I'm using the mail command and I am able to send mail to my gmail account with out any problems. However when I send mail to deco -at- mycompany.com I nothing happens and no mail ever arrives in my mailbox. It might be worth mentioned that my centos5 is a virtual machine on the same server as the company exchange mail server.
I'd like to have anything that tries to send mail locally on my machine (including crontab reports for instance) to be handled by my ISP's smtp server instead of my machine acting like it's own SMTP server. I've spent around 15 hours trying to figure out how to do this and I keep either getting into things that I don't understand, or hitting brick walls (for instance, I found nullmailer, but after installing it, it seemed like it would only work on Unix) Is there an application like nullmailer which I can use as my MTA to forward all internal mail to a different SMTP?
i have centos 5.5 and qmail installed in it this qmail is used for internal mail , we are not send mail from internal to external ids i.e gmail, yahoo etc, this qmail intalled on 192.x.x.x ip server this ip is not live ip but my problem is that from few days mail are sending from internal to external like indiatimes ,yahoo etc
I have sendmail setup and it works fine sending emails to outside email addresses. When I try and send email to our internal groupwise server the mail never gets there and I get an error message in the log user unknown.
I come from more of a programming background but have been giving the task of sending backup results from a linux box in an email to external email addresses, I have spent days looking trough google for info but cant seem to find anything simple, I have looked at postfix but because I don't understand networks, hosts, nameservers etc. What I need to do to allow mail get sent from the linux box to external mail address. I have outlook connected to an exchange server on windows and I can ping the linux box from my windows command so surely it cant be to much involved.
I have two servers relavant here: mail.domain.com (1.1.1.1) - which is the nameserver and the mail server for domain.com. www.domain.com (2.2.2.2) - which is the www subdomain for domain.com domain.com (cname www.domain.com) - an alias for www.
The zone file for domain.com lists mail.domain.com as the MX server for domain.com. 2.2.2.2 is actually being served web pages as a virtual host. It's real hostname is www.anotherdomain.com. Mail for domain.com works pretty well, in general. However, if I attempt to send mail from www.domain.com (or its alias domain.com), I get "mail for domain.com loops back to myself" in the postfix logs. On 2.2.2.2 /etc/postfix/mail.cf has mydestination = www.anotherdomain.com, localhost. How do I tell postfix on 2.2.2.2 that mail for domain.com needs to be delivered to mail.domain.com?
in Lucid ive been trying to get the mail applet to light up green by sending myself mail. Does this applet only light up when IMs r received or does this also work with evolution and if so what might i have done wrong in evolution, ive tried it with evolution open and evolution closed.
I ran mail (aka mailx) and opened an account foo. If I remain inside the program, the command 'account foo' prints the account data. Good. But if I exit the program, and rerun it, then the command 'account' has no output which is to say I have no account.
We have connected two systems with ethernet cables and have configured the two systems with ipv6 addresses. The IP of one system is 2001:0db8:0:f101::1 (let's say X::1) (This system runs OS Fedora 10) and the other is 2001:0db8:0:f101::2. (Let's say X::2) (This system runs OpenSuSE 10.3) We are able to ping from both systems to the other. We are able to ssh into the one with IP X::2 from the one with IP X::1, but not vice versa.
We have disabled iptables on both systems by using the following commands: /etc/init.d/iptables save /etc/init.d/iptables stop on the fedora 10 system and # iptables -X # iptables -t nat -F # iptables -t nat -X # iptables -t mangle -F # iptables -t mangle -X # iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT # iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT # iptables -P OUTPUT ACCEPT on the openSuse system.
The error we get in trying to ssh from the openSuse system to the fedora system is: ssh: connect to host 2001:0db8:0:f101::1 port 22: Connection refused
We're trying to write server and client code to send data from one system to the other using SOCK_DGRAM. The code works fine when we run both the client and server on the same system. However, we are not able to send data from one system to another when we use the IPv6 addresses to run the client and server programs.
The error we get is: sendto(): Operation not permitted
The codes we are using for the server and client programs can be found here in beej's guide here : [URL]. We've only substituted the appropriate addresses in the right places... We've disabled the iptables...
I'm am not remotely familiar with the linux operating sytem and just need a simple 'cut and paste solution' that will allow me to send .gz files as mail attachments, from the command line.Recently I moved my website to new hosting company, they are using cpanel and I have set up a couple of commands; the cpanel scheduler runs them for me as required.
1.creates an mysql dump and saves it to folder ( in root of my space )Works fine.2. delete the file created above, after 15 mins. Also works fineWhat I really want to do is email the .gz to myself before it is deleted, this is were I am stuck. This is possible ( I believe ) but it is beyond my understanding and ability to write the scipt/command that will make this happen. Please make any instructions really simple and clear as I am really new to this.on the server and this information is provided below and may be helpful to you (but I certainly to not know anything about this type of stuff)
Two exchange servers internally. One is setup for example.com (192.168.1.10) and the other is setup for example2.com (192.168.1.20) Both are behind a single public IP.
