why I am not getting sound (.wav) with Gmail. I am running PCLOS2010.1 and using the Firefox browser. Sound was OK prior to upgrading to PCLOS2010.1. Users of the PCLOS forum have not come forward.
View 5 RepliesI installed the gnome-gmail-notifier today and I noticed that it wasn't translated. Anyone who knows where to ask for a Swedish translation or how to contribute with one? It's a small application so I figure that it won't be much work to translate it. Not that I need to, but I like to have everything in the same language if possible.

Proxy setting is all right. after pressing OK. I get above error.
What are the Gmail Notifier Check Interval units? Would they be in milliseconds?

But there is no sound on new emails.Default notification file (notify.wav) is playing OK with other software.I even try to edit source code (python) of cGmail to disable check of option in gconf-editor. View 1 Replies View RelatedI use gmail's Google Voice plugin to get calls while in the mail browser. I have a usb headset attached to my PC that I currently can output my voice chat from things like Mangler to, so I know my setup is capable of routing specific apps thru specific output devices. My issue comes form being unable to find anywhere to specifically set voice traffic thru my headset as I did while in windows. How do I do this so I don't have to quickly change my sound output when a call comes in? Or is there at least some kind of button or toggle to make that change without having to open the sound prefs menu?

use any browser and go to gmail. i can't get gmail to load. if i browse on videos, links to videos don't work. they appear to be taking a long time to buffer, then a message appears saying to try again. sometimes, links on google search pages are all dead. yahoo mail loads as far as logging me in, then i get a page with all dead links.
i'm using a laptop at several locations that have free public wifi. at some places, everything works perfectly normally. at other places, google and yahoo are almost useless. the "bad" places work just fine under ms windows.
so i figure it's a networking/handshaking issue, but that's all i can figure. i need help to troubleshoot it further. if it's happening to me, it has to be happening to other people, and i consider it a major hassle.
My college internet providers shifted to a different setting.. defined in the changing lan proxy settings on the user end. I.e.ip - 192.168.0.200 and port to 3000. This to reduce misuse of the net connection ..The thing is, since then, every other website is working, except GMail. It isnt blocked, the Nebero page shows up for blocked sites. When attempting to open gmail, the default internet page shows up for unavailability of page owing to no or slow response from the server, or the firewall or proxy settings not appropriately configured. I cannot open gmail, the connection on empathy im. I cant ping gmail either. No response. What can be the problem.

Right now it's getting my incoming messages perfectly using POP but I'm not syncing to my sent messages which is an issue because I have a lot of important stuff in my sent mail inside of gmail. Before I had it all in thunderbird (don't remember how) but I decided to try thunderbird 3 (couldn't keep it because calendar kept screwing up) so I downgraded and now I can't get those messages to show up again. I checked gmail and those sent messages are still there.

In my home we have got an internet connection which is connected to desktop machine having two network cards. One card is connected to external internet and second is used for internal LAN.
We have installed a proxy on desktop machine so that we can connect to internet through proxy. So we are not able to telnet to smtp.gmail.com 587 from laptops of internal LAN laptop installed with ubuntu and fedora.
At the same time we are able to ping smtp.gmail.com from the desktop machine which is exposed to internet.
I want to automate email through shell script using smtp.gmail.com.

Question: Upon completion, when trying to send a test email to myself via gmail (from CLI) I get the following error: "msmtp: no recipients found". In CLI below it asks me to explicitly pick a mailx to download. I think I already have mailx as when I type mailx I get "no mail for primary".

I toyed with my desktop panels, and now I don't see my update notifications, although I can see every thing else. I have the notification area and indicator applt session on my panel but still can't see the update notification, when running "ps -A| grep update-notifier" I find it running.... what am I missing...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was configuring my evolution mail client a few days ago, typing in pop3 settings etc but my inbox remained empty, so i removed evolution from my applications and reinstalled it, for one reason or another my mail now loads up into my inbox, unfortunately the notifier (the envelope icon at the top right) now doesnt have evolution on it at all, only the chat program which i dont use. ideally this notifier would 'notify' me when mail arrives but at the moment this does not happen.

But then I received this message:

In my gmail a/c I have severel folders.....each with different label.while I configured alpine, I give the path as directed in several know-how in internet and only INBOX is there, with sent mail and saved mails.....no other folders.

I've setup postfox on Fedora 13 in order to send emails to and from gmail. I thought this was working, but it is dropping approx 50% of mails with an error. The other 50% work OK. It seems completely random.
I've read the link but I stil dont quite understand.
My machine is just a PC, on talktalk's network in the UK.
I use dyndns to allocate a DNS alias (well several actually) to my dynamic IP address - not sure if this is relevent.
Is it failing due to a reverse DNS lookup on the dyndns host? Or is it because it cannot resolve my localhost.localdomain?
I used to have this running on opensuse and swear it used to work 100% of the time.
What am I doing wrong?
