Ubuntu :: Mouse X-speed On Dual Monitor?

Mar 6, 2010

I'm using two monitors, they're virtually placed next to each other so the virtual screen resolution is (1024+1280) x 800px. Now my mouse speed on the x-axis is automatically set higher, which is good if you permanently switch between both monitors all the time. But I don't need it, so how do I turn it off? It's kinda annoying if you're used to your "normal" mouse speed.Y-axis speed is still fine. also, is there a way do display the gnome-do dock on the right handed monitor? it places itself always on the left monitor....I'm using Mint 8 which is Ubuntu 9.10 with gnome 2.28.1

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Nvidia 19.29-22.1 Suse 11.3 Dual Monitor Mouse Flickers When Moved To 2nd Monitor?

Jan 15, 2011

just setup suse 11.3 , put on the Nvidia 19.29-22.1 drivers via yast , no kms is set in inetd , nomodeset on grub boot line etc... Even tried installing the driver " the hard way " dual monitors come up, setup xinerama to "Extend" my desktop , and the main monitor ( right side ) is good, visually the left monitor (2ndary) is good.. but whenever I move my mouse over to the left screen the mouse pointer dissapears, flickers along the right hand border of that screen... and if i move the cursor back to the original screen i have to really fight to get it back to the main screen....Copy of my xorg.conf , still very basic...

Ubuntu :: Dual Monitors Mouse Speed

Dec 4, 2010

I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10 on my HP laptop with an external monitor attached. I've been having the same issue since 9.04 and just now figured I should ask about it.When I have dual monitors set up (extended desktop) the mouse speed in the X direction seems to double. ie. assume the mouse usually moves 1 pixel at a time, it now moves 2. It seems to be functioning as usual in the Y direction, which makes the motion really weird and hard to use. I'm using a Wacom tablet for the mouse, but the same happens with my laptops touch pad. Anyone else experience this/know how to fix it?

Ubuntu :: NVidia GeForce 8500 GT - Get A Speed Boost And For A Dual Monitor Setup?

Jan 12, 2011

I have the nVidia GeForce 8500 GT 512MB graphics card, I put it in my system to get a speed boost and for a dual monitor setup, I don't have the proprietary drivers installed I tried installing them, and when I did it asked for reboot, so I did, and when it came back up only one monitor was in use, and it was running very very sluggish, so I opened up the Monitors from the settings and it said to use nVidia's thing, so when I did, I enabled the second monitor, and hit apply, and it asked for a restart of Xorg, doing that came back telling me that no monitors were find, and a reboot brings me straight to tty1... I tried both the recent version and the older one, both did the same thing, I really wanna get my Compiz effects back. is there a way to get this working? I will do anything you ask if it solves the problem...

Ubuntu :: Dual Monitor Setup - Mouse Pointer Misplaced And Other Bugs?

Mar 23, 2011

Right now, I need to use a dual-monitor setup. Be it for my casual desktop usage, or to my projects and programs presentations with a slideshow. The latter is critical and that's why I'm here. So, after some Intel Drivers update, some programs started to work nicely, faster and beautifully. But it corrupted my Dual-Monitor Setup. I don't know what to say, I'm totally desperate. I had to show one of my programs to my teacher using a projector, but with the dual monitor corruption, I called in sick today. I need to use the netbook screen to make changes on the program and the second monitor/projector to show the program working.

I'll show some pictures, but I'm without a camera right now, so I'll use one china-phone that's hanging around here to take a picture. Sorry for the quality. Both Monitors, you can see on the right of the bigger one the corruption I'm talking about.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Dual-monitor Mouse Position Jumps When Moving Off-screen

Nov 4, 2010

I have a dual-screen set-up with Ubuntu 10.10. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 video card. I use my lower-resolution laptop screen on the left and a larger monitor on the right. The monitor is also physically higher than the monitor. See attachment for a screenshot.I have correctly set up my displays so that if the mouse is in the middle of the screen it can move from one screen to the other without jumping. The jumping happens when moving off of one screen in an area where the other screen is not directly next to it (some people call this 'the void').

Example: (See the attachment for a visual example of this.) My mouse is in the external monitor (right monitor). As I move the mouse to the top-left of the monitor (position 1), I by mistake go a little too far and instead of hitting the Ubuntu applications menu, I ended up at the top-right of the laptop monitor (left monitor; position 2). I quickly realize my mistake and move the mouse back to the right monitor, but now the mouse is at the middle-left position (position 3).This same error occurs by moving the mouse on the laptop monitor (left monitor) passed the bottom-right position. This is a big problem when scrolling vertical scroll bars on the laptop monitor (left monitor).I am looking for a fix that if the mouse is at position 1 in the attachment and I move the mouse left, it stays at position 1 and does not go to position 2.

