View 9 Replies View Related(Not too tech savvy here.) With Ubuntu 10.04.1, I'm trying to download a mix of photos and videos from my little Panasonic camera. When I download, F spot comes on and downloads, but I can't play the videos; can only look at the photos.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEverything worked fine until yesterday, but now when I open Firefox and I try to load a video, I simply get the black video. It's like it is loading but nothing appear and nothing happens! The page is loaded but the video is not shown
I changed anything, I tried to "reinstall" the .so flash plugin... but no luck :S
I also tried to start firefox from command line to see if there's something wrong but nothing...
It's like the loading time for the flash video is infinite.
yesterday i upgraded my ubuntu to 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx, and today i faced with a problem watching videos on the Internet. i already tried reinstalling the Adobe Flash Player i have in many ways... nothing helped and i actually think it isn't even related to the flash player... what can it be, and how can it be fixed?

We're sorry but we're unable to stream videos to your system. This may be due to an Adobe Software limitation on 64-bit Linux systems. I try to support this 64-bit stuff but it keeps biting me in the butt.
I have installed the Microsoft Power Point Viewer 2010, but it will not read any files. gives a generic 'there was an error accessing file.pptx'
If i am albe to get it to work i will be able to use linux for the 30 laptops we use for our presentations, which is good because windows is giving us some performance problems.
the powerpoint file in question was created in 2010 and has embedded videos in it. Openoffice and LibreOffice do not seem to be able to display the slides right, let alone the videos.
I want to hopefully get the viewer working, or i will have to just remake the powerpoint in odf
I'm having a bit of trouble with playback of a few types of videos and I think I should be able to do this with the hardware I'm not what I would call a power user in Ubuntu so you may have to bear with me. =)
Here's what I'm working with:
CPU: Intel P4 3.40 Ghz
Memory: 3023 MB generally running about 90% free
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 7300GT, 512 MB 350 MHz, driver version 260.19.06
Display: Outputting to an old CRT TV via S-Video cable at 1024x768
I've just moved to Maverick today, I had these same problems with Lucid plus some others that seem to have been resolved in that upgrade. I've tried these files on VLC 1.1.5 and Totem Movie Player 2.32.0 (using GStreamer 0.10.30) and I get the same results in each player.
Here are the details on two files I get this with, and what I see when I try to play them: SYMPTOM: Video seems okay, audio is basically missing - maybe the odd blip but by and large, nothing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having difficulties booting into my Wubi 10.04 install on my computer. I've been using this install for at least 6 months now with minimal problems, but this one is serious enough to make me have to use my old Microsoft Vista install (which is no fun because it's, well, Vista). But anyway, to the problem:I got on my computer this morning and turned it on. It came up like normal showing the logo DELL as the BIOS (I believe revision A12 if it matters at all) boots up and then goes to the Windows GRUB menu. From there, like normal it shows two options: Windows Vista and Ubuntu. And from there I selected Ubuntu. Like normal it has a few small command-line things it goes through, but then it does one that I've never seen before and goes so fast I wasn't quite able to read it, and then the screen stops and restarts from the beginning.
Normally, after this it would bring up the GRUB menu showing the various kernels that are installed for Ubuntu. There, I would select the latest kernel and continue on to the Ubuntu login screen where I would login and there I'd be on Ubuntu. This might be because yesterday I did some system updates on Ubuntu and it wanted a restart (it said "Restart Required" and the power button on the screen was red). But, instead I just delayed the restart and eventually just Shut Down the computer that night, thinking the Shut Down might render the same thing.I'm hoping I can at least go back and recover the files I had on Ubuntu. Not that any were really important, but I'd kinda want them back regardless. If this is impossible, what should I do to get back at using Ubuntu again? Should I try to partition my harddrive? Should I reinstall Wubi? Or should I even just try to fix whatever is broken that prohibits me getting on to Ubuntu?
From the first look it seems that Gnome is constantly loading something: mouse is always busy. After you open a window, there is no minimize or close buttons and newly opened window (any program) is always in left top corner position. I havent done much with my system lately so I dont know where it come from. After rebooted was the same, then I installed auto updates and after next reboot network manager was not loaded. After logout, in login screen, the same story, mouse is still loading.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Gateway laptop currently running Win Vista Home Basic. I have grown tired of repeatedly reinstalling this OS so I thought I would give Ubuntu a shot. The laptop is running a 1.6 GHz Celeron, 1470 MB of RAM, and has an 80 Gig hard drive. My problem is that I cannot get Ubuntu to load/install. I cannot run it from CD, I cannot setup as dual boot, and I cannot setup as a standalone. I am not worried about wiping out my Vista, as I said I have grown tired of it. OH and I cannot locate my Vista install disk at this time either.
