View 1 Replieshow to remove some email addresses from the auto-completion list which appears when starting to enter a new mail address into the "to:" field. Since I'm using Evolution for several years now there are a lot of e-mail addresses which are either obsolete or simply incorrect.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAn upgrade wiped my Evolution settings, and then my backup hard drive failed spectacularly. I have the Addressbook.db file but nothing else from the original setup. I am OK with losing the emails because they are all on line. But, can I "reinstall" the original address book into the now recovered and upgraded Evolution programme? I tried to just copy the .db file into the .evolution folder, replacing the addressbook.db file created by installing Evolution but could not see my old address book when I opened Evolution. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it not that simple and I need other files to recreate the address book (I do have the addressbook summary.db file and copied that into Evolution too).

I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I use Evolution mail and use 2 PCs When I send mail it saves it to my current PC but not to the other PC so instead i want it to save the sent to the email server i'm using.

Is there a way to get Evolution to check mail and chat with a standard Yahoo (or Hotmail for that fact) account, without having to pay for the plus service?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Fedora 14, which has Evolution 2.32.1 but have recently also installed openSUSE 11.3, which has Evolution 2.30.1.2. I would like to make openSUSE my primary distribution, and so I would like to restore my Evolution settings from Fedora, but Evolution complains that the backup file is invalid. I have tried copying the folders in the backup to their appropriate locations in openSUSE with no luck. I have also tried manually copying with instructions for older versions of openSUSE, but with no luck.
An obvious guess at what might be the problem seems to be that I am trying to restore settings from a newer version to an older version? An obvious thing to try would be to upgrade to Evolution 2.32, but Evolution has a long list of dependencies so before jumping into that fun I thought I would ask if anyone else has had similar problems and found a straight-forward solution. I still have access to my emails in Fedora so this is not hugely pressing, and if upgrading to 11.4 will do the trick then I can just wait for that.
After running Pine remotely to view some mail on the server, I can no longer access those emails remotely with Evolution or Outlook Express. I know the mail is still there on the server someplace, because it still appears in Pine's "INBOX" folder. But that is clearly not the same as the "Inbox" folder for that account which appears in Evolution and Outlook Express, which is now empty. How can I configure Evolution to re-access those emails?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a simple question that I can't find the answer so far, I use Evolution email client witch is great, the only problem is that the client does not save previous email addresses so I have to enter them manually each time.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a feeling this is going to be something no one cares about enough to have bothered with, however, just in case someone else got frustrated enough to figure this out I thought I would ask.I have an associate I send and receive a lot of email with. They have one email they use rarely (once a month) and another they use all the time. The problem is that evolution always shows the one they use rarely first.
That is, when I partially type in their name in the "to" field those two email addresses will list in a drop down. I would like to either remove the rarely used email address from the list or have evolution list from most recently used (like "The Bat!" does, a Windows email client I use) instead of however it does it now, presumably it's just in alphabetical order.Right now about 20% of my emails go to this other email address because I'm busy, in a hurry, tired or whatever and just forget that it defaults to the wrong one all the time and it's caused the occasional problem.
After reinstalling with Kubuntu 10.04 my e-mail addresses stored in Kontact don't show up in the list of e-mail addresses when choosing addresses in a new e-mail. When I open my addressbook I can see all addresses.
View 2 Replies View Relatedpossible to use a gpg key registered on a different email account than the account I have linked to evolution. Do I have to change an actual file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two nagging problems on one network which I do not have on another elsewhere, both using uptodate Debian servers. The server is on the private subnet behind a router/adsl modem. The symptoms of the one which does not work
1) Users cannot access their web site from lan. If they try, they get to the router web interface, same as if they entered http:10.0.0.138 which is the router's lan address.
2) Users cannot access smtp or pop3 service using the domain name, they can access it only using the servers LAN address.
I fear that I might have not set up the router properly because appart from that the two servers are almost identical but I do not know where I might have made an error.
I have a sendmail alias configured to forward mails to pagers and it was working fine . The mail relays suddenly start converting a mail address of pager into a normal mail(outlook) format address. Say , instead of forwarding a mail to [URL] Provided no configuration inside the mail directory was changed.Which file is responsible in converting the mail-addresses? Is there any other problem with my mail-setup?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is the current setup that we have: We have approx 20 clients who pay us to send out a type of e-mail called an E-Blast to their customers. We currently are using 5 Microsoft Windows Virtual Servers to do this. The problem is that those machines are starting to break down. There are times that it will take Microsoft Windows approx 9-10 hours to complete 1 job. This is way too long. We want to move away from Microsoft Windows for this particular type of job as it seems there are more customers who are wanting to use this type of advertising.
It seems that using a Linux Server "Command Line or Shell" environment would be the best way to go as there is no GUI like Windows. Since there is just text...that is something that would/should process very, very quickly.
I am in the process of setting up a new SMTP outbound mail server. This is the current software & configuration (what is installed on this new machine):
All of the customer data (Names, E-Mail Addresses, etc that these e-mails are going to) are currently loaded in a Microsoft SQL Database.
My machine that I am using is plugged into the DMZ. I have 1 ip address for the 1 network card. I have also added/bound 4 more ip addresses to that network card.
I have configured Postfix for Multiple IP Addresses.
I can, from the command line, send successful test e-mails and receive them in my personal account.
As far as I know everything is setup correctly. I can and will post requested information so that it can be verified that everything is setup correctly.
Here are a couple of my questions:
Ensure that I have my Network / Interfaces file and my Postfix's Master.cf/Main.cf files setup correctly?
How can I setup this server to be an Outbound SMTP server and get it to use all 5 of the IP Addresses to send these e-mails quickly?
What can I use to check and ensure that this server is in fact sending out emails on all 5 IP
Addresses (I heard that there is a program named "Postal" that may help in determing this).
Mail going to invalid email addresses are being forwarded to postmaster@domain instead of being bounced. How can I fix this? postconf -d | grep mail_version gives the following: mail_version = 2.2.5
View 4 Replies View RelatedI built a new PC and copied my old .evolution folder into my home directory which brought back all my mail and filters. I just did a 'check mail' as apparently the auto check wasn't working overnight and it grabbed 85 messages and moved them straight to the Junk folder. I went to Junk, selected all, then did Apply Filters and it did move the messages matching filters to their appropriatelocations. ny ideas on why Junk has become the default location for message delivery and the filters aren't being processed on delivery

