This seems to be strange problem, i have dell-mouse with middle-button(For scrolling),sometime in Firefox/Chromium when i scroll up or down,it automatically goes to refresh page or sometimes it moves back.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2.6 P4 with HT and 1GB of PC3200. i'm using an RaLink 2760 based wifi card. i compiled the driver from source, don't think it matters because i get this problem on ethernet as well. video is RV280 (radeon 9200). i have 3D accelleration supposively and get 570fps steady with glxgears. i'm in F11 updated as far as yum will take me.
When browsing websites, usually forums but even things like ....., the computer acts like it's being bogged down by something. i scroll down a page and it takes a few seconds for the screen to catch up. i understand i'm not running the most up to date hardware but i don't think this machine should have any problems with web browsing.

I've just installed Slackware 13.1 in two different laptops for first time. I have some strange internet browsing behaviour in one of the laptops. I've installed 2 internet browsers(firefox,opera) using the directions from Slackbuilds.org and there is also konqueror pre-installed. Moreover I installed Wicd network manager.
I can browse some pages e.g. ..... with firefox very slowly but NEVER facebook. I can browse almost any page, even facebook, with OPERA but very very slowly. The same goes with konqueror... Wicd shows that i am always connected with my WPA wireless network

i am able to try ubuntu and everything works fine until i try to install. the menu comes up to the first page where it tells you to plug in your machine and make sure there is enough disk space and network connectivity. when i hit next on this page the mouse icon changes but the next page never loads. the longest i let it hang there was 2 hours. ive tried multiple times with the same result.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn FC11 64 bit with Adobe flash plugin for Linux installed, I see segfault errors from "npviewer" in /var/log/messages. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?

What is my problem? I have a page (one page - text an graphic) to print. When I sent it to my printer it prints OK. When I sent it agian, the output is totally garbled. When I sent it again (a third time) it is OK. Sent it again (4th time) it is garbled. Sent it again ... you get the picture ;-). Alternating good and bad pages.
What is my setup? I run Fedora 14 with Cups 1.4.6. The printer is a HP Deskjet 940C. It is connected to a linksys wireless print server. It is configured in CUPS to use ipp printing. The driver I use in Cups is 'CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 Simplified (color, 2-sided printing)'.
I have apache httpd server on my Fedora 10I got 2 problems:First : I copied the web page files to its Document Root <var/www/html> & Disabled the default web page. But when I visit http:/localhost ，it shows up the list of files in <var/www/html> as if a ftp server browsed in web page. So how can I set http://localhost load my default web page index.html ?Second :I want to set up a web server on Internet through my router . I applied for DDNS account & input it into router correctly . I set virtual host in server to redirect any access from port 80 to 192.168.1.2:80 in LAN . Just for in case , I also download and running the DDNS software & installed it on PC 192.168.1.2 in LAN . My DDNS provider is oray.cn . It's a Chinese server provider . I don't think there is anything wrong with oray.cn . But if you need its information just visit oray.cn (Google can translate it for you). So I want to know did I miss something to set up a web server in this kind of situation

View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a Canoscan LiDE 30 scanner which works fine in Linux. I haven't used it in months, and never since moving from Jaunty x86_64 to Fedora 11 x86_64. This evening I suddenly need to scan two pages to send to someone via e-mail, and the recipient is desperate to receive them. Naturally, Xsane has decided this is the moment to screw me.
The problem: I cannot figure out how to tell Xsane that the page size is 8.5 11. It insists on scanning only the left side, 3.99 x 11. I cannot find a page size anywhere in any of the buttons.
In Preview I once got it to scan the entire page, but could not figure out how to save the image to file. Subsequently I have not been able to figure out how I did it. In any event, scanning from the small main window always scans 3.99 x 11. Adjusting the scan area manually in the Preview window allows me to change the size area in the small main window to 8.5 x 11, but when I then scan from the small main window it reverts to 3.99 x 11.
I have scanned the document a hundred times at least, each time trying different buttons, but nothing has succeeded in getting the full page.
I am running 9.10. I have a HP Photosmart 7350 printer. I have it installed and printing. But the issue I am dealing with is that it will print a full page and then print a blank page..then a full page..then a blank page. Actually they aren't completely blank..it shows half of "2 of 6" or whatever page it is on. Like it cuts that in half and prints the 2nd half of "2 of 6" onto a separate new page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got back to attempting to play with 10.04 using its Live CD. It consistently goes to the "Log In" page and not the Live CD page on running. I saw a Post specifying a F key to be pressed on boot-up to get to the desired starting point some time ago, but did not write it down. Some advice did say press Any Key but this does not seem to do the job. Tried to use the search function here but no joy. Can anyone remember which F key? Note that as a check, I tried to use 9.10 Live CD and this worked fine, so it is not a machine problem.

