I was configuring my evolution mail client a few days ago, typing in pop3 settings etc but my inbox remained empty, so i removed evolution from my applications and reinstalled it, for one reason or another my mail now loads up into my inbox, unfortunately the notifier (the envelope icon at the top right) now doesnt have evolution on it at all, only the chat program which i dont use. ideally this notifier would 'notify' me when mail arrives but at the moment this does not happen.
Upgraded to 11.04 a few weeks ago and after some tweaking found a way to adjust to the Unity shell. When I initially upgraded Im certain that when Evolution alerted me of an upcoming event, that the mail alert icon on the top panel would change to indicate the pending event. However, for the last few days Ive noticed that when Evolution alerts trigger I see the alert bubble, which quickly fades, but the mail alert icon does not change. If Im not right at my workstation when the alert triggers its easy to miss upcoming events. I googled around for a solution, but found nothing or missed it.
I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and it seems to have lost my evolution email program and all the information in it. It is no longer on the panel and no longer in Internet applications but when I go to the software center it says that it is still installed. Is there a chance it is still there and usable? I'd like to keep it rather than switch. How would I find it?
I seem to have lost my Address book in Evolution somehow !! All my addresses have disappeared. Is there some way that I can recover these ?Also how can copy/move/import all my Evolution data over to Thunderbird.
I seem to have all email settings still working, contacts and tasks all seem to be complete. I've rebooted - haven't been prompted for anything in particular.
my computer recently ran out of disk space, and for whatever reason (presumably bad coding!) that caused Evolution to freak out and deny all knowledge of my email account.Fortunately, all the email is still in present in ~/.evolution/mail/imap/me@foo.com but I have no idea how to make Evolution realise that and let me load it again.
I backed up evolution from lucid but when I restored it in maverick although my inbox and addresses were there all the folders I had created didn't appear. As a check I have a netbook and the file transferred fine to that (10.04 netbook remix) -that is with all the folders.
I had recently had a problem with my service provider and my system couldn't connect via the Internet. When I started Evolution, the problems started. Obviously it stalled for password confirmation from my Email accounts but I had to cancel any downloading of emails. The problem was I had to reconfigure my passwords for my email accounts, but I lost those folders that I had stored old emails in for each account. Is there a way to get these back b/c they have my passwords to some sites?
I've just upgraded to 11.04 and I created a evolution-backup.tar.gz file as I've done in other upgrades. When I restored the backup and started Evolution, I've lost all the emails in top-level folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts etc). My own custom folders within these top level folders contain the emails that I backed up. There are quite a few important emails that I've yet to respond to in my Inbox and this is very concerning. Also, I've lost all my Contacts!
I toyed with my desktop panels, and now I don't see my update notifications, although I can see every thing else. I have the notification area and indicator applt session on my panel but still can't see the update notification, when running "ps -A| grep update-notifier" I find it running.... what am I missing...
I have Update Notifier enabled in my startup apps and I've checked that update-notifier is actually running, and I have my updates set to check for updates daily and only notify about available updates. However, I never get any notifications despite having updates available. I'm using Unity on 11.04 and I've enabled "all" icons on my top panel.
Running 8.0.4LTS. I can't get rid of the Adept Notifier applet because Adept Updater cannot download language-pack-en 1:8.04+20100117. It always comes up with a Requested of "no change". If I do a Request Upgrade it changes to "BREAK (upgrade)", but when I hit Apply Updates, I get the following error: Could not commit changes - Adept Notifier There was an error committing changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages. I can live without a new language-pack-en, but I would like to clear it from my Adept Notifier, so I can see when I really do need updates.
I installed the gnome-gmail-notifier today and I noticed that it wasn't translated. Anyone who knows where to ask for a Swedish translation or how to contribute with one? It's a small application so I figure that it won't be much work to translate it. Not that I need to, but I like to have everything in the same language if possible.
