Software :: Xmacro Complaining About Dependencies That Appear To Be Installed
May 16, 2010
I got a new laptop a few days ago, to which I installed Fedora 12, and I am trying to install xmacro on it. I downloaded.I looked at this thread and one of the posts says there are instructions here but the link does not work for me.I installed xmacro on my old laptop (Debian) with no problems. I don't remember how, but I suppose it will be different installing an rpm anyway.

I have been running f13 ever since it was released. Evidently the kmod-rt2870 rpms are never deleted when older kernels are removed. When I tried to do today's update the Package Manager and yum complained that some of the older kmod-rt2870 packages left over from fedora 12 were missing kernel dependencies. The kernels have been missing for a long time. I don't know why the package manager started complaining today.
I tried
1) yum clean all
2 rpm --rebuilddb
3) removed the /lib/modules directory corresponding to the old kernels
and the problem persisted.
I finally removed all of the kmod-rt2870 rpms what where originally installed in fedora 12 and I was finally able to complete the update. Why did the package manager suddenly start complaining about the missing kernels?

I searched for a hex editor in the USC, and chose to install a package called okteta. Only problem is...(I didn't realize until after it was too late to cancel)...it's a KDE package.Since it was probably one of the first (only?) KDE based app on this fresh Lucid installation, I believe about 115 (!) packages (see the list below) were installed in addition to the one I wanted. Grrrr.I then went into synaptic and removed okteta, but as I should have known, it did not remove any of the dependencies.I then looked at the dpkg logfile to see what had been installed. Here's what I found:Quote:
2010-05-18 02:27:56 install libqtcore4 <none> 4:4.6.2-0ubuntu5
2010-05-18 02:27:58 install libattica0 <none> 0.1.3-0ubuntu1
2010-05-18 02:27:58 install libqt4-network <none> 4:4.6.2-0ubuntu5

I did a compile and checkinstall of a Debian package (and then deleted the temporary directory tree I compiled in), and had to redo the compile and checkinstall since I screwed up on the dependencies (I think it's item #10) on the checkinstall "menu".
Looking for a quick and dirty shortcut, I was wondering where the post-install dependencies for the packages are stored. Is it in /var/lib/dpkg/status ?
If not, where is the dependency information for installed packages stored?

Gnome-sharp is a dependency of Tomboy. It has many dependencies itself, but all are satify-able from SBO. So I installed them all (yes including mono!) from SBO, then tried to install gnome-sharp. Problem is when running the slackbuild I get this error -
Code:
pkgconfig/../../lib/mono/gtk-sharp-2.0/gtk-sharp.dll -r:/usr/lib/pkgconfig/../../lib/mono/gtk-sharp-2.0/glib-sharp.dll /r:../../gnomevfs/gnome-vfs-sharp.dll -r:Mono.GetOptions.dll ./TestXfer.cs

Does aptitude(or apt-get) have the functionality to remove the packages installed from using build-dep? It just seems convenient if you want to remove a program that was built from source.

I am trying to run algodoo from terminal after I install it, but it doesn't run. It gives this error. I have been having troubles with permissions in the /usr folder recently, so I think that is what might have caused this. Please read through it thoroughly, as algodoo is actually located in the /opt folder.
Code: jon-Tuxbox:~$ sudo '/opt/Algodoo/algodoo/algodoo'
There are missing dependencies.
Please make sure that all the required libraries are installed.
Missing:
libcxcore.so.2.1 => not found
libcv.so.2.1 => not found
libhighgui.so.2.1 => not found

Are there any quick and easy ways to find all of the dependencies required for a package to be installed, so that we dont have to spent a lot of time searching for each package or downloading them individually?

Any time I start k3b, it complains about 'The file or folder /media/disk/.... does not exist' (which indeed does not exist). Where is this path stored? How can I remove it? grep -r /media/disk ~/.kde/* does not give any hit.

