I am trying to search a tool for testing multicast. Currently, 'yum search multicast' yields nothing. I saw mcsender and mctest in google but they seem not to be supported in CentOS. Do you know any tool that can test multicast?

I am looking for a tool or command to test a USB pen drive.
This would typically involve outputting 8GB or 4GB of data from /dev/random (for example) to the pen drive, then reading it back and checking that 4GB/8GB is read back correctly or if in fact there is any errors when writing.
Does such a command exist or can it be made?
Perhaps using dd or something similar.
I know Windows utilities exist, so it must be possible on linux!
I want to test my netbeans project, whether it is Vulnerable to any attacks. So I have browsed for testing tools. I found this tool Coberturs-1.9.3. I have downloaded this tool and extracted and tried to run this tool. But I am facing all these problems as mentioned below.
I'm trying to receive data that is being broadcast on address 224.0.1.1, 224.0.1.2, 224.0.1.3, 224.0.1.4. ports are 1201, 1202, 1203, 1204 respectively. I can see the data using wireshark but can not get my program to receive the data. all firewalls are shutdown. iptables is not running, i've set net.ipv4_icmp_ignore_broadcasts = 0 and still no luck.
I have a PC connected by ethernet to a Galil motion controller card.I recently installed Centos 5.The Galil software for communicating with the card is reporting that it can't join a multicast socket group. The software used to work with another version of Linux.
I am in search of a free tool (Due to Finance Manager budget restrictions) for monitoring USB, Folder and Internet access for network users.I want to know when someone plugs in a USB drive, which folders they access and which websites they visit. CEO request but no budget given to this request.

My collection contains some MP3s which have some glitches like
displaying the wrong duration on loading minor jumps suddenly ending despite the duration claims another minute remaining noise
I'm looking for a tool that can detect as many of these glitches as possible and fix those that can be fixed (obviously e.g. noise can not simply be eliminated in most cases).
I just installed ubuntu 10.10 on my HP G70-460US laptop, the ethernet connection works but my wifi card cant be detected..I dont know if the the wifi state being "off" (there is a button to turn it on and off) has anything to do with ubuntu not being able to pick up on it..but even before i had no problem getting ubuntu to find the proprietary drivers.
I am looking for a NATIVE Linux tool (e.g. does NOT require WINE) to operate a scanner using the TWAIN protocol over USB. I found a package called "twain" but it appears to not be a package. The following message is produced by attempting to install it:
Code:
E: Package 'twain' has no installation candidate
The following information is produced about it by the "aptitude show twain" command:
Code:
No current or candidate version found for twain Package: twain State: not a real package

I'm looking for a tool that can directly convert mp3 file to a swf file. Tried ffmprg - 'ffmpeg -i master.mp3 -ar 22050 -ab 32 -f swf -y -vn new.swf', output is as follows:
I found a way to perform this task using ffmpeg to convert the mp3 file to a wav file, and converting the wav into a swf file using swftools (wav2swf), although this is not a good option because the output swf file size is very big - for a 12mb input 320kbps stereo mp3 file, the swf file is 25mb. Also downloaded a free direct mp3 to swf conversion software, which had an output swf file - with the same 12mb mp3 file - of ~400kb.
The requirements I have from the tool are:
1. Can be ran from the shell.
2. Direct conversion, or an indirect one that will produce a small output swf file.
how can i update php to the latest version from the testing repo via USB ? my machine has no internet access and no cdrom, my only choice is via USB, i have a 2 gb USB.
edit: i am trying to follow this guide: [URL] since i have no internet access, i have downloaded all files to my USB stick. i added the testing repo manually. is there a way to instruct centos to update these packages from my usb stick ? since i have them on USB, i can upload them on centos.
Before installing Centos, I downloaded an image file and burned it to CD using InfraRecorder. It starts to run but does not complete. My machine is a new Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad CPU with 4G of RAM. It is a 64-bit machine, and I used the 64-bit image. After Centos (which I tried first) failed, I then tried (using the same burning software):
o Slackware o UBuntu o gNewSense o Knoppix o Debian o Fedora o Suse o BSD o Solaris 0 puppy Linux
Most failed similarly to Centos. Knoppix worked fully several times, but I was not enthusiastic about installing it, and eventually (on the 5th iteration), it started to fail in a way similar to Centos, and continues so. Solaris and PuppyLinux worked. Those that failed, failed while attempting to start the 4 CPUs. Solaris and Knoppix (when it worked) succeeded in starting all 4 cpus and I could see the messages.
How to communicate what's happening during a failed boot? Finally, I hit upon the idea of photographing the screen during the failing part of the boot; the file is attached. The photo shows the screen just before it blanks, and the BIOS resets for another try. Please let me know if I can collect any other information. I would like to use Centos as a dual boot on my shiny new machine.
I have Centos 5. I enabled the EL repos so I could upgrade the php to the latest, and now there are upgrades that yum is not letting me get. I have a Virtualmin VPN plugin that needs Virtualmin to be updated to 5.10, but it seems when I updated PHP with the EL repos Yum is now reducing my available packages. Here are some outputs. with some things removed for length.
Alright, so I installed the c5-testing versions of httpd, php, and mysql, since my server is used for other daemons primarily and these aren't used as production servers I decided to test the bleeding edge versions of these, report any bugs I find, etc. The problem is, since I updated httpd and mysqld they no longer start up at boot. I tried using chkconfig --add with both of them, but both their init.d scripts have - for levels, so I did not assign any levels. They still do not start up at boot. [URL]
I running Centos 5.3 on a computer with no internet access and no cdrom, i need to know how to keep it updated via USB stick. I have a 2 Gb USB stick, i am trying to update my centos machine and also update php and mysql with the testing repo packages. I am testing vBulletin 4 Publishing Suite and vBulletin 4 requirements are: PHP: 5.2.0 and MySQL:4.1.0 but Recommended: PHP: 5.2.6 or newer AND MySQL: 5.0.19 or newer.
mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.77, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 5.1

I hoped to use php-5.2 while keeping close the the centos packages (no external repositories). So I tried the packages from http://dev.centos.org/centos/5/testing/i386/RPMS/ .These packages seem to be compiled without mime-magic support (--without-mime-magic).The previous stable php-5.1.6 packages had this mime-magic support enabled.
I wanna uninstall ipp 6.0 and reinstall ipp 5.3 under linux centos 5.3. I'm not able to uninstall ipp 6.0 and I'm getting this error: ERROR: ERROR: Unable to find rpm tool, add its location to your PATH and restart uninstallation
Also, I'm not able to install ipp5.3 and I'm getting the same error ERROR: ERROR: Unable to find rpm tool, please add its location to your PATH and restart installation
Often after using the network tool, making changes, saving changes, closing the tool, and running a 'service network restart'; the tool will not open again unless I reboot. This is the case both via System --> Administration --> Network and system-config-network (from the command line). I am in runlevel 5, as an uprivileged user when this happens.
I am looking for a tool to index the files on my PC to allow full text search. I use recoll on Ubuntu and it does a great job. As I described in a previous post there does not seem to be an rpm package available for recoll on CentOS and I have not been able to build from source. So I tried beagle. In a nutshell the old version of beagle available for CentOS 5.6 does not do a good job of indexing pdf files. The newest version, tried on Linux Mint, does not do much better. And the beagle web site seems to be gone so I am not sure if it is an active product.
I have done some searching and most of what I find appear to be tools for indexing a web server. That is a bit of an overkill for my needs. I simply want to be able to search old email archives, OpenOffice documents, text and pdf files stored and accessed locally on the PC?