I do not use Empathy or Evolution, the default programs used by the messaging panel notifier in GNOME. Rather, I use Skype and Thunderbird for all my needs. Is it possible to change the settings in the panel notifier to use these programs instead? Otherwise, the notifier is completely useless to me and I'd like to remove it individually without removing any of the other panel notifiers that I do use, which is what happens when I right click it and choose "Remove from panel."
why I am not getting sound (.wav) with Gmail. I am running PCLOS2010.1 and using the Firefox browser. Sound was OK prior to upgrading to PCLOS2010.1. Users of the PCLOS forum have not come forward.
This would only be mail sent to root from the local machine and forwarded to my account. It seems like mail-notifier is broken in Evolution w/ Ubuntu 10.10. Anyone have an easy solution to have a notification on my desktop when I recieve mail? I would install on both my boxes.
I have a problem updating packages when using the kpackagekit systray notifier, it fails with the error "failed to obtain authentication".I've looked around and can't find any log output of this.If i start kpackagekit from the menu it all works fine, but not this way. This is with kubuntu 10.10, upgraded from 10.04, it did actually work before.
I always get this error message from my update notifier an error occurred, please run Package manger from the right-click menu or apt-get in a terminal to see what is wrong. The error message was: 'Unknown Error" '<type 'exceptions.SystemError'>' (E:Opening configuration file /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99synaptic - ifstream::ifstream (13:Permission denied))' This usually means that your installed packages have unmet dependencies
I did a fresh install of 11.2 (giving OpenSUSE a try after being on Ubuntu for years). I then enabled the community and packman repos. Now, I have noticed that the eject button that normally appears on the Device Notifier plasmoid is gone. I can still click on where that button should be and the device (CD in this case) will still eject. It's just that the button is "invisible."
Im running suse 11.4 on my laptop, everything was ok, this morning, I've attached two or three usb flashes to my laptop and mounted them by device notifer but after an hour, I've attached another usb flash and device notifer stopped working for any usb device or cd/dvd rom actions... (I mean that it doesnt shows ant action, completely emotionless! ) all of them are mountable by command line.
and after that my dolphin places, doesent shows removeable devices and other partitions enymore (so i couldnt mount any partion using gui)
It's not possible to mount external USB (ntfs) disks with a non-root user using the Device Notifier or Dolphin. The error is:
Could not mount the following device: MyBook 2
org.freedesktop.UDisks.Error.PermissionDenied: Authentication is required
It is a permission problem; running Dolphin under root and clicking the USB disk mounts it without problems. The same should be possible to an ordinary user. The Update Applet does not work for the same reason (I can only install updates using yast).
Of course, I googled the error and there were a number of possible solutions, which I all tried. That includes allowing the action in the policy and adding the user in AdminIdentities local-authority. The file /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.udisks.policy contains "yes" for every option. Needless to say it doesn't make sense and I'm out of options.
When I plug in my 8 GB SanDisk Cruzer USB stick into my desktop box, the KDE Device Notifier fails to recognize it. It will recognize every other USB stick. "fsck" reports no errors. I can mount it manually. I can read and write to it. The Device Notifier on my netbook recognizes it. So does another desktop box. By the way this started recently so I suspect some software update.
I have OpenSuSE 11.2, and I am learning Bash scripting. I was wondering how I would make a bash program, That I could have it check multiple craigslist sites [western mass, worcester mass, etc], e.g. in the Free category, and/or enter keywords, and have it update every 5 minutes, and then post the results somewhere, to a file, or even upload it to a server, or if it's even possible? (Kind of like the program "Ad Notifier for Craigslist") Would I have to do this in C/C++? If it has to be done in C/C++ It would have to be windows compatible preferably.
kde 4.3.4 kernel 2.6.32.7-smp Have Seagate 500GB (fuseblk) external usb drive that gets listed in the "Devices recently plugged in, pop-up panel" but a Verbatim 1.5TB does not. I have to mount it manually as ntfs volume.
When I boot using the Mint distro on same PC both ext usb drives are automounted. Looking for pointers as to why the 1.5TB verbatim disk does not automount.
