I'm running 10.04, and I was wondering if there was way to switch the taskbars on the top/bottom or even edit whats on which taskbar, or move to the sides etc? I have the Gnome desktop included with 10.04.

I was trying to switch the menu tool bar from the top to the bottom which I successfully done, however the tutorial that I followed first said to right click and delete the lower tool bar. I thought the tutorial would eventually give the instructions to recreate the open window/page tabs in the top of screen but it doesn't. Now each open page overlap each other so I have to collapse each page to see what id below each one.
Firefox is fine, its just when opening up multiple programmes on the desktop.
I'm fine with the 'Terminal' if there's some code to recover this area.
OK this is a simple question I feel stupid asking it but. How do I in Compiz Fusion Switch to the top and bottom caps? I have them enabled I just dont know the commands I understand how to move left and right Not that it probably matters but I'm running Fedora 12
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo about an hour ago I put my computer on standby. For whatever reason I couldn't bring it back so I restarted it. It works fine except now Ubuntu has pushed my display down. This means that the bottom of my tool-bar on the bottom of the screen is cut off, and there's a black bar on the top. I'm using a T.V. screen so there is no way I can manually adjust it. I also plugged my desktop back into an old monitor and it was off-center downward too.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using it for the last 2 weeks or so without any troubles. Today I did an update and upon rebooting I have had a major issue. The wallpaper loads, but no taskbars. At the same time i'm prompted to agree or to not agree with the Skype End User License Agreement. Those are the only things on the screen! The wallpaper and Skype agreement. Also the mouse pointer is now an X.

I've been looking around online, trying to find out how to configure multiple desktops to have their own taskbar.Most of my results suggest that I should be able to click on the menu, choose favorites, and go to Configure Desktop. In the new window, I should see a taskbar section on the left hand side?I am running OpenSUSE 11.2 on two machines and neither of them have this option. but on my system its showing unknown for monitor company & the resolution 900 X 600 (16:10).
on my friend system the resolution is 1024 X 768(4:3). but on my system the max resolution is only 900 X 600 (16:10).
problem, I have just installed Fedora 13 on to a new build but for some reason I am missing the top and bottom taskbars. I can see the GNOME desktop with two icons, I have managed to get yum running, which is currently downloading updates. I have used the same live CD on other systems with incident.Just wondering if there is some thing I could try to reset or start a service setting etc to get the taskbars to show?

I am using a Fling KVM switch (by Belkin), to connect 2 computers to my monitor One computer is running XP and the other is running Linux. My wireless switching mechanism has just gone the way of the saints but Belkin has supplied a software solution for this occurrence. There is a small app called Fling (surprising) that allows me to switch from the XP machine to the Linux machine but nothing to switch back to the XP. What I need to know is there a similar app for the Linux computer. (NB I have tried Synergy but have no idea how to set it up - I've been told that synergy might work).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been running Xubuntu for the past month or two on my Acer Aspire One netbook with very few problems, and generally I've been happy. But this morning, I went to boot up my netbook to check my email and when it booted, I got to my desktop, but the bars at the top and bottom of the desktop are missing. I thought at first that it was hanging during the loading of Xubuntu and that there was a serious problem at hand that might've demanded a reinstall of Xubuntu, but upon further study once I got back to my campus, I discovered that the bars have simply disappeared and that everything else runs fine. When I try to click "Panel" in "Settings", which I'm assuming is where I'd adjust settings for said bars, nothing comes up.
As I think about it, it doesn't seem like a major problem, considering everything else still seems to function fine, but I would like to have them back again.
Just installed Ubuntu.I right-clicked the bar on the bottom right where the 4 screens were and picked properties, it gave me an error and now there is nothing on the bar but the trash can. No programs and no multiple screens.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've only been using Ubuntu for a few months, a good friend turned me on to it and I definitely like it better than any version of Windows out there, but I'm definitely still learning about it.
I may have clicked on something, but my bottom tool bar totally disappeared and I'm not sure how to get it back. Before it disappeared, none of the windows I had opened were showing up on it either.
To reiterate, I'm not sure what I clicked on to make it disappear, for the most part it just did... :-/
I was using the 9.10 distro and just upgraded to the 10.04 distro. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it either.

Happens pretty regularly, but for example, a moment ago, I was trying to switch to Google Public DNS, in the network preferences, have to click apply/ok but cannot do so as the menu box is larger than the screen. Is there a way to scroll down or make the window smaller so that I can click buttons outside standard screen.

With both installs, there were no top or bottom Gnome panels when I started up so I could not access the programs, make changes, etc. A message appeared asking if I wanted to delete the aplets (or panel?) the first time I started it up. I answered yes with the regular CD and no with the alternative, but did not see the massage again.

There are no errors in the error console.Java is working on my web browser (mozilla firefox).I'm running Ubuntu 10.10.Here's my code, the program is for my friend and she uses a mac, so is this issue specific for Ubuntu? I made the applet using Eclipse Ganymede.
