Software :: Mouse Click On Monitor 1 Kills Full-screen In Flash On Monitor 2 ?

Feb 23, 2010

I'm playing with dual monitors. I have an NVIDIA GT220 set up so that my monitor and my TV are running as extended desktops. Everything is working well enough, but there is one annoying bit I've noticed:

If I'm watching ..... on monitor 1 in fullscreen and working on monitor 2, clicking anything in monitor 2 kills full-screen in monitor 1. Is this something that can be fixed somehow or is it a hardwired "feature"?

General :: Flash Player With 2 Monitors: Always Full-screen On Primary Monitor

Feb 21, 2010

My setup at home uses a laptop, with a larger external monitor in addition to the built-in LCD panel, which is primary. I can see the larger monitor from the rest of the room and use it as my TV, for playing DVDs and various types of web video. However, it isn't ideal for Flash video. For instance, if I watch a video from Hulu or any other Flash-based site, I can expand it to full-screen mode.

However, no matter which monitor the browser window is on, the full-screen mode is always on the laptop LCD panel, which is both too small and not visible from most of the room. Does anyone know of a way to force the Flash video to play full-screen on the monitor I select instead of the primary? My video chipset is NVidia, using kernel 2.6.31 (Ubuntu).

just setup suse 11.3 , put on the Nvidia 19.29-22.1 drivers via yast , no kms is set in inetd , nomodeset on grub boot line etc... Even tried installing the driver " the hard way " dual monitors come up, setup xinerama to "Extend" my desktop , and the main monitor ( right side ) is good, visually the left monitor (2ndary) is good.. but whenever I move my mouse over to the left screen the mouse pointer dissapears, flickers along the right hand border of that screen... and if i move the cursor back to the original screen i have to really fight to get it back to the main screen....Copy of my xorg.conf , still very basic...

Fedora :: Dual Monitor - Window Maximizes To Full Screen?

Feb 11, 2010

I just rebuilt my fedora box and I'm having some problems getting dual monitors to work. First, I can't reposition my secondary monitor to be on the left. It thinks it's on the right. I can use xrandr to fix this, but that is annoying. Is there no way to do this in the display properties? Second, maximizing a window makes it go across all screens. I unchecked this option in the display properties.I also unchecked the one for letting windows be in multiple monitors at once, but this still happens.

Fedora :: Mouse Flash While Vlc Is In Full Screen And Immediately Afterward Sound Gone

Nov 9, 2009

What happens is that the sound will disappear, either without any apparent reason, otherwise when I move the mouse, or pause vlc, or open up another application, in most cases FF. I have also seen the mouse flash while vlc is in fullscreen, and immediately afterward the sound is gone. When the sound disappears, the gnome-volume-control will disappear and reappear on the top taskbar. Also there will be no device under the hardware and input tab of the sound preferences when the sound disappears.

Killing and restarting the pulseaudio daemon from the cli will return the appropriate choices under sound preferences hardware/input tabs, as well as the audio. This could happen a couple of times in the period of an hour. Usually restarting vlc will solve the problem, or restarting the pulseaudio daemon. Another thing I have noticed is that I will occassionally have to kill the vlc process through the system monitor or cli, as closing vlc will not remove it from the taskbar. I have tried the fix shown here, to no avail. Using kernel 2.6.30.9-96.fc11.x86_64 on a hp dv3-2154ca.

I am having problems getting my external monitor to work. When I plug in the monitor, both the laptop screen and the external monitor go black. When I unplug the monitor, the laptop screen works again.
When I startup with the external monitor plugged in, neither screen works or teh computer hangs or something.

I have had the external monitor going on a couple of occasions. I did manage to configure my monitors through System Settings > Display. I turned off the laptop monitor as I just want to use the external. But after rebooting, things didn't work.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Dual-monitor Mouse Position Jumps When Moving Off-screen

Nov 4, 2010

I have a dual-screen set-up with Ubuntu 10.10. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 video card. I use my lower-resolution laptop screen on the left and a larger monitor on the right. The monitor is also physically higher than the monitor. See attachment for a screenshot.I have correctly set up my displays so that if the mouse is in the middle of the screen it can move from one screen to the other without jumping. The jumping happens when moving off of one screen in an area where the other screen is not directly next to it (some people call this 'the void').

Example: (See the attachment for a visual example of this.) My mouse is in the external monitor (right monitor). As I move the mouse to the top-left of the monitor (position 1), I by mistake go a little too far and instead of hitting the Ubuntu applications menu, I ended up at the top-right of the laptop monitor (left monitor; position 2). I quickly realize my mistake and move the mouse back to the right monitor, but now the mouse is at the middle-left position (position 3).This same error occurs by moving the mouse on the laptop monitor (left monitor) passed the bottom-right position. This is a big problem when scrolling vertical scroll bars on the laptop monitor (left monitor).I am looking for a fix that if the mouse is at position 1 in the attachment and I move the mouse left, it stays at position 1 and does not go to position 2.

