View 1 Repliesi need to repeat a sequence of buttons in an infinite loop. I can't find the command to do that on xmacro.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI got a new laptop a few days ago, to which I installed Fedora 12, and I am trying to install xmacro on it. I downloaded.I looked at this thread and one of the posts says there are instructions here but the link does not work for me.I installed xmacro on my old laptop (Debian) with no problems. I don't remember how, but I suppose it will be different installing an rpm anyway.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIve heard so much about linux and while it is great to be back online it is frustrating when certain sites and applications dont work with linux. Why cant linux produce a simple o/s like windows where i can download a file and open it simply without having to type and search.
I dont want to give up on ubuntu but unless i can get freecorder working or the sound recorder to actually record by itself or with audacity and tvu player and andromedanet.com to work hen i will have to, but my question remains- why cant linux be so user friendly to pcnumbnuts like me and others and perform simply and then you would have a real alternative to windows, but until then windows wins all time bye all.
I'm building a pxeboot server for tools and installation of Operating Systems.
But I'm having trouble with the default option of booting from local disk drive.
Code: LABEL Local_Drive
MENU LABEL ^5. Boot Local Drive
# localboot 0
KERNEL chain.c32
APPEND hd0 0
When I select this on the client machine, it says "booting..." but nothing happens.
I'm not sure whats wrong or if syslinux is broken or something.
I've also tried
Localboot 0x80
and
Localboot 0
Running Linux Mint 9 isadora - After closing the lid I have problem with wireless not working and sound will not work. I have to restart the computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently our Son showed me Xscreensaver which he has running on his Debian Squeeze machine. Since I really like what you can do with it and since I use Squeeze as well, I figured that I'd try out the Xscreensaver on my system. Compiz is already working and I haven't had any 3D related problems yet. Anyway, so I install xscreensaver from the software center ... then I go to the main menu ... sure enough it's there alright. Then I place a checkmark in the box to activate/display that feature in the main menu ... but after a second or two the checkmark just vanishes. This happens over and over, even after rebooting.
I thought that a logged in user has full privileges over the items that appear in the main menu? Am I missing something? I don't know of any other (root) method to access the main menu with the apps ... Everything else reacts fine, just the folder for the xscreensaver can't be checked.
As the title of this post indicates, I recently switched over to SuSE from Fedora 14. I find that the default software repositories in YaST lack a lot of the amusements and applications I use for my legal work.
What I'm really looking for are apps that work well with the US tax code or plugins for law citations in LibreOffice. I could totally rely on SuSE if I could find that stuff!
I'm also looking for a few awesome games that I can download from an official repository. Can anyone recommend apps that fulfill my needs, any cool non-rogue RPG games or any software repositories where I can find them? I've got an X86_64 machine, openSuSE 11.4 KDE installed and I've got 4GB of DDR3 RAM.
I have a wiered tab-autofill behaviour when using the terminal on my laptop. the autofill wont work for applications when i have "sudo" or "gksu" in front of it. it does however work with pathways. on the other hand, when i connect to my laptop with ssh, it works like it should.

I was wondering if torrents and torrent programs don't work as well in Linux compared to Windows.I have used them in the past but all of a sudden, nothing would work in my Kubuntu install. Absolutely nothing would start. I tried different configurations, settings, but nothing. I left it alone and rebooted and started up XP. I installed Azureus and I didn't do nothing else.I didn't even configure Azureus and left the router settings.I was able to start a download.I've used KTorrent (default) and Azureus before.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI desperately need help with Bering UClibC and SNMP checks. Now before I begin, I have managed to get this working on CentOS in the same hosting environment, so I am not completely new to this. Now my problem.I am trying to get OpManager checks (live moitoring software) to work on Bering 3.1.1 over SNMP.I have configured everything correctly in the snmpd.conf. The correct natting and ports are open from the firewall, I have installed all the packages necessary (netsnmpd.lrp, libm.lrp, libsnmp.lrp, snmpmibs.lrp).
I have been working on this for the last 3 days and it is starting to get very frustrating that I cannot get this to work. The main device that I am trying to get working is a Soekris 5501, thinking that it might be a hardware issue I booted up a workstation and ran Bering and tried it on there and still no luck, which basically ruled out hardware. I believe it's a MIBs issue, but I cannot seem to find the MIB's required for the Soekris device.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Or can someone confirm that they have gotten SNMP checks to work with Bering on Opmamager and if so how did you do it?
