I'm using -current (xfce-4.6.2) I've noticed that the shortcuts I define aren't working anymore. The ones I define through windowmanager -> keyboard are ok, but the ones through keyboard-> application shortcuts are ignored.

Computer: Toshiba Satellite Pro L510 laptop, 10.10.This has always happened but I have gotten around it by time-out and putting my menu.list in order. When I first boot the machine (switch on for the day from computer being off) I get to the grub options to select a kernel and I have no keyboard. No up/down arrows so have to go with the kernel on top of the list (not always desirable).
When I get to the log-in screen if I hit restart and go back to the grub screen I have a keyboard and can select any kernel. If I login to the kernel I have full keyboard, no problem. If I then restart, I have keyboard at the grub list.
Nutshell: It is only when starting the computer fresh that the keyboard is dead at grub menu (and then only). Any time after that, once the computer has been switched on, if I restart I have keyboard at grub menu and can select different kernels. (Of course, if I switch the computer off and back on again, no keyboard ...)
I'm a used Ubuntu user on a pc, and I like the french keyboard layout because it allows me to type accentued characters easily.I found a win-fr keyboard layout but it's much like windows and not so good.I found xmodmap.fr keyboard layout and I'd like to know if it was possible use it with my Mac SL 10.6.5, maybe I could do xmodmap xmodmap.fr or a way to convert to mac layout file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install slackware 32 bit 13.1.After loading kernel it asks for keyboard configuration, but keyboard (usb wireless) doesn't work.
Keyboard works on the old 13.0 installation, on bios and also in the boot options of 13.1 installation cd.
I've tried removing legacy usb support and changing usb2.0 speed from high to full. Nothing changed.
Anybody with this strange problem? (kernel of setup seems also to detect it correctly as a trust keyboard).
When I use the down arrow on my new keyboard it also does and enter key as well. When I use the left and right arrow keys and hold them it doesn't keep going. It just clicks once and I have to pressing it over and over again. Any one know the correct settings to setup my keyboard? It's a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard.

We are in the process of integrating openldap into our application and existing AD used is MSAD. We would like to access the users created in openldap in our application(Java code) and then autheticate them against the details in AD(openldap). We are using Spring LDAP connection for fetching openldap connections. We have the following code with MSAD:

this works because MSAD user objectclass has an attribute 'distinguishedName' to get the user DN. There is no such provision in openldap or is there anyother way to retrieve the DN in openldap ?
The question is simple. I had a FAT external pendrive with some thing of it, and I've stupidly shift-del eted 2 folders that now i needed. Could be possible to retrieve the deleted files?

So i thought i will load ubuntu instead then try and recover my data - bad move. Now my question is, can I still retrieve the windows data of the hard drive despite having Ubuntu installed on the same drive? I know on windows there is an app called File Scavenger that recovers deleted files even after loading a clean slate of Windows on it. Is there something like that for Linux? I had photos on it that has some real sentimental value. The rest of the data I dont care about. Just the photos. I didnt think before I reloaded it.

Luckily I had done nothing with it ....have just connected the disk to my system I can see everything above(should that be below) home but not anything in his account. Any bright ideas for getting at his data is there a way of mass changing permissions or whatever?

When new messages come into the inbox, I get a message "Unable to retrieve message" in the lower screenI can work around it by clicking on the first folder under Inbox and then back to Inbox. When I click to the subfolder I have a message at the bottom that says "Error while Storing folder 'Inbox'".It would be nice if it simply worked the first time. It feels like it thinks there are two or more folders that might be "Inbox".

I installed the package just as the readme said including all the dependencies. I cant really figure out how to run it, i searched for how to use it and found this : Example use that retrieves and prints your last run information

I am looking for a program to help me store, organise and retrieve information. The aim would be to keep notes from literature, concepts and ideas which i come across during my studies. It's always a hassle to retrieve this information when i have to write a paper for instance. So in fact what i need is a sort of wikipedia-like program where information is searchable and where perhaps hyperlinks could lead me from one word/note to another.

The other day I wanted to pass it to my friend to use the connection but I couldn't find the saved password. So I checked some forums and I realized it should be possible to find the saved passwords under Systerm > Preferences > Passwords and encryption keys. Although I can only see one of my saved passwords, the other one is missing.