Software :: Mouse Click On Monitor 1 Kills Full-screen In Flash On Monitor 2 ?

Feb 23, 2010

I'm playing with dual monitors. I have an NVIDIA GT220 set up so that my monitor and my TV are running as extended desktops. Everything is working well enough, but there is one annoying bit I've noticed:

If I'm watching ..... on monitor 1 in fullscreen and working on monitor 2, clicking anything in monitor 2 kills full-screen in monitor 1. Is this something that can be fixed somehow or is it a hardwired "feature"?

Hardware :: Dual Monitor - 2nd Monitor Not Coming Up - Xorg.conf Missing Something?

Oct 19, 2009

This is a repost of my initial problem, I need some one who knows what they are doing more than I too take a look at this command output and give some sort of direction/clue/etc on what I'm doing wrong or missing.

Is my xorg.conf missing some vital line(s) or setting?

My best guess is that i'm missing something to tell the Xserver to use both screens, as the Xorg.0.log does not talk about trying to bring up the intel display; but this is just a hunch.

I'm running kubuntu 9.04 with 2 monitors: on-board intel video and a PCI nvidia display: I am using my nvidia display fine, but still can not get my 2nd display (the intel) working. What the heck am I missing?

Just upgraded to 10.04 (x64) and found that the mouse speed for X plane is much faster than for Y plane. Tried looking in KDE mouse settings but didn't find any setting to change that. Mouse was fine before upgrade.

P.S. the "mouse" is actually a touchpad in HP Pavillion dv7.

I just upgrade to F14 from F10 on a dual montor setup. Firefox behaives differently on F14 than on F10.
On F10 it followed the mouse pointer's location and show up on the correct monitor

When maximized at close, it is always displayed on the left monitor. When not maximized at close it will open on the monitor where the mouse pointer is located.

About minimize/maximize Firefoxe before closing and it seems to work in some case, but not for me.

Ubuntu :: How To Change Mouse Scroll Speed

Jan 7, 2011

I know its possible because 2 days ago the "scroll speed" was perfect. The only thing that has changed is that I have used a different usb port for my mouse now, and I have installed a copy of windows 7 on my second HD. However, after all this, my mouse scroll speed on Ubuntu is unbearably too fast. Its almost half a page for every one "click" of the mouse scroll wheel.

Ubuntu :: Increasing Mouse Speed On Startup?

Mar 24, 2011

I have a HP Mini 311c that has an ALPS touchpad. Linux Mint detects it as a mouse and so when I try to increase the speed of the mouse, nothing actually happens. I've created a script which includes just the following code:

#!bin/bash
xset m 5 2

This is saves as startup-script.hl on my Desktop. I then go into Startup Applications and add the script in there. But when I reboot my Netbook the mouse is moving at its default slow speed. I've ensured the script file is allowed to execute (right click > properties > permissions) and have also tried copying it to the init.d folder with no luck.

One thing I have noticed though is that straight after I login to Mint the mouse cursor does move at the speed I want, but after a few seconds reverts back to the slow speed.

I know that this mouse can track faster because it does in Windows.

Ubuntu :: Modify Mouse To Not Use Acceleration / Adjust Speed Of Cursor?

Jun 21, 2011

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 and I have a Logitech MX518 mouse. I see that the Logitech SetPoint software is only for Windows, but I am not able to get the exact mouse behavior that I want through the Mouse settings in Ubuntu.

I want acceleration disabled, so I put the slider all the way to the left for acceleration. I then move the slider for mouse sensitivity, but I didn't notice a change in cursor speed. How can I modify my mouse to not use acceleration but adjust the speed of the cursor? Is there a special app I can install for this?

Fedora :: Dual Monitor / Dual Workspace?

Apr 23, 2011

I am attempting to use dual monitors in Fedora 14 using an AMD ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series graphics card (not that I think that has anything to do with anything, but who knows), and want it to where my second monitor is its own virtual workspace so that I can switch between my other workspaces on my original monitor without switching the workspace on the second monitor. This way, I can watch movies or what-not on my TV (2nd monitor) while working on my original monitor. The only thing I found that was even close was setting the 2nd monitor up on it's on x server, which I don't want to do. Also, as it is now, I have my panel on my original monitor, but the windows do not see it when I have it aligned on the right (the windows don't adjust their size to account for the fact that it is there). I know a way I can do a work-around for this, but I would like to know if there is a "correct" way to do this. I know I can tell the movie player to show on all workspaces and have it on the 2nd monitor.