I want to use postfix to sit in front of the two exchange servers. Postfix will accept mail for both domains and relay to the appropriate server. I have postfix installed with only defaults at this point.
I am tired of managing local Address Books and Calendars. I use either POP or IMAP email accounts now and want to keep the email accounts I have. What is a good Mail Server I can setup to Let me use a Global Address Book and Shared Calendar System between Outlook 2003 and Evolution, but not create email accounts? In Other words I want a Local Server I can setup that does nothing but manage a Global Address Book and Calendars. I want to keep using POP and IMAP accounts for the email side of things.
Send an E-mail to your local account. Try two different ways to send and read it. How can you check that it really arrived? I decided to try using the 'mail' and 'pine' commands. So:
1) Using the root account, intending to send an e-mail to myself (root):
Code:
# mail -s "Hello root!" root Simple form of sending e-mails internally. ^D (this keystroke is to finish the e-mail) EOT
2) Using 'pine', another e-mail client: The mail is composed correctly, with 'To:' field set to:
Quote:
[URL]
which is my hostname, as my box runs in a VMWare Slack 12.2 image. In both cases, nothing was received in my mailbox (by typing #mail)... Additionally I don't see any new e-mails when I look at the file '/var/spool/mail/root'. Do I need extra information configuring my mail client/server/service?

I'm in the process of setting up a script in perl to make 1,000's of curl calls to my companies application on our test server. Our software does all sorts of tracking of data based on IP addresses using geoIP, so i was wondering if anyone knew of a way to fake these addresses to the server?I know a big issue with the IP faking is the return path but i dont really need this. I also cant do it on the hardware level since the script is going to be picking lots of different IP's at random.Anyone have any idea if this is possible and if so, are there any known libraries i can use for this? I prefer perl but any Linux compatiblie scripting language is fine.
I am trying to configure my IPv6 network. My computers are behind a Fedora gateway IPv6-configured, which is working great. But for computers inside my network, it seems I am getting only internal addresses from DHCP. Here is my ifconfig for an internal computer:
One of our postfix servers is for sending/receiving internal emails only. When a user entered a wrong recipient address, it will take almost an hour for the user to get the "Recipient address rejected" email. What can be done to let the user get the "Recipient address rejected" email quickier.
After reinstalling with Kubuntu 10.04 my e-mail addresses stored in Kontact don't show up in the list of e-mail addresses when choosing addresses in a new e-mail. When I open my addressbook I can see all addresses.
possible to use a gpg key registered on a different email account than the account I have linked to evolution. As is now, I have entered the key id into evolution, but it does not decrypt my mails. It does not even ask for a password.simply opens the message and displays a page of code.
assist me in using the iptables firewall to block all incoming mail traffic (SMTP port 25) except that of a certain IP(s)? the situation is that we have a server that we only want to receive mail from a particular sender.
I have two nagging problems on one network which I do not have on another elsewhere, both using uptodate Debian servers. The server is on the private subnet behind a router/adsl modem. The symptoms of the one which does not work
1) Users cannot access their web site from lan. If they try, they get to the router web interface, same as if they entered http:10.0.0.138 which is the router's lan address.
2) Users cannot access smtp or pop3 service using the domain name, they can access it only using the servers LAN address.
I fear that I might have not set up the router properly because appart from that the two servers are almost identical but I do not know where I might have made an error.
I have a sendmail alias configured to forward mails to pagers and it was working fine . The mail relays suddenly start converting a mail address of pager into a normal mail(outlook) format address. Say , instead of forwarding a mail to [URL] Provided no configuration inside the mail directory was changed.Which file is responsible in converting the mail-addresses? Is there any other problem with my mail-setup?
how to remove some email addresses from the auto-completion list which appears when starting to enter a new mail address into the "to:" field. Since I'm using Evolution for several years now there are a lot of e-mail addresses which are either obsolete or simply incorrect.
l to a group in Linux? for example, I want to send a notification mail to 20 people and I want to create a group of these 20 people and want to send them the notification
I want to send mail to potential customers from my localhost server in my SOHO. I have a web site hosted with a company called geek hosting [URL], so I have access to the mail services through them... I want to their mail server to push things out to the world form my localhost server.
I do have a registered domain name which the hosted site runs under
the domain name for my centos 5.4 server is localhosthost.localdomain.
I am very new to CentOS and running a server in general. I managed to get a server setup with CentOS, and it's running a wordpress driven social networking site. Everything is fine except sometimes my server won't send registration/activation emails to some email addresses. This is a huge problem because people signup but then can't activate their account. I don't understand why its sending some and not sending others based on the email domain? The guys at wordpress said "it's that your server does not support SMTP or at least wp_mail() in its normal form" but that doesn't mean much to me.
