Ubuntu Servers :: 11.04 Nouveau Errors After Installing?

Just installed ubuntu server 11.04 to have a play with. Ran through the installer and selected to setup as a virtual machine host. When booting I get 3 errors

Any insignt into what may be causing this would be well appreciated.
It may be also worth noting that I dont see the grub screen. My monitor reports "out of range" I also did have ubuntu server 10.10 on here previously which installed without issue. (It wasnt actually being used for anything) I'm currently trying a reinstall hoping the errors will go away but any info would be much appreciated.
My laptop is a Dell XPS 1340, it contains an integrated 9400M, and a discrete G210m. In trying to get vgaswitcheroo working with these cards, it seemed that every time I tried to switch outputs, my computer would freeze.

echo DIS > switch # Same with DDIS, same with OFF It seems like what would happen if vgaswitcheroo turned off the driver (nouveau) powering the card on PCI bus 3 (the 9400M), and attempted to turn on the driver powering the G210m, which doesn't exist.. I think? Can somebody confirm?
First some specs: Fedora 13 (Goddard) 32-bit NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
The DVI output on my card works just fine to my monitor, which is what I've been using. I installed no drivers; it just worked. However, now I need a duplicate screen to be given via the s-video output, but it doesn't work. Nothing is being given to the tv and nothing is being detected under monitors. From what I understand, this is because I need to install the appropriate Driver.
I downloaded my driver from the nvidia website, but it won't install. it tells me I need to disable nouveau.
I'm new to Linux use, and I'm trying to install new software. However, no matter what I try to install, I always get an error. This includes updates, and extra programs. What am I doing wrong?
I am facing one big problem at the time of installation "WINE- Software" in Ubantu 9.10 (Karmic Release), errors are like-

Actually I was planning to work with some "Windows application" program thru "Wine package", but could not able to install WINE software because of this error.
I have been having problems with Ubuntu. I just downloaded it yesterday and burned it to CD. However, when attempting to install it, I get errors. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the exact error but it stops the install. I will give further information later but wanted to ask if anyone has heard of this happening and if so, what the problems might be? I checked it with the MD5 and it appears to be a valid file, but the disk is giving me errors!
I'm trying to install 32 bit mimio software for an interactive whiteboard onto a 64 bit laptop running ubuntu.
I've used getlibs to install some of the missing libraries but am still having truoble with the install.

I'm a bit stumped about the GLIBCXX errors .... I have libstdc++ but I reckon i need some symbolic links or something .. I need to get pointed in the right direction. glibc is installed but I don't know what glibcxx is.
On a previous thread, I explained how I installed Fedora 14 from the live image disk onto a HP 2140 netbook only to find I was missing the development files. Stoat helped me use the more complete install DVD from Fedora 14 to install the development tools (rather than doing a complete reinstall -- which I would do if it made this work).
Unfortunately, I'm still unable to make PartImage 0.6.9 install. When I try, configure says that the bzip2 library (libbz2) is not found or too old. Apparently, this is because it can't get it to respond to BX2_bzopen from within the library. I think because it can't find the library. Inside the config.log file it seems to indicate that from an -lbz2 not found. Now I'm guessing that there is some trick to this, maybe some way of setting the library path to include the location of this and possibly other libraries under Fedora 14. I've checked the library's location and it seems to be in /lib as far as I can tell and bz2 does work, so it's somewhere. Of course it's possible since PartImage is pre-version 1 but doesn't have much if any activity on its forum that something has changed position in Fedora and the install isn't looking for it in the right place.
I've seen one blurb in the PartImage files that indicates that maybe using env to set environment variables on entrance to configure might work, but I'm not sure what variable to set or how to make it find the bz2 library. Note that I've been a UNIX user and administrator in the past, but that was in the System 7 days so that's rusty and I have no prior experience with LINUX of any kind.
I am trying to install gcc 3.2 on linux mint 10 julia . I have gcc 4.4.5 installed already. I am getting errors during the 'make 'stage. I did the following after downloading gcc-3.2.tar.gz

I have played around with Fedora for a few years and recently switched to Ubuntu. I am installing VMWare Workstation version 7.1.0 from a retail packaged CD. When I attempt to install VMWare Workstation and VMWare Player I get the following error:

I tried installing the patch for kernal 2.6.38-8 found here - [URL] - but it did not resolve the issue. Is there a patch for kernal 2.6.38-10?

