View 2 RepliesUbuntu 10.04. I want to change the startup sound and the mail alert sound (incoming mail) for Evolution Mail Client. I go to System > Preferences > Sound, and all I get are themes preset. I do not have option to browse to wav files. I also do not see a browse option in Email Settings. Do I have to change an actual file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to 11.04 and I created a evolution-backup.tar.gz file as I've done in other upgrades. When I restored the backup and started Evolution, I've lost all the emails in top-level folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts etc). My own custom folders within these top level folders contain the emails that I backed up. There are quite a few important emails that I've yet to respond to in my Inbox and this is very concerning. Also, I've lost all my Contacts!

I have got a nagios server running on my network, The configuration seems to be okay but each time there is a service alert notification, and an e-mail is sent to the contact group, Nagios continuously sends e-mail over and over again. Do anyone know of a way to set Nagios directives to only send one e-mail per alert without it flooding mail boxes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
As per OpenNMS wiki documents, I configured everything for email notification of alarms. I am able to view notification under notifications, but I havent seen any mail alerts forwarded to recipient mail ID. Below are configuration files. Please review and suggest the required settings/actions. SMTP Server Details: SMTP Relay Server, OS: Linux
i also made the configuartion by opennms configuration material in opennms.org i edit the following conf file

I have nagios server 3.2 and it works fine.I want to know, how know can i send mail notification by alert type?
Or example
How can i achieve this type of notification? Is it possible or not?
Ever since installing aMSN 0.98.2 I have not been getting the normal audio notification of incoming messages although that feature is enabled in the program. Actually, I do get an audio alert for the very first incoming message but after that, nothing. Other audio alerts, such as when someone signs in or out, do work fine. I am using Ubuntu 9.04. The Windows version of that release works fine and that's what I've been using in recent weeks but I hate going to Windows for my IM.

Is that all the right ports? When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? After running Pine remotely to view some mail on the server, I can no longer access those emails remotely with Evolution or Outlook Express. I know the mail is still there on the server someplace, because it still appears in Pine's "INBOX" folder. But that is clearly not the same as the "Inbox" folder for that account which appears in Evolution and Outlook Express, which is now empty. How can I configure Evolution to re-access those emails?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was configuring my evolution mail client a few days ago, typing in pop3 settings etc but my inbox remained empty, so i removed evolution from my applications and reinstalled it, for one reason or another my mail now loads up into my inbox, unfortunately the notifier (the envelope icon at the top right) now doesnt have evolution on it at all, only the chat program which i dont use. ideally this notifier would 'notify' me when mail arrives but at the moment this does not happen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and it seems to have lost my evolution email program and all the information in it. It is no longer on the panel and no longer in Internet applications but when I go to the software center it says that it is still installed. Is there a chance it is still there and usable? I'd like to keep it rather than switch. How would I find it?

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy computer recently ran out of disk space, and for whatever reason (presumably bad coding!) that caused Evolution to freak out and deny all knowledge of my email account.Fortunately, all the email is still in present in ~/.evolution/mail/imap/me@foo.com but I have no idea how to make Evolution realise that and let me load it again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had recently had a problem with my service provider and my system couldn't connect via the Internet. When I started Evolution, the problems started. Obviously it stalled for password confirmation from my Email accounts but I had to cancel any downloading of emails. The problem was I had to reconfigure my passwords for my email accounts, but I lost those folders that I had stored old emails in for each account. Is there a way to get these back b/c they have my passwords to some sites?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to this forum and essentially new to Linux, (I used unix between 95 and 99) but the cobwebs are still very thick. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 on an extra PC. I have it pretty much as I would like it now, except for email. I am trying to use Evolution and it is sending mail fine. I cannot receive email. I believe this is because my DSL provider, Windstream.net, says
they support only Outlook and Windows Live mail. I could be way off base, but it seems that it should be able to work. When I mentioned Linux, it basically shutdown their help. I have email through them on Windows 7 on another PC. Is there some way around this so I can use the email address xxxx@windstream.net ? Oh, they use pop3 and require authentication, which is what I have configured. I do not get any error messages, just never get the email. Perhaps another email package?
I've just installed Fedora13, created my email account on email settings.... but when I open evolution, everything is greyed out.
I did however installed web server also as I'm developing with joomla and needed php and sql for testing purposes. Could that be the problem?
On evolution, the big red button on the toolbar saying "cancel current mail operation" does nothing and is the only thing I can press. All else is greyed out.
KMail was working, just for a test.
i have automatic spell check on for evolution mail.. but when i compose a new mail it does not work..