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is to request assistance or information as to why the evolution application will not accept the evolution-backup-tar.gz file from a previous version.
Situation: I upgraded by way of a fresh install from openSuSE 11.2 to 11.3 (GNOME desktop).
Before upgrading, I produced the above mentioned backup file so that I could import all the mail, addresses etc. into the new application.
Result: it does not work. The process starts up seemingly normal but then simply sits there forever with the message "evolution shuts down" - but it does'nt. I have to kill it to stop it.
I am looking forward to a resolution since it would be a real pity if I lost the mail history.
I have a laptop fujitsu siemens amilo pi 1505 for about a year there was ubuntu 8.10 installed on it and everything worked fine. 3 days ago i upgraded it to 9.10 and there where the problems began. Sound crashed OS couldn't find sound card. I've removed alsa, pulse audio completly and sound came back. After about 5-15 min's icons dissappeared from the desktop and i had to restart. From then every time i start after booting i see that:
[URL]
and if i change kernel:
[URL]
though anything i do there in this window makes no difference whatsoever. So then can I somehow restore graphic settings from the terminal? Or repair/restore basic settings of ubuntu without loosing data?
I was playing around with compiz too much and kinda messed up some stuff. Is there anyway I can just go back to how stuff was? Without system restore, I don't know of a way I can restore my previous compiz settings.