Fedora :: Monitor Isn't Detected Correctly / Can't Use Full Resolution

Jul 26, 2011

Today my desktop reverted to 1024x768 resolution immediately after init. I tried changing it back but only 1024x768 and 800x600 are listed as supported in the display settings, even though my monitor supports resolutions of up to 1360x768. Rebooting the system did not solve the problem.I'm running Fedora 15 x86_64 on kernel 2.6.38.8-35 with the proprietary nvidia drivers of version 275.09.07. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 933n. nvidia-settings is apparently not detecting it correctly, it thinks I'm using a CRT monitor.I was actually in this exact same situation a few months back, but it kind of went away on its own, so I didn't mind too much. So, what could be causing this, and what can I do?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: How To Get Full Resolution On Second (S-Video) Monitor?

Nov 30, 2010

I have two video outs on my AGP video card. One is VGA and the other is S-video. I tried connecting the second monitor (Viewsonic) by itself to the VGA port and it works fine and runs at 1280x768 very clearly. I then attached the LG monitor instead to the VGA and attached the Viewsonic to the S-video port. Now it is running at 1024x768 and I have no option to increase the resolution. Is this a limitation based on S-video being worse than component, which is worse than VGA and it simply cannot handle the data density for larger resolutions? Or would it be my video adapter? I swear I had monitor control working fine through the panel, but now when I click on the monitor button it says, "It appears that your graphics driver does not support the necessary extensions to use this tool. Do you want to use your graphics driver vendor's tool instead?" and that opens an Nvidia X control panel.

Also, using S-video means the computer doesn't recognize the Viewsonic LCD TV properly, it just recognizes it as a TV. Is this because S-video doesn't play nicely with EDID reporting? It would be nice to get a sharp picture on that TV, the way I had when it was connected like a monitor via VGA. I am not sure what's going on anymore, so any help on clearing up driver issues or getting configuration apps installed or anything like that would be helpful.

The mouse cursor is still here, although invisible - if I do a right-click, the property menu will come up. Fedora Hardware :: External Monitor Not Detected - Dell Laptop - Monitor

My problem is that my system does not seem to be detecting an external monitor that I have connected. Everything else is working just fine; however, I would like to have the option of attaching an external monitor. When I plug the external monitor into the laptop, the external monitor remains black and appears to be in power save mode. How can I get my laptop to recognize that the external monitor is even connected? Let me know if I can be more specific or provide additional details.

Hardware :: Dual Monitor - 2nd Monitor Not Coming Up - Xorg.conf Missing Something?

Is my xorg.conf missing some vital line(s) or setting?

My best guess is that i'm missing something to tell the Xserver to use both screens, as the Xorg.0.log does not talk about trying to bring up the intel display; but this is just a hunch.

I'm running kubuntu 9.04 with 2 monitors: on-board intel video and a PCI nvidia display: I am using my nvidia display fine, but still can not get my 2nd display (the intel) working. What the heck am I missing?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Triple Monitor Setup: X Crashes When Moving To The Second Graphics Card (third Monitor)

Oct 22, 2010

This is a triple-monitor setup with two video cards, where the mouse pointer gets "stuck" if it tries to cross from one video card to the next one. It worked correctly in openSUSE 11.2 and doesn't work in openSUSE 11.3 with the same xorg.conf. This is a 64-bit openSUSE 11.3 with xorg 7.5-11.3 (the openSUSE prepackaged version). I've already tried NVidia drivers 256.53-16.1 (the openSUSE NVidia repository version) and 260.19.12 (the latest off of the NVidia website).

This is the same xorg.conf that I used successfully in openSUSE 11.2. I tried a new automatically generated xorg.conf using nvidia-settings and it had the same problem. This forum won't let me upload the relevant files, but here: [URL] is a tar-ball with my xorg.conf, Xorg.*.log, /var/log/messages, and the NVidia debugging output.

Apr 3, 2010

I installed Karmic on an older PC I had laying around, and the only trouble I am having is with screen resolution. Debian Hardware :: External Monitor As The Main Monitor For A Laptop

Sep 22, 2010

I recently installed Debian, using the amd64 Network Install .iso. I'm using XFCE4 as my desktop environment, and everything is working well... on my laptop's screen.

My desired setup is to have my laptop sitting on a well-ventilated shelf, closed, and to have an external monitor be my main monitor. I want this because I'm using my laptop as my "home" computer, so it never moves, and I don't like the keyboard/trackpad. My laptop has a VGA output, and I can get my desired setup on my Windows partition (not stating a preference ; just that the hardware CAN do what I want it to).

I've been working my way around the Internet for a few days, now, and I've got the commercial NVIDIA driver installed. If I run sudo nvidia-config --twinview I can get my external monitor to be part of the display, which is great, but it's part of a dual-screen monitor setup, which is not what I want at all, because (a) XFCE's multiple virtual desktops are good enough for me and (b) my graphics card is integrated, and I'm trying to squeeze every drop of performance out of my laptop that I can (1 gig of RAM; the less that my graphics card eats into it, the better). Plus, it'd be annoying to accidentally drop something on my laptop's screen, and then have to dig it out of the shelf in order to undo it. I'm not saying that I'm consistently clumsy, but I'd eventually end up doing it.
