Sep 28, 2009
i am trying to configure advanced routing on my centos 5. i have try to load ipip.o and new_tunnel.o by menuconfig on kernel option and add tunneling and the two modules. the issue occured when i type make to reconpile the kernel , i receive the message below.
[root@mblpbx01 2.6.18-8.el5-i686]# make
scripts/kconfig/conf -s arch/i386/Kconfig
CHK include/linux/version.h
CHK include/linux/utsrelease.h
I am using centos with two physical LAN cards. Some times one of our internet link goes down so the entire network stop. Now there are two different ISP internet lines coming into a single computer in their respactive lan cards for load balancing. Kindly guide me that how can I enable Load Balancing in my Linux Box.
If one ISP goes down the load balancing server will use teh second one and vice virsa.
Every time after restarting my Linux machine, Network won't load and i can't activate eth0. After multiple restarts it comes activated but i am sure it is not what makes it to work.
Can some one ever heard about such situation? I have a 3com Ethernet adapter.
I have several CentOS 32-bit VMs running on ESX 4. Those that were updated to the most current patch level ("yum update", accepting all updates available last week) started showing load average of ~0.4 when completely idle. After comparing the problematic VMs with those that show zero load average at idle, and then modifying them in all kinds of ways, I narrowed it down to the combination of a recent kernel patch (2.6.18-164 is fine, 2.6.18-194 is not) and E1000 network adapter. Replacing the network adapter on a problematic VM with VMXNET3 fixes the load statistics.
I am running OpenVZ.I wanted to use the VPSs IP at a particular port to load the Servers Web Pages e.g. The IP 88.88.88.88 is the VPS IP and 77.77.77.77 is the servers main ip.My files are on the main server at /usr/local/pages/
I want to load the page from the URL: https://88.88.88.88:8888
These should load the files from the main server at /usr/local/pages/ Virtuozzo a OpenVZ panel does it. So how is this going to be possible ? Will DNAT do the trick : iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -d 88.88.88.88 --dport 8888 -i eth0 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.0.1:8888
Ive installed centos freebsd and mandriva but i want to manage grub from my centos and y create successfully a boot load for freebds. But for mandriva it just doesnt work... so how can a create a boot load entry for mandriva from grub centos?
I have a new installed CentOS with Asterisk on a dell p4 286 ram, 40gigHD and am unable to get the asterisk gui to start. After new installation i am able to get all the way to the root@localhost level. Every command I use (from forum answers and site searches) deems a "no such file or directory" response from the server.s a precaution, I re-downloaded and re-installed the application. Is there a direct command to run at root@localhost to start the asterisk gui and if so what is it? When I type asterisk -r (or any command with asterisk in it) it responds "asterisk is running in a different directory". If not, can someone please direct me to the correct help section to uninstall CentOS until I am able to test on my own machine at home and learn the entire system before reinstalling it as our phone server. I have limited time at work to get the VoIP to install and run.
I dual boot XP and FC14 and have 2 routers. I can connect and ping one of these routers when I'm in FC and I have an IP address I just can't load any websites. When I connect to the other router (my main router) it works fine. When I boot into XP and connect to the problem router I can load pages fine. It's only when I'm on FC14 and connect to the problem router that I can't load pages even though I have an IP and can ping around.
I been working on this issue for a couple days without success. PHP.ini will not load extensions. I am able to modify php.ini parameters successfully with the exception of the extensions. It would be appreciated if someone can shed some light on this issue.
Troublshoot check for multiply php.ini restart apache
1. Environment:
CentoOS 5.2 Apache2 PHP 5.11
2. dir apache2= /usr/local/apache2 php = /usr/local/apache2/php lib = /usr/lib which contains pdo.so, pdo_mysql.so, sqlite.so, pdo_sqlite.so
I successfuly installed CentOS to my Dell laptop using CentOS_5.5_Live_DVD.iso and mounting it to a USB flash drive with iso2usb.exe, Now my laptop will Not load CentOS when I remove the USB flash drive, I get a messege saying "no system found".
I'm running centos 5 on my other pc, the latest version downloadable, and when i go to run firefox or konqueror to browse the web, they don't load. there is no errors, or errors in the logs, so i don't know what to do.
