Ubuntu :: Deleted Something From Task Bar At Bottom?
Aug 22, 2010
I messed up and deleted some task bar thing from the bottom bar. I do not know how to get it back, but I want it back because I can't do anything with it like this. Here is a picture of what I see.
This is strange a fresh install of 10.04 Lynx when i first logged in everything was cool, then i right clicked on the 4 desktop switching boxes on the bottom right corner; then the bar blipped off.Now after i re-login the bar is at the bottom but does nothing. When i open windows or anything they are not showing up, the only way I can navigate through my windows if Alt+Tab
I have an issue with my task bars. My task bar that shows my active applications is on the bottom, the expand is disabled and auto hide is enabled. The task bar that has Applications, System, Places, and so on is on the top with the same preference settings. However every time I restart my system both task bars are at the top.
I usually use the default KDE desktop with a few changes. I deleted the bar the bottom of screen. I can't get those setting right. There's no undo function. I was able to recreate some things. I can't get the icons into right position. Also, I can't get the display for all programs or get the right wigits running . I need someone to walk me through it. Else, I'll just reinstall suse(11.3)
I was trying to move a Alsamixer shortcut icon I made to the task bar and I accidentally deleted the speaker volume icon and internet icon.how do I get them back?
While screwing around with my settings trying to get 11.3 setup the way I wanted it, I accidentally removed the portion of the bottom panel which displayed the titles for all the current open windows....and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it back. Can anyone tell me how to add it again? I'm sure its something incredible simple, but I haven't been able to find it
After upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04 all of a sudden, the task manager or task bar, keeps changing length. The individual window "buttons" themselves keep changing size - flashing even, and the space between them also changes. It is driving me nuts! The little system tray(?) icons no longer appear in the system tray, but all stacked on top of each other in the top left corner.
So about an hour ago I put my computer on standby. For whatever reason I couldn't bring it back so I restarted it. It works fine except now Ubuntu has pushed my display down. This means that the bottom of my tool-bar on the bottom of the screen is cut off, and there's a black bar on the top. I'm using a T.V. screen so there is no way I can manually adjust it. I also plugged my desktop back into an old monitor and it was off-center downward too.
Anybody knows how to fix overlapping tasks in KDE system taskbar? Here System Monitor overlaps with digiKamWorkaround to rearrange icons - start any new task.Sorry for taking real photo of the screen. When I do PrintScreen KSnapShot task appears in the list and makes all task to rearrange. The resulting screenshot contains already fixed view.
How do you launch a task from a terminal command line interface and it not be kill'ed if you close the terminal window. Like if I run jedit I type jedit & which launches jedit as a backgorund task. But, if I close terminal window, jedit dies to. How do I laucnch jedit and completely divorce it from the terminal task?
I have my task list in evolution (mainly so it can sync with my phone and online task list) but I always forget to look at the task list. Is there an application or plugin which periodically displays the contents of the tasklist or even better, it briefly displays the most urgent/important tasks when I login? Or anything else which automatically displays the most important tasks. Currently I have to open the task list and look at them (which I usually forget). I do not mean some kind of alarm when the task is due but more a daily reminder of what to do.
I searched the forum with various terms and didn't find anything, so my apologies if this is a common and/or newbie problem. It seems that when I have a USB driveplugged in to switch the files around, those that I delete are still taking up space. I first noticed it with a Chinese MP3 player and thought it was the player being crappy. I could still play all the songs that were supposedly gone. Today, I noticed it with a little thumb drive that I've had for years. I plugged it into my husband's computer running winXP, and the files showed up in a weird, unusable form. I was able to delete them for real.
For some reason randomly my task bar messes up for some reason. Im not sure if many other people have this. but ill provide a picture so you can see it. Some times its even worse, like i get a double account name and double of everything else.
I don't know what I have done this time, but on my desktop I have the cube effect, which is working fine. But now when I minimize a page it goes to the opposite end of the taskbar instead of to the workspaces I have.Using Ubuntu 10.04. Not sure if I have explained this properly. Also when I flip the cube to a clean desktop and open a new browser, it doesn't open on that side of cube , but reverts to original workspace and opens in a new tab there.
I have seen several screen shots of Linux and Ubuntu with the bar on the bottom like Mac OS-X. I would like to have this, but still be able to customize the rest of the theme. Is there somewhere you can download this, or what?
i know that emerald changes the window borders. how exactly do i go about changing the scroll bar, task bar, etc. i know metacity generally controls this but my fusion icon is set to compiz by default and when i switch it to metacity emerald no longer works. should i be looking for compiz themes instead of metacity themes to change my task bar and scroll bar and if so how do i install them?
I'm fairly new to the Ubuntu world but have been simply amazed by what it can do. Someone told me to install Mac4Lin after I was done and I've done that. The desktop looks a lot more like a Mac especially after installing AWN. I do have a bit of a problem and would be very grateful for any assistance here. My taskbar is set to a background pattern which gives it the OSX look. However, towards the left side where the menu's reside, there is a bit which does not show the background pattern and instead has a dull grey color. I've been searching around for where I can tweak that bit to also have the the same pattern as the taskbar but have had no luck. Attached is a screenshot.
Because the on/off switch vanished from my task bar, I managed to delete it. It did warn me. Anyway, I can't get it back and I don't know where anything is. I have a second user account but Ctl+Alt+Del doesn't even give me a logout option! Bad. ubuntu version 10.04
I have used the Ubuntu 10.04 and I had installed the software to change the boot screen of the OS. The tool is ply mouth and now after installing it I am not able to get the task bar and even select any of the menu options
Is there a way to add lxterminal to the LXDE task bar?I noticed that it was not listed as a selection under Add/Remove Panel Items and when clicking Add, the "plugins" listed do not include this.I previously used LXDE with Mandriva and their implementation included it on the Task Bar.
I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 the other day and learned a lot about it. One thing I noticed quickly is that, the applications to not show up in the task bar, so I have to switch from one to another via ATL+Tab.Many times I accidentally open another thing of Firefox and have two of the same thing open. How do I get it show you can see which apps you have open in the task bar?