Everything ran without error. However, I continue to get the same error. Another post suggested uninstalliung and reinstalling the software, but this had no affect either. Another post suggested that after running the above update to them run the /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl script. However I do not seem to have the vmware-config.pl in my /usr/bin directory. I checked the various VMWARE directories in /etc and the /tmp/vmware-root directories but no vmware-config.pl
I'm a complete newbie to Fedora and am just trying F15. I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player and am getting no-where fast. I have searched in the forums and on the web, copying and pasting the entries I have found but keep getting all sorts of errors because basically I don't know what I am doing.
I am using openSuse10.3 GNOME. While I am trying to install VLC player I am getting lot of errors like libmpeg2 not found, wxWidgets not found, postproc not found and also some errors like FRIBIDI. For the last two weeks I am trying to install all the versions of VLC player like vlc 0.8.6b, vlc0.9.8a, vlc1.0. But installation was not successful.
I'm trying to install virtualbox on slackware 13 and I'm running into header issues I think...it says it can't find libcap..any ideas? I downloaded libcap from slackbuild and tried to run make but I get errors (the second code block)

I've had this server for a while and I've periodically received similar errors, but it's been worse lately. I'm trying to diagnose and similar posts have left me with 2, maybe 3, ideas about what could be wrong. Here is the setup: Ubuntu Server 10.10 maverick kernel 2.6.35-30-server Sans Digital TR8 8 bay raid - 2 port multipliers to esata outputs 8 1TB WD Caviar Black Syba PCI-e card with Sil3124 chipset - 2 external esata inputs I do not use the RocketRaid 622 card that came w/the enclosure because I had problems with drivers and configuration so I went with the SI chipset. The raid is configured with mdadm, level 10, running ext3 file system:
What's odd is that the raid dropped out and completely locked up the computer multiple times, then marked one of the drives as failed. I did a readd on the drive and it rebuilt witout issue. Ran e2fsck -f to clean up the problems it had when it crashed, but as soon as I do heavy read/writes the errors start showing up again. This is primarily a media server for music and movies, but also for backups and printing. Heavy read/writes are generally transcoding movies and music which is what I was doing when it failed.

When I run cat /var/log/mysql.err the file is empty, thinking this might be a permissions issue I tried chowning to a mysql user. Here's the current permissions. i have strange problem on my wordpress-powered blog.while i'm connecting to server by ssh or physical console, everything works fine.however, when i tries to logout almost immediately 403 forbidden error pops up on every pages of my website.if there are two or more connections (like physical console and ssh terminal), terminate one of them does not cause 403 forbidden. but it shows 403 forbidden error page right after i terminated all connections.i can find two types of error in apache error.log while it shows 403 forbidden page.

After restarting, old kernel is booting, however from booting menu under advanced GNU/Linux options i can choice 3.2.66-grsec linux-image to boot, unfortunately it 'panics' (kernel panic - not syncing: grsec: halting the system due to suspicious kernel crash caused by root) and only way to turn off the computer is to hold down power button.

So I did some googling and found a post here {URL]... which speaks about resetting the ownership of the session directory. However I am wondering how I can find out what the owner if the directory is (if its root or admin or ...)
It's strange because it all worked fine just about two hours ago and I am not sure since I have the server automatically download security updates if there is something it automatically downloaded that caused this. Also how to make the server stop automatically downloading security updated?
Just had a new VPS installed running Ubuntu Server 8.04 Getting some errors when I connect to the server and try to use apt.. only trying to install nano and after messing around I've managed to get the error to change.. but still can't get any further.

When I restarted one of my servers today and actually worked directly on the system (not through SSH as usual), some weird error messages kept appearing in the console. So I checked the syslog and found several instances of the following lines:
I set up the web/backup server for our department and I'm having some major issues. Firstly, the server seems to be dropping the network connection periodically. I checked all of the logs and it appeared to be an IP6 issue as the only message that seemed to correlate with it was "eth0: no IPv6 routers present" in syslog. I added "ipv6.disable=1" to my boot options in menu.lst and this seemed to take care of the problem. However, I woke up this morning and the server was back down.
This didn't seem to take care of the problem. It seems to occur when my automatic backup scripts go through. I have several BASH backup scripts that use rysnc over SSH to backup several computers to the server and the server to my desktop at home. I was able to trigger the problem a couple of times running the backup script this morning. Now, I'm getting the following error when running the script, instead of losing the network connection:
I tried booting with a previous kernel to see if that was the problem and I'm still getting this error. I've searched through all of the logs that I could think of to try to track down any software based problems and I just don't see anything. In the past, whenever I've run into such serious with a Linux box that popped up out of nowhere, it's always been a hardware failure. I've currently disabled all of the backup scripts and I'm going to see if it lasts through the weekend.
I have a server that, due to the amount of data it's moving, tends to trash up the hard drive when I have a power outage or crash. It doesn't have a keyboard or monitor attached to it normally so it's a real pain when I have to boot it back up. I have to hook one up just to hit F to have it fix all the errors. Is there a way to have it do this automatically on boot rather then having to confirm it?
Why would this iptables cause this mail delivery error? I think it's to do with dns lookups not being routed properly... if remove the last rule, mail works fine.
ssh is also very slow to connect when the last rule is enabled.
