Slackware :: XFCE Keyboard Shortcuts Don't Work (-current)?

Mar 16, 2011

I'm using -current (xfce-4.6.2) I've noticed that the shortcuts I define aren't working anymore. The ones I define through windowmanager -> keyboard are ok, but the ones through keyboard-> application shortcuts are ignored.

Slackware :: Xfce Keyboard Shortcuts - Not Set Up At Login With 13.1

Jul 5, 2010

Starting with Slackware 13.1, I am having trouble with keyboard application shortcuts in Xfce. Most of the time, they are not set up at login, for example Alt+F2 for Run prompt, and some custom ones. The fix each time is to kill the xfce4-settings-helper process, which somehow automatically restarts, and the keyboard shortcuts all work after that. But this is annoying.

Has anyone else seen this? I found this bug report which seems to match this problem. But there is no fix, and the bug report goes back to Aug 2009. [url]

I'm pretty sure Slackware 13.0 has the exact same version Xfce-4.6.1 but I never saw this problem under 13.0.

Slackware :: XFCE Keyboard Shortcuts Stop Working

May 22, 2010

I'm running XFCE on slackware64-current. I've had this problem for a number of months now. Every so often, XFCE will decide to not recognize key combinations that are mapped to keyboard shortcuts. For example, hitting ALT+F2 will not bring up the xfrun4 dialog box. This happens to all of my keyboard shortcuts (e.g., volume keys).

For now, I've resorted to going into the keyboard shortcut settings and double-clicking on each assignment and then hitting ok. This seems to correct whatever corruption is occurring. What's even more unusual is that all of the settings appear to be intact in the settings box and even in the .xml file.

Code:

I cannot do Alt+left Arrow to go back in Nautilus or in Iceweasel. Alt+home (in Iceweasel) does not work.

Why won't they work anymore? They only work with the dvorak keybindings.

3. Now I'm on the "classic" ubuntu desktop. It didn't happen before upgrade..

General :: Keyboard Shortcuts Only Work After Clicking On The Desktop?

Jul 6, 2010

I've started using the keyboard shortcuts in Linux Mint with the Gnome desktop, and I've found that they don't work unless I first click on the desktop with the mouse.

The problem occurs if I start with no application windows open, then open a single application, and later close it leaving an empty desktop. If any other app windows are open the keyboard shortcuts still work. But if there are no other windows open the shortcuts fail to work until I click on the desktop. It's as though the system fails to return the input focus to the desktop when the last remaining app window is closed.

I'm trying to install slackware 32 bit 13.1.After loading kernel it asks for keyboard configuration, but keyboard (usb wireless) doesn't work.

Keyboard works on the old 13.0 installation, on bios and also in the boot options of 13.1 installation cd.

I've tried removing legacy usb support and changing usb2.0 speed from high to full. Nothing changed.

Anybody with this strange problem? (kernel of setup seems also to detect it correctly as a trust keyboard).

Fedora :: "Keyboard Shortcuts" Don't Always Work?

Mar 12, 2009

I have been experiencing some problems with the Keyboard shortcuts in GNOME (Fedora 10 x86_64).The thing is that SOMETIMES it would seem the daemon (or necessary program) to make the keyboard shortcuts work is not loaded when I log in. What happens is that I realize the shortcuts are not working (volume, mute), but AFTER I get in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" window (System -> Preferences -> Personal) something else seems to load in the background (the desktop panels reload themselves) and then the shortcuts work again. To me it seems that some program has to be added to the "Sessions" list of start up programs, so GNOME does not forget to load it from time to time, but I don't know which one.