I have this weird program: dns2tcpc (creates a dns tunnel). I would like it to run at startup. However, I found that the program doesn't work when backgrounded! EX: dns2tcpc -z dns.domain.com -l 8888 208.67.222.222 Works, and I can use SSH to port 8888. However, if I try to background it, like: dns2tcpc -z dns.domain.com -l 8888 208.67.222.222 & Then trying to connect to SSH won't get any response
Now, I know this is a bug in dns2tcpc, and I really don't feel like compiling it or anything (I may have to), so is there any way to "trick" an application into thinking it's running in the foreground (like typing the command from the terminal window)? (Bonus if no addition installation is required)
if ubuntu netbook remix have a built-in firewall, and how does this firewall work when i install applications like Valknut? Do i have to change firewall, or does it make the changes automatically? If i need to manually change open ports in firewall, then i want a easy to understand gui, if there is one. I want to add port-ranges, with options [tcp],[udp],[both] or single ports with same options. Im looking at Guarddog, since i installed all deps for Guidedog. how Guarddog would behave with ubuntu's config?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) system to 10.04 (Lucid) and my remote X applications no longer work. The problem seems to pertain to Xauthority. When the remote X client attempts to access the X server on Lucid it receives an error indicating that there is no matching MIT Magic Cookie (hereafter cookie) for the display. It turns out that this is true. I'm of the belief that the subject cookie should be generated for my display when the X session is started on Lucid.I thought this was being done by GDM when I logged on. However, $HOME/.Xauthority contains only 1 cookie which is for the display identified as "Pluto/Unix:0" (Pluto is the name of the host). I'm expecting a cookie for a display identified as "Pluto.my.test:0" where "my.test" is the domain name for my network.

I am looking for image batch processing (mainly resizing) apps. As I have problems with Nautilus Image Resize in the other thread, are there any other software that is fairly easy to use to batch resize images? Preferably from a one-click install that works. I tried Phatch, but that didn't work for me.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLike for instance, if I have Ubuntu Lucid Lynx installed with XFCE, and it has an applications made for XFCE. will the applications also work on say some other distro like, Wolvix, that is an XFCE-based distro~????
What I am trying to say is: Do applications that are made for XFCE, work on ANY distro that has XFCE installed?
I haven't used Ubuntu for a while, and just reinstalled it. I have one major dislike about the new version, There are several applications I click on and it takes me to the installer. How do I remove those types of applications or just install them all?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI feel shy asking this question but, 90% of the applications I install in Ubuntu (last release), do not show up later on in the applications menu, so I cant run them. I know it seems silly, but I can't find the way to handle this inconvenience. Is there a place (like Start> All programs in Windows), were I could find and run all the programs I install?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was any way to remove icons from the installed applications menu?I recently attempted to install GOG.com's Zork Anthology using Wine and when I de-installed, the icons for those files were still listed in installed applications. Is there anyway to delete them manually?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a large number of virtual machines, each with a basic set of about 30 applications. Obviously, I don't want to do everything manually so I'm looking for ways to automate this process. Multiple distributions (Ubuntu, Red Hat Ent., FreeBSD, CentOS, etc.) will be used, meaning I will have a few Ubuntu installs with the basic set of 30 applications, and multiple Red Hat installs with the same set, etc. So, I'm looking for advice on automating as much of this as I can, even if it means a new form of automation for each distro.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a programmatic way to get the list of all installed applications on Linux.
Also, how can we get the application activities in Linux OS like running applications name, time of day when they started, duration till the applications were running on system, application version etc.
Is there a way to do this in C/C++.
I am building an app that runs like a daemon and fetches the applications status and sends it to the network admin for him to monitor the application usage pattern on the user computers in the network.
I have a windows app installed under wine. It works fine. However, it has the ability to launch openoffice to do further functions. Obviously I have openoffice installed under linux, but the wine app cannot see it. How can I make the wine app see across the emulation layer into linux to see the app it needs? Dont tell me I need to install openoffice under wine as well to get it to work!