I've been trying to run a simple `yum update` for the last couple weeks, but it barfs before it finishes every time. For every single package it will say something similar to "('installing package libdrm-2.4.17-1.fc12.i686 needs 208KB on the /boot filesystem', (9, '/boot', 212992L))"
Here's an example of the output:
Code:
Running rpm_check_debug
Running Transaction Test
Finished Transaction Test
Transaction Test Succeeded
[Code]...
This is a machine that I recently put through several upgrades: Fedora 9-> Fedora 10 -> Fedora 12. The computer has been working well for the most part, with some minor bugs here and there. Yum updates were working just fine until this popped up.

For a while my ISP has been sending me emails regarding an infected computer or computers on my local network. There are 4 computers running linux and 3 running windows on said network (3x ubuntu, gentoo, 2x windows server 2003 and windows 7).Now, I haven't used Windows in oh so many years and am not responsible for those computers on this network. Does it seem like this is a virus on a Windows host or should I research and adjust my iptables settings on the router? The applied anti-virus software (I don't know which one) apparently does not find any infections. On my workstation I'm using spotify and win32 office through wine, both obtained from legal and trusted sources, and would thus not consider my wine environment a threat.

I'm trying to get automounting working with Arch on my laptop, and I've installed thunar-volman. The trouble is, whenever I put in a CD or plug in a USB mass storage device (thumb drive, USB hard drive, etc.), it gives me a dialog like the following: Quote:
Failed to mount [CD/DVD/USB device here]. Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.31" (uid=1000 pid=5706 comm="exo-mount) interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member="Mount" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="org.freedesktop.Hal" (uid=0 pid=2186 comm="/usr/sbin/hald)).
I'm guessing this means there's some config in HAL or DBus that I need to fix, but I can't even begin to figure out what file it could be in.. I've tried searching LQ and Google to no avail. It seems that either the solution is sitting right in front of me, or hardly anyone even has this problem. I can mount the devices manually (as root), but like I said, if I put in a CD/DVD or plug in a USB storage device, or if I double-click the icon on the desktop, I get the above error. I've tried adding myself to the groups optical, disk, storage, and power, but I still get the same thing.

I am currently trying to upgrade over 100 rpms on multiple Red Hat servers. Whenever I try to do a rpm -u /packages/*.rpm i recieve a failed dependencies error on the very first rpm. I know that I can go though each rpm one by one and trace each dependency but that will take forever. Is there a way to skip these errors? I know the -nodeps command for rpm but I dont want to screw something up but running all of these rpms on -nodeps

This is with my amd64 Sid box with a nvidia graphics card. X is broken and can not load after a dist-upgrade.

The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
So I install xserver-org-core, but it's already there
I guess I wait until xorg-xserver-abi is added to xserver-xorg-core? Yeah, I should have waited on the dist-upgrade....

I am using slackbuilds.org, linuxpackages.net, sBOpkg, slackyeu and very good source is www.slackfind.net for browsing and finding packages.
But sometimes when I download and Install package (with slapt-get or installpkg tool) I dont have all dependencies to run my software. Slapt-get can solve dependencies only if the are locate in repository.
Than, I start to find dependencies manually on high writed sites, but usually I cant find it. (Off course, only some packages).
Easy way is go to [url] and I can find 99% all of dependencies to my packages in rpm format and for various architectures.
I use rpm2tgz and just convert rpm to tgz and Install package as normal. 95% packages installed this way is working.
Where do you find dependencies you? Or, is anybody using rpm for solving dependencies too?

I am trying to install gdb 7 because gdb 6.8 has been freezing quite a bit on me lately.
Code:
[doriad@davedesktop ~]$ sudo rpm -ihv gdb-7.0-3.fc12.i686.rpm
warning: gdb-7.0-3.fc12.i686.rpm: Header V3 RSA/SHA256 signature: NOKEY, key ID 57bbccba
error: Failed dependencies:
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.11) is needed by gdb-7.0-3.fc12.i686
libreadline.so.6 is needed by gdb-7.0-3.fc12.i686
It looks like the latest version of readline in F11 is 5.2 and glibc is 2.10. Is there an easy way to get these dependencies installed in Fedora 11?
