOES on my Windows machine .. just that I want it to work on the Linux box as that is my primary box and used for almost all on line activities.)

View 6 Replies View Relatedi didnt find a solution to a display problem im having. my server mobo is an asus k8n-dre with built in video. after the install(using built in video) the screen dosnt display fully as in black sections on the left and top of the screen. from the searching i did i found something about an "xrandr" command that would let me change the video settings but it didnt do anything with the black areas when i tried it. i also have a nvidia geforce 9500gt video card so i changed the jumper to boot from it and tried again. the black sections are still there but the centos display covers much more of the screen now. theres still about a third of an inch gap on the left hand side and about 1/4 of an inch on the top. ive also tried updating the software to see if it may be a driver issue but no luck. anyone know how or if it can fit to full sceen? the screen displays up to 1440x900 if im not mistaken but with the built in video it gave me lots of display options including the 1440x900. after changing to the nvidia card it only shows 800x600 and 640x480.

After the upgrade I began to notice that I was losing time pretty severely on the desktop clock (On the order of more than 1 second every minute!).I recently noticed an online game lagging exactly every 5 minutes and finally pinpointed it to this timekeeping script I wrote. I would like to fix the time drift issue on this PC properly now but have not found any helpful documentation online yet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a tool to index the files on my PC to allow full text search. I use recoll on Ubuntu and it does a great job. As I described in a previous post there does not seem to be an rpm package available for recoll on CentOS and I have not been able to build from source.So I tried beagle. In a nutshell the old version of beagle available for CentOS 5.6 does not do a good job of indexing pdf files. The newest version, tried on Linux Mint, does not do much better. And the beagle web site seems to be gone so I am not sure if it is an active product.
I have done some searching and most of what I find appear to be tools for indexing a web server. That is a bit of an overkill for my needs. I simply want to be able to search old email archives, OpenOffice documents, text and pdf files stored and accessed locally on the PC?

After installing RT3070 drivers for my RT2070 card I got everything working and life was good. Now, all of the sudden I am having a world of problems connecting to the internet. I can connect to my AP fine, but I cannot access the internet. If I attempt to ping my AP by IP address I get severe packet loss. I cannot ping my AP by url [URL] at all so Im guessing there are some DNS issues as well.

we bought a dual 12-core Opteron machine (Supermicro H8DGi board). Installed Slackware 13.37 and performed some few tests. We observed that performance quickly degraded as the box became loaded. For instance, a lonely task may took "t", but when running 24 of them at the same time (fully loaded box), it may took 2 to 3 times longer. From some test we did (tinkering with BIOS, moving memory modules, etc) we came to the conclusion the problem was due to a terrible memory managment. Finally we solved the problem by recompiling the kernel and taking the .config file from OpenSuse. Thus, there must be something to be tweaked in the standard Slackware .config file