When my server starts I received this text:No kdump kernel image found:[WARNING]Tried to locate /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-164.6.1.el5.centos.plusLoading kdump:[FAILED]
I have acquired what appears to be an old Gateway 2000 686 (Intel Chipset 82845G) with a Radeon X1600 graphics card and plan to turn it into a web server, although a minor problem, but I can not get a GUI (GNOME desktop) to load, however a text based server loads fine.Whether I use default 'GNOME Desktop' option at install or load text based install and use yum to install the GUI later, I get a couple of screen flickers and the screen goes black on start up.
I installed CentOS with KDE and Gnome. the computer starts with a console instead of a window manager. When I try to start Gnome (using either startx or gdm), it freezes the whole computer. I can't even get to another command prompt using Control+Alt+F2, when I try to start Gnome.
After rebooting I tried starting KDE using the kdm command, but it prints out some error messages and logs me out of my session. (I've never seen a program force a log out of a session before! I thought that was strange.) I tried to record the errors by using the command "kdm > errors.log" and "kdm >> errors.log", but nothing is written to the errors.log file.
Also, under the (likely?) case that this problem is caused by the graphics card, I ran lspci and discovered that this computer contains this graphics card: VGA Compatible Controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 04)
I am starting a new line of business for my company, selling IP PBX's, based on Asterisk.I am using the Elastix build, which is based on CentOS 5.5.I just purchased a Shuttle XS35-701,which is an Atom powered box, which draws 40W of power. It looks like it is going to make a great Asterisk appliance. My only problem is that CentOS doesn't recognize my network card.It is a JMicron JME260.JMicron has a "driver" on its web site. There are two versions for Linux: 1.0.5,available as a tar archive, and 1.0.6, in a rar archive. I have downloaded both a tried to install both. I get the same errors on either one.The instructions say to expand the archive, and to change to the proper directory. Then is says to "make install" I have done this multiple times. I get a series of errors:
make[1]]: Entering directory 'usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-194.3.1.el5-x86_64' CC [m] /root/jme-1.0.6/jme.o In file included from /root/jme-1.0.6/jme.c:41:[code]....
After I run this, there is no jme.ko. I have no idea why not. I don't know what to do about it. Has anyone installed this JME260 NIC? I just put another NIC in the machine. It is built onto the motherboard, and has no slots to put another one into.
I recently installed Centos-5.3-x86_64 in a PowerEdge2950 machine, to serves as an ftp server using proftpd-1.3.2. I noticed that the CPU load is much higher than the days when I was using RHEL-4.7-X86_64. In the past, CPU load get higher than 100 only when there're about 400 online users. But in Centos-5.3, the CPU load gets higher than 150 when there're 200 users.
The details of the server machine: Intel Xeon E5430, 16 GB RAM, 1.8 TB as a RAID disk, 400GB hardisk used to installed the system.
I suffered a kernel crash today - then noticed a newer kernel was available, so I updated to it.However, it's since crashed again! Here's the message - can anyone tell me what's going on, is this a known issue or is it bad hardware?
general protection fault: 0000 [1] SMP last sysfs file: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0/irq CPU 2
I am stuck with 2.6.18-92.el5 kernel for a long time now. My centos doesn't want to load any other kernel. Seems like it doesn't read grub.conf file on reboot. Here is my grub.conf
Im running drupal on my webserver and, this morning all of the sudden I went to edit a node and now I cant load the website in my browser at all. I can ping the machine and SSH into it fine, but it will not load the website in chrome or IE, I have no idea whats going on here.
Edit: I did a 'service httpd restart', it took 3mins to restart, is this normal? After I did that it loaded once, not even all of the page, now its doing the same thing again.
I have a centos 5.5 machine. First I upgraded my php to php 5.3. So I was then installing phpMyAdmin so I just put the whole folder into my /var/www/html/phpMyAdmin.The I tried to run my phpMyAdmin and I got this error Cannot load mysql extension. Then I uinstall my mysql db and reinstall it. Again it show me the same error. For addition info via the php info page for the Configure Command I saw this option -without-mysql' .
I'm new to CentOS and I'm trying to Install a Win2008 container using KVM but the option to install through local disc/iso is greyed out. I'm running a Dell Poweredge 2950 on CentOS 5.4 and installed/udpated the recent packages for KVM. This option is the same for Xen also. I've tried to install with SU and also logged in with root.