The only change I have made is to disable ipv6 to see if it helped with the following problem. Browsing web pages is stupidly slow and much slower than I am used to.Downloading in firefox is normal and running at speeds I would expect.For example, I have downloaded several distro .iso's over the past two days and they have been consistently downloading at 1MB/s +This is only affecting browsing web pages and it's affecting all of them, even the basic google search page takes at least twice as long as normal.

I've got the strangest bug and no idea what is causing it. While web browsing, sometimes the OS will completely crash. The crash always goes the same way:
First, it shows some text on the screen too fast for me to read, but it looks like red ASCII bullet points followed by white text, both over a black background.

* SOMETHING SOMETHING
After doing this for about half a second, it enters some kind of loop. The top half of the screen alternates between black/white vertical bars and solid black, while the bottom half of the screen remains solid black.
The only way I've been able to get out of this is by pressing the power button, and doing so shows me the *buntu logo (currently using Xubuntu) and then turns itself off.
Here's why I can't figure out what's wrong:The crash happens in GNOME, KDE, and XFCE. I have since uninstalled KDE because I was just checking to see if it still crashed.
Both Firefox and Google Chrome cause the crash.
No other programs seem to crash this way; just the web browsers. I've played games and listened to music for hours with no problems.
Opening the same pages doesn't reproduce the crash. It happens randomly every hour or so.
Even simple pages (like tabs of JPEGs with no HTML) cause the crash.
This is a recent install from an Ubuntu 10.04 CD.
I was previously using Kubuntu 8.04 and had no issues.
There is a string of commands in about:config in Firefo where you can disable the browsing history, but I cannot remember where it was

View 9 Replies View Relatedweb browsing is going SUPER slow in my samsung N150 netbook with dual boot(win7/ubuntu10.04). Windows counterpart working flawlessly.
Into the details:
The problem is, i go into a website and it seems to renderize by chunks, ie i enter my favorite PC hardware forum and it is like this when loading: Processors...1sec....Vid cards....1sec...Memory...and on and on until the bottom of the page is reached. The normal behavior is: Click...forum loaded ,as on windows.
By default i use my wireless conection, but also tried wired one to no avail. Also tried it from the live cd and i have the same problem. Some sitess like google, gmail and ..... load normally(instantly). I've tried disabling ipv6 as adviced in several parts and had no results. I used the default firefox 3.6.6, firefox 3.6.7 and chrome with the same results.

I have looked at other threads on this subject and am still confused. Several weeks ago I had issues with browsing taking forever to resolve a page. When I changed my router to Open DNS settings that seemed to fix the slows and when I replaced the Open DNS IP's with the Google IP's, things were even quicker. Now I am back to the slows but there is no resolution latency it's just a delay when clicking a link, nothing happens and then the page eventually loads but you see the ads write on the page after the text loads. It's just not snappy. My nsswitch.config looks like this:

I'll navigate to a page in Chromium and X will crash and restart, bumping me back to the login screen. Any idea how to start troubleshooting this?
Nothing obvious in the X logs.

It happened to me twice- once while browsing with chrome and once with firefox..the system just freezes, the mouse still move but nothing else is clickable.
ctrl+alt+backspace doesnt work,ctrl+alt+f1 does work-takes me to the command line even.
How to find the reason for the freezing? and what to do next?
Is it easier or harder to get support answered in Fedora v. Ubuntu?I see twice as many users browsing fedora over ubuntu. Is this because fedoraforum not good?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBrowsing via SSH Tunnel very slow When browsing in firefox at work via proxy through ssh on my 8.04 server the speed is near dial up. I have compression enabled, tried restarting ssh, and rebooting the server but it remains so sluggish. At home the connection is quick but the speed is lost in translation once I ssh in. I also tried adding "UseDNS no" to the ssh config but that did not help with the slow login or any other speed issues.

So I expand Network Printer, and go to "windows printer via SAMBA"When I hit browse, it shows my workgroup, so I expand WORKGROUP, and it shows the PC thats sharing the printer... however, soon as I expand that PC thats sharing the printer, the WHOLE thing closes out
